Pros:

Skin Vitalize Peel...Smooth, baby soft skin. Acne and acne marks lessened

Cons:

Can be expensive but worth it if you buy the package

Everyone's skin will react differently to this peel. For me, this peel has saved me from hiding out in my house as I once did. I have much more confident. In my last year of college I broke out horribly and then a year later I heard about this I decided to give this a shot. It's been a year now since my first peel and it has made such a significant difference for me and my face. You have to have patience and give it shot.

Pros:

VI Peel
I had a VI Peel yesterday and today my face looks and feels sunburn. I'm told there is no discomfort but that's not true, so I put cortisone and lavendar cream on my face to soothe it, anything I can do to help it. It's also itchy.

Cons:

morning of 2nd day it feels worse. Itchy, more red, and feels sensitive and burned. I woke up swollen a little under my eyes mostly and puffy a little everywhere else. I'm sensitive to retin A but was told there isn't that much in this.

Not sure yet. Right now, maybe I wouldn't do it again. But we'll see in a few days, and I'll post back. Amanda

Pros:

works wonders on fine lines and hyperpigmentation. It also helps give the skin a nice glow and smooth texture.

Cons:

Can cause discomfort, redness, and moderate to heavy peeling for up to 10 days depending on the person.

Do not attempt to perform any kind of peel at home from a kit!! I am a licensed esthetician and it is so outrageous to me that these kits are even offered. Peels should only be done by a professional and only if you are using the appropriate home care before and after your peel. Peels, especially a TCA, can do more harm than good if you don't know what you are doing, and they are not for every skin type!!! GO SEE A PROFESSIONAL!

Pros:

I used a 12.5% TCA peel at home. It worked well with immediate results. Skin flaked and peeled two days later and then was a little red. Did this on Friday night and Monday morning my skin looked great.

Cons:

Really no cons. I have had professional peels before (5 yrs ago) and knew what to expect. I could have used a stronger peel but wanted to be conservative. Had to layer the peel on brown spots from severe sun damage but that was easily done.

I ordered from Makeup Artists Choice and there website has lots of information and warnings. I am ordering my second peel and going up to 18% so that I can use this on my neck and hands. Best bet is to start slow and move up, you can always layer up to 5 layers in problem areas after you do the first peel and feel comfortable with the results and procedures. The hands and necks where there was more damaged and leathery skin definitely needed layering and took longer for the skin to peel. Results were not as dramatic however, I will repeat the peel once a month with the higher concentration until most of the damage is gone. There is definitely improvement in the hands and neck but to get maximum results will take more applications. Use neosporin as directed and sun screen religiously and wear a hat for the first months or so... Have already recommended this product. It is great!

Pros:

My skin looked good for about six days

Cons:

Scaring.

I am 55 years old and I have brown spots and crepe type wrinkling on my cheeks. I did a ton of research on chemical peels and had it done by a plastic surgeon. I had the 35% TCA chemical peel. After the peeling, on day six, it looked great. NOW, ten days later and three thousand dollars, I have what I think will be a scar on a large portion of my left cheek. The brown spots and wrinkles are coming back. On the upside, my face looks brighter because it did diminish the appearance of the light brown spots on my skin. Would I do it again? No. Now I have to deal with the scar on my face. Hopefully it will fade, but I didn't think I was going to spend $3,000.00 to have a scar on my face. Not worth it.

Pros:

well i did alot of research was back and forth on wanting to get a chemical peel. so i went to a clinic and got vitalized peel on friday today is saturday its just kinda red like a sunburn but am now worried after reading some of these results

Cons:

the results im trying to achieve is i have a red spot right on my nose that i want gone and my pores smaller and i have a little bit of acne

i am a caucasion female 24, i might now have realized been too young for a chemical peel, however there are some benefits. i already paid for 3 treatments at a discounted price so i could try going for one more and see but im gonna see how it goes once i start peeling on my first one. im wondering could a vitalized peel do much damage?

Pros:

Even skin tone, fine lines reduced, pigmentation reduction. Over all better skin tone

Cons:

The higher the percentage is not always better!

I am a licensed esthetician and I am horrified over people using such high strength peels at home. You should start with one of the lightest % and gradually move up. I use the 12.5 % tca with great results. Everyone has different reactions, and extreme caution should be used!

Pros:

reduces wrinkles undereyes and sun spots.

Cons:

you look worse before you get better

I highly recommend getting this procedure done for the first time by a professional. it looks like in the reviews the people that used the higher % had bad results. now that I know how to apply it and the steps the surgeon took and what to do during the healing time I will use a at home soltution . it is important to prep the skin before you do the area . the after care is very important. if you do not keep moist it will not heal properly. you can not be on any type of hormone or birth control becuse this could cause darkening of the skin. I went to a plastic surgeon and had a peel under my eyes. I applied crisco vegetable oil under my eyes 24 hours after the procedure and had to spray with water every 2 hours and reapply the crisco oil. it took a full week to peel and my eyes look awesome. it is fresh new skin that is flawless. it is ver very important to do the prep and psot care or you will have a terrible result .

Pros:

Initial firming of the skin, which makes scars less noticeable.

Cons:

Flaking skin, lightening of skin, enlarged pores, and additional scarring.

I did 1 glycolic and 4 SA 20% peels at a plastic surgeons office every other week over a 3 month period. The first treatment was a glycolic acid peel. The treatment left my skin a little irritate and broke out the following three days, but not any real negative side effects.. The rest of the peels were 20% SA. She cleansed the skin with glycolic products and then applied the SA peel and left it on for 3 minutes followed by a 3 minute soak. Initially, my skin looked firm, but by the 3rd SA peel I noticed my skin looking worse. Against my better judgment, I went through with the 4th SA peel. My end result was multiple tiny holes, like every pore had been opened. Existing scars looked worse, and the dry, flaking skin added more scarring. I wish I could turn back time and chose another procedure.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
