Pros:

Works well. Improves skin's overall appearance.

Cons:

Wasn't overnight

My husband never breaks out. I never had any skin problems till I hit my thirties then all heck broke loose. I asked my hubby about 3 mths ago how he has such good skin. He told me it was because of the zinc he took everyday. His brother had acne when he was young and he didn't want that to happen to him so he began popping zinc 20 years ago and takes it till this day. I started taking it as well and at first nothing. But about a month in I started to see the difference and now, with my usual skin regime of proactive, my skin looks really good. I would recommend anyone taking it for overall skin health.

Pros:

Helps acne heal faster, reduces oil production,

Cons:

makes me throw up if not taken RIGHT after a full meal. If you stop taking them, even for 4-5 days, you will start breaking out again, but the good news is that if you start again, you will clear up w/in a couple weeks.

I love zinc. I have VERY sensitive skin, it is bordering on rediculous. This doesnt cause any bad reaction in my skin. It cleared me up w/in 3 weeks. Also I have noticed a real reduction in the oiliness of my skin. I stopped for a while (1 week) and my skin got really oily again, and I broke out all over my jaw. So I started up again, and now it is great. I also like to desolve a tab in a little watter or apple cider vinegar to make a past and put on spots, or all over face and leave for 30 min - 1 hr. It works great. I also use apple cider vin / 1/2 water as an astrengent, and raw honey as a mask 2x a week. works GREAT!!!!!!!

Pros:

Is an effective substitute/alternative to antibiotics without the side effects of antibiotics for acne.

Definitely provides more marginal benefits for acne than Proactiv.

Cons:

It works very well for some, moderately well for most others, no effect for a few others.

In my opinion, I think the conflicting results are due to those who doesn't have much relief from acne not taking note of certain things when taking zinc supplements for acne treatments. I have written and summaries all the things possible that you need to take note for zinc acne treatment. Zinc is a promising treatment for acne. Don't because of the following points as stated below, you conclude that it doesn't work for you. [link removed]

Pros:

Clearer skin. (50mg of Zinc)

Cons:

Have a hard time swallowing the tablets; have to crush it up the tablet with spoon.

Although I despise the tablets (I only wish they came in capsules!), zinc works wonders. Ever since I've started taking it, my skin has improved a lot -- and I only started taking it a few weeks ago. I only wish I knew about it sooner.

Pros:

Works great if you stay on it

Cons:

Dont stop

I used to take zinc about 50-100mg a day and my acne broke out some very little, but healed up quickly. I stoped taking it for 3 months and my face started breaking out over and over and it took forever for the bumps to disapear. Try it...just a few bucks!!! Don't take on an empty stomach

Pros:

Easy way to treat possible imbalances that cause cystic hormonal acne
No bad side-effects (I personally had no nausea whatsoever)
Depending on brand, quite cheap treatment

Cons:

Likely shouldn't take it long-term
Be VERY careful with taking higher doses and do your research

I've had internal problems causing acne for a while. My nails were brittle and splitting and I had plenty of white spots, so I figured zinc had to factor in somewhere. As far as the acne went, all my breakouts have been on my chin, generally starting cystic and painful, and have been there consistent for a few years now. When one pimple cleared up, yet another would show up painful and aching. It didn't matter how much I washed my face or what I used to do so. Clearly hormonal. I started taking 100 mg of zinc gluconate (two 50 mg pills). About a week after starting that I also started nightly benzoyl peroxide applications to my chin. Together they're clearing it up entirely - the zinc fixing the internal problems, the peroxide killing whatever was on the surface and helping clear up blackheads in the process, a nice bonus. Very relieved this worked. i will likely scale my dose WAY back once the majority of my acne clears up, as I doubt whatever zinc deficiency I have requires the full 100 mg, which I took mostly out of desperation. 50 mg might have worked just as well, I couldn't say, I didn't try it. I'd recommend starting at 50 mg (which I didn't do) and if that doesn't help, up your dose at that point.

Pros:

My skin is not nearly as oily, really keeps the pimples down on top of Retin A

Cons:

I apply it topically and it is a pain to crush the tablet and add to my moisturizer

It works really well topically.

I've been taking a 50mg chelated zinc capsule every day for the last two days. Ordinarily I wouldn't leave a review after such a short length of time, but I'm already seeing results. I was on a BC pill for several years for my PCOS. It helped immensely but gave me paralyzing migraines, which my doctor said put me at risk of a stroke. I've heard conflicting things - that zinc is an ingredient in the pills and that they cause a deficiency. I think I may have been deficient purely because the chronic yeast infection that I have that never responds to treatment is beginning to clear up. This apparently is a common sign that I needed more zinc. My mum tried it for balancing her hormones as a young woman. Apparently it didn't make her either better or worse, nor did it make her feel ill. Whilst it has helped with my acne and thrush I also feel ill after taking them with a meal (although the feeling wasn't as bad yesterday as the day before). Anyway, on to the important bit. My acne has been mild/moderate lately. I've only had one breakout of about 30 small whiteheads mostly on my cheeks that have been there for about a month. It's like the zinc has sucked everything out of them so that they're red dots that lie flat across my skin (btw, lemon juice is fantastic at blitzing hyper pigmentation). I had a small initial breakout on my forehead, but the skin heals fast there anyway so it's irrelevant. I've had a few people who are close to me comment on how much better my skin is looking. I've been exfoliating twice a week with sugar, splashing warm/hot water on my face twice a day, letting the water from the shower drum over my face and using a calcium betonite clay with apple cider vinegar mask twice a week. Oh, and it cleared my chest breakout on the first day. They were a line of red spots that I'd had for quite a while that wouldn't go away. I'll do an updated review with further use. I'
