Pros:

Calmed my skin down within two days. No skin irritation. Reduced the appearance of existing skin irritation on my face. Leaves my skin feeling calm and smooth.

Cons:

Smell is awkward (because it doesn't have the same smell of the commercial brand astringents, no fruity smells.) Sometimes things that are good for you doesn't smell inviting at first, you'll get used to it.

Nature is the best remedy for our ailments. I recommend the witch hazel to anyone suffering from acne or skin irritations.

Pros:

Non drying. No fragrance.

Cons:

None

I have used this for many years. Works much better on my oily skin than alcohol based toners/astringents, which dry skin out and trick it into thinking that it needs to produce more oil. I use only at night to remove makeup residue left after washing.

Pros:

It's Cheap and you can use it to make Aspirin toner (see aspirin mask) It takes away dirt almost as well as isopropyl alcohol.

Cons:

It smells. If you've ever had a "tequila episode" the smell might remind you of the tequila episode. At least it did me. That's why I add a drop of lavender per oz of Witch Hazel, ya know to take the edge off. LOL

it's an awesome base for making Aspirin Toner. (see aspirin mask) I like to in the summer time add aspirin and a few other things to my witch hazel to reduce oil production. But it's Great By it's self Here's my Aspirin Toner Recipe. All of the items listed below are per 1oz of Witch Hazel. 1 aspirin 1 drop of tea tree oil 1 tbs of Isopropyl alcohol 1 drop of lavender (lavender has antiseptic properties and helps heal scars) In the winter I eliminate the Tea Tree oil b/c it's far too drying for my skin...... Ultimately most of the toner is witch hazel wich really get's the job done. For those of you out there that are curious, the above has done WONDERS for my skin. Note the price listed below is by month. B/c initially all the stuff above is expensive but it lasts forever.

Pros:

Very cheap effective astrigent.

Cons:

Initial smell is not great, but fades quickly!

I started using T.N. Dickinsons witch hazel while I was pregnant. I had to discontinue my prescriptions and had horrific acne my first trimester. This really helped alot. I would cleanse with jojoba oil ,then earth science facial wash.I also used earth therapeautics acne serum at night. I have develeped some allergies to propylene glycol and other stabilizers in skin care products over the years, so I had to go all natural. I've had very good results with this regimen. I still have some acne scarring, but the active cysts and pimples have diminished. I also noticed a decrease in facial oil, it was a slick even with tazorac.I would also use nelsons homeopathic acne gel occasionally. The cost for everything is around $25.00 and lasts for months. If there are any pregnant acne sufferers I hope this helps.

Ok, I am a skeptic when it comes to trying products on my face but if u don't take a risk, u will never know what works for u.. this toner has literally saved my skin and that is something I thought would never happen, after a lot of trial and error (and waste of $$) I found this toner that I use as my cleanser in the AM (yes, as a cleanser) and in the PM after washing my face with Loreal's Go 360 Clean for sensitive skin. These two have worked wonders for me. Now I only have to take care of the post-acne marks. Just to be clear, I have been battling acne for 5 years and used to have moderate acne before this (seriously!) so stop using harsh chemicals like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, I know it's extremely hard, believe me. But give it a try and most importantly give it time :)

Not for acne
This product is great at temporarily shrinking pores and adding a glow to skin. However based upon the reviews I tried using this to help with my black heads and it didn't really do anything. At first it seemed they were clearing up but it was just an illusion from the pore shrinking quality of the product. I used for 3-4 weeks and my blackheads continued to get worse with new white heads as well. I wouldn't recommend this product for acne but it's a good toner and will make your skin glow.
