Pros:

Works

Cons:

Taking multiple pills a day

It's the only thing that helped me. I had very mild acne, but I broke out bad one week. I started using ProActiv, which worked well for about a month and a half. One day, my face started breaking out worse than it ever has in my life. I stopped using the ProActiv and tried many different cleansers and treatments. I started taking three 50 mg Zinc pills a day and after a month or two, my skin is back to the way it was before I used ProActiv. It's the only thing that cleared my skin back up. I'd definitely give it a try.

I started taking 50 mg zinc gluconate for my mild to moderate acne and I have seen positive results. My face feels tighter, dry, and it's helping with the complexion. Coincidentally, I also have a sore throat and zinc is supposed to help with that by maintaining a healthy overall immune system. I feel more energized and less lethargic.

Pros:

Making my skin feel tight and more firm. Red spots and scars are literally disappearing.

Cons:

Dry skin. Obvious upset stomach if I don't eat a full meal with it. But that's not hard to manage. I think everyone should stop complaining about that and just take it with food.

It's only been a week and my face broke out somewhat harshly when I first started. But I can feel it working the same way accutane did. It's making my skin tight, the pores are shrinking and I'm not getting pimples not for 2 days. We'll see how it lasts. To be fair, I have been taking 50mg a day along with A and B-6. So I dunno if it's the combination or one single vitamin working...but I think it's gonna work. I faith!!! hah. I've tried so much nonsense to try and get rid of acne. Aside from my accutane period (which cleared everything) I've battled it since I was 12. I'm 21 now and it's REALLY bad on my chest and back. And moderate on my face. But they get real big and red so even just a few pimples looks REALLY bad. The zinc is helping that though! I recommend giving it a try! At night I also use some BP. That usually helps it along to but also contributes to the drying. Good luck to all of you and I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed this time!

Pros:

cheap and easy

Cons:

none really. i haven't had any problems with nausea that others have reported.

i have had acne since i was 12 and now i'm 22 and i think it's been getting worse over the last few years. i've been on pretty much all kinds of prescription topicals and minocycline and none have worked. i have blackheads, whiteheads, deep swollen pimples... at this point, i'm using neutrogena oil-free acne wash 2X a day, i use clean & clear 10% bp thing at night, and i take 30 mg of zinc at dinner. i'm not sure if it's the zinc, or the regime i started, but i'm seeing some improvement. it's always hard to tell--i think my skin is clearing and then i get some really bad ones. it's cheap and definitely worth a try and may even work. i'm going to continue and see what happens.

Pros:

IT DOES HELP WITH ACNE

Cons:

IT MAKES ME EXTREMELY NAUSEOUS EVERY TIME I USE IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT ON A FULL STOMACH AFTER DINNER AND I FEEL AS IF I AM GOING TO THROW UP. IT DID WORK FOR ME BUT I AM NOT GOING TO USE IT BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL VERY SICK.

ITS GOOD, BUT NOT FOR ME.

Pros:

Skin feels softer and inflamed spots have gotten a lot less red and big.
helps my hair, didnt get nauseous

Cons:

I don't think zinc gluconate works as well as chelate for most people because its harder to absorb.
WEll not help much if you acne is caused by something that zinc can't help like diet.

I got some zinc amino chelate about a week ago and ever since ive been taking 50 mgs a day my complexion has been getting better and I haven't broken out. Did you know when you ejaculate you lose like 5 mgs of zinc, so thats kinda alot when you think about how much zinc your body absorbs without taking a supplement (its usually less than that a day). So you might not want to jerk off like everyday if you have a zinc deficiency.

Pros:

Zinc works wonders, my skin has never been this clear.

Cons:

Will get nauseated, even with food.

After suffering for a long with acne, going to dermatologists and using antibiotics for years, I decided to try zinc. I can not believe how well it works for me. It has done more for my skin than any antibiotic or retin-a. I still get a few spots (usually hormone related), but overall my skin is crystal clear. I am so grateful I actually tried this.
