SMOOTH AND CLEAR
Okay so I picked up witch hazel yesterday night and put it on three times before bed. When I woke up my skin was so smooth and clear I cried! I was breaking out on my forehead and it left odd small bumbs, but they had completely vanished, also my skin was super smooth. Yes there were still some red spots in other areas of my face (I have a little bit of acne on my nose and a zit on my chin.) But the redness had gone down very very much. I recommend this to anyone whether it's to smoothen your skin or to clear up acne. Can't wait for long term results.

Pros:

smell,gentleness

Cons:

none

I have roseacea and anything i use thats harsh make my face red with exception of Thayers (achohol-free) lavender witch hazel. People are complaining about the smell. buy the essential oil scented versions and you will see a huge difference (bit more pricey). ALSO, Some witch hazel products contain alcohol so this can be drying, Dickenson has a lavender but contains alcohol, works if alcohol is not an issue for your skin. however some Thayers brands do not contain alcohol, so make sure you check the ingredients.

Pros:

Shrinks pores, reduces oil production, clears and prevents exsisting pimples, easily available and cheap.

Cons:

None

My skin's intial reaction turned me off from this product. I even contiplated to stop. Use see my first couple of uses my skin was getting: extremely dry/flakey, post pigmentation marks seemed enhanced and red and small bumps along the chin and cheecks appeared. I decided to keep using this product so I could have a fair judgement. It only took about three days for my skin to adjust and boy it was for the better. Months into using I no longer require the use of 10% AHA or peroxide. Remarkeably all my routine consist of is: luke warm water w/ an oil-free gentle cleanser, cotton ball of WH and oil-free Purpose lotion. Viola!

Pros:

non-drying and starts fighting acne immediately
depletes redness drastically
actually stops pimples forming and clears scars

Cons:

needs a few applications one after another to be affective for moderate to severe acne.

This reallyhelps my acne in the long run and is the only thing that hasnt either stopped working after a while or made my skin really really dry. It makes a huge difference to the redness as well! Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties which is almost instant. I prefer to apply this by pouring some into the bottle cap and then using the tip of my index finger to wipe it onto the areas affected by acne until it looks like its as wet as i can get it and then let it dry and then do it again. I repeat this four times. All in all it takes about 15 minutes to finish applying and drying four times but i find this makes it really affective as i have experimented loads with it as it seems to be the only thing i can find that really helps my acne alot. Seriously its the only thing i use that puts a fine line between my acne being mildly light and severe as it can spread over my face and down my neck without this.

Pros:

-less oily face
-skin feels better
-inexpensive
-natural product
-does not irritate the skin
-NO ACNE

Cons:

-smell for others, but to me it's not that bad

use it first before switching to any products i.e. cleansers, spot treatments, creams, surgery, accutane. I found out about this when I was at walmart with my girlfriend and she saw Aaron Brands: Astringent Witch Hazel, 16 fl oz. It was only a $1. On my second week now I barely get acne, only if I sleep really late (4 hours of sleep), I'll get a small one but it goes away less than a day as you keep using this astringent. I use it twice a day, sometimes 3 if I've had a long day at work and doing physical activities. What I noticed was the more your cotton is soaked and as you put it in your face like you applied sweat, your face is less oily. So please do yourself a favor and try this and maybe it may cure your acne, I'm a believer of this product. I'm male, 23 years old. Acne cured.

Pros:

OMG--my son had moderate to severe acne on his forehead and cheeks all through high school. We tried everything. On a whim, he used witch hazel on cotton pad all over face, then let dry, followed with benzoyl peroxide cream--Please try--A MIRACLE.

Cons:

None--you get used to a mild odor.

It was so cheap at the drug store--why don't more people know about this? My son was miserable all through high school and made fun of because of his complexion. The doctor gave us retinol cream for $100 a tube--didn't even work. This witch hazel works in a few days. It's not perfect 100%, but compared to what it was like about 5 days ago, it's nothing short of a miracle. At night, take a warm shower. After shower and dry, just use plenty of witch hazel on a cotton pad all over face, let it dry on your face completely. Then use a thin coating of clearasil tinted cream (10% benzoyl peroxide) anywhere there is pimples and go to sleep. He leaves that on all night and the next day until night and showers at night and starts it all over again. Please try this if acne is harming your self-esteem and the real wonderful you wants to shine through.

Pros:

Soft Skin
Reduces Redness
Controls Breakouts
Cheap

Cons:

A lot of people don't like the smell, but I find that I kind of like it.

I've had acne since I was in fourth grade; now I'm nearing the end of my senior year and am still struggling with my acne. I ran across Witch Hazel in the store, and I already knew the herb itself has a history of being used to heal, so I decided to take a chance and buy it. When everything else has failed, you just kinda try anything and everything that seems even moderately promising. I started using it about a week ago, and already I can see the results. I use it when I first wake up and am getting ready for school, and then I use it right before I go to bed. It's real gentle, doesn't burn or irritate. I have picky skin. Just about any other face cleaner or soap I've used either didn't work, caused more break outs, or I was allergic to (one time I even got a chemical burn from a face cleaner). As I said before, in any case, I've only been using it for a week, and my face has cleared up considerably. My skin feels softer and isn't as oily, I haven't had to apply any sort of lotion because my skin is exceedingly dry. I'm really hoping that this continues to work. I'd definitely recommend it.

Pros:

-seems to help with redness
-makes my skin softer
-doesn't break me out
-cheap for big bottle!

Cons:

-bad smell, but it goes way very quickly (it just takes some getting used to)

I never really used toner because I thought it was unnecessary, but after reading somewhere that witch hazel helped with redness and swelling, I gave this a try. It removes any excess make up or oil that my super mild cleanser doesn't take off. I only use it after I've worn make up or had a long day without washing my face. It seems to make my skin softer, and my face has gotten much better as far as breakouts go (I also switched to the cerave lotion and cleanser at the same time, though, so its hard to know what contributed the most). my face is also much less red. either way... It works for my sensitive, red skin and didn't cause a break out so... I recommend it. I give it five little pimple men.

Love this stuff!!
I'm 54 yrs old and have battled acne since age 14. At my age I'm now also getting blotchy skin and age spots. After reading these reviews I decided to give witch hazel a try. I am absolutely amazed at how much better my skin looks after only one week!! My acne has calmed down tremendously and my skin tone is much, much better. The blotchiness and spots are at least 50% better! However, I do apply a lot of it. 3 times in the morning at 10 minute intervals after washing with an acne soap and the same before bedtime. I use cotton balls to apply. The brand I use is T.N. Dickinson's from walmart. So thrilled with my results!!!!!
