Pros:

-Clears blemishes(even cystic)
-Improved skin texture
-Worked in about a week
-Cheap and effective
-Ezcema is less aggressive

Cons:

-If taken on empty stomach ive experienced slight nausea and stomach pains. Nothing too serious.

It works for me. Im a 16 year old girl who has moderate - severe acne plus hyperpigmentation. Ive researched everything and finally discovered that taking 2 50mg zinc gluconate caplets eveyday or other day with a meal clears my skin remarkably. I also suggest a skin product called Acnevir(found at walmart), which is what i use alongside zinc. Its a topical gel formula( benzoyl peroxide) worked wonders.. Anyways i recommend this. Drink this with your daily recommended intake of water and of course a relatively healthy diet and your skin will improve! You will thank yourself and of course zinc! (Oh and the brand of zinc for me was a store brand at CVS)

Pros:

Cheap
Natural
Suggested to regulate hormones
Helps heal quickly

Cons:

Hurts stomach if not taken with food

I know that zinc's aid in fighting acne is controversal, however, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I would much rather take a vitamin/mineral that take medication. I really think that this plays a part in helping acne. I believe that for many people, acne is an internal issue and should be fought on the inside as well as the outside. I think taking this supplement in conjunction with using good products is a great way to see results. I follow the regimen (I use purpose face wash, Dan's BP, and Dan's moisturizer). I follow the directions, morning and night, and try to be very gentle. I do this while taking zinc, vitamin A + D, and B complex with C. I have been doing this everyday for the past few months and I feel that it has really helped my skin. I think zinc is really worth a try, it has shown to have such successful results in many people - and it can't hurt. Just make sure to take on a full stomach every time! Good luck!!! :-)

Pros:

Great!

Cons:

Nauseau

Had I known back when I was 15 (35 years ago), I would have killed to have known the benefits of Zinc. Started about a month ago with 50 mg, 25 am-25 pm. No breakouts to speak of. Healing on back and other areas is continuing. My life has taken a change that I could have never imagined. I have a 16 year old with mildest acne, who breaks out ocaasionally. Took him to Dermatologist 2 months ago (before I found out about Zinc). Dermatologist prescribed Clind/BP roller and a harsh drying agent. Boy uses Clind only with good results. If it fails, I've recommended Zinc to my son. He's hesitant about the nauseau since he's on the football team, trains every day and is very active. We'll see. Anyway, I couldn't be happier. I wish good luck to all of you who at least try it. It has really changed a long, long history of physical and emotional pain. :)

Pros:

none

Cons:

made my skin more oily

I have used chelated Zinc for 4 weeks, 2 30mg pills a day. I started to break out on my forehead (where I usually don't get acne) on the 2nd week. I've noticed that my whole face is becoming more and more oily and greasy and nasty on the 3rd week.

Pros:

I used to get cystic acne, and between the zinc supplements and eliminating almost all dairy products, I rarely even have a minor pimple now. I've been on this routine for 8 months now. It's been great!

Cons:

If taken without food, I get an upset stomach. Also, at first, I was taking too much and I would get a metallic taste in my mouth. I reduced the dosage and that went away.

Definitely worth trying. It's cheap and easy. I knew within a day or two that it was working, and I had good results within a couple of weeks. Initially, my skin became dried out and flakey, but I switched facial cleansers to Neutrogena Deep Clean cleanser and that helped my skin's condition. It's really been a life changer and confidence booster. I wish that it worked for everyone.

i read this post 5 months ago when i started to break out again. I have taken accutane 3 times in the past. once when i was 17, again at 19 and again around 21/22. I am 24 and started to break out again and was extremely frustrated. after reading the reviews i figured i'd give fish oil/zinc a try. when i first started taking these two pills i did break out a little. (i was used to his as you do this w/ accutane as well) after a month i started to clear up. 5 months have gone by and my skin has been great. (keeping my fingers crossed!!) i take 1 fish oil pill a day (1000mg) and 1 zinc pill a day (50 mgs) I would tell anybody to try this...you have nothing to lose. good luck! oh, i also wash w/ cetaphyl gentle cleanser and use BP 2.5% every night.

Pros:

makes zits smaller, fewer, and faster-healing this took about 3-4 weeks to start working. Then I tried upping the dosage and started getting symptoms of iron deficiency. I'm a long-time vegetarian (borderline vegan), so I think i need zinc.

Cons:

can cause anemia if iron absorption is a problem, can cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach.

25-50 mg / day may be helpful to those who have a zinc deficiency. These might include vegetarians and especially vegans. Be sure to take an iron supplement and/or eat iron-rich foods while taking this as, over time, it can cause an iron deficiency. If you take both zinc and iron, take them at different times during the day b./c they can affect each other's absorption.

Pros:

this works greatt! i have had severe acne since 5th grade and tried everything. my doctor recomended me to take zinc for my immune system and i am now in 8th grade i have been using zinc for 2 weeks and most of it is gone!

Cons:

it can make you feel sick if you dont eat it with food.

if you arent happy with your skin buy this product. but if you are happy with your skin it would be a good idea to still take it to maintain your skin. and zinc unlike other products gets better right when you start using it. it doesnt get worse.
