worked awesome
B5 gave me really clear skin for a few months. I couldn't believe it. But the results started to fade after awhile. I'm not sure if my body is just getting used to it or what. But still, I would recommend trying it out.

I just want to tell to those who found the vitamin b5 expensive that they should try to buy the powder version. Its much more cheaper.

Pros:

IT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME!
It totally cleared up my super oily skin -- but not to the point of overdrying it! The amount of moisture left in my face is just right. Plus it shrunk my pores! I am soooo happy and grateful that i discovered this. it's just a vitamin but its so powerful in helping my body metabolize fat properly instead of releasing it out to my face. :) NO EXCESS OIL = NO ACNE!!! :D :D LOVE IT

Cons:

You have to megadose -- which would seem scary at first.. but its totally harmless, since like vit. C, any excess of it in your system gets flushed out in your urine anyways! Also, during the first few days of megadosing, you'll get some loose bowel movement. no worries cause this will subside completely as your body gets used to the B5 dosing. and thats it for the cons. all the pros are worth it.

i just had to write this review. i had been praying for a cure and this is it! in hindsight i am happy all 3 derms i went to refused to prescribe me isotretinoin (they said my acne was not bad enough :/ ). i wasn't going to give up on myself so i tried to self medicate and discovered b5 via talkingaboutacne's youtube channel. [link removed] I absolutely cannot live without vitamin b5. i am currently taking a maintenance dose of 5g/day. if you have acne caused by super oily skin, you owe it to yourself to try this. just stick with the 10g a day (spread out throughout the day) and you will see results. Also remember to take 1 pill of B-50 complex cause B5 only works when the rest of the vitamin Bs are present in the body.

Pros:

clears skin
Reduces oil

Cons:

Dries out skin dramatically to the point that it causes excessive flakiness

I was using b5 for 2 years, first year i was takin 7 or so a day but that didnt help too much and then i upped my dose the following year to 20 a day which literally cleared my skin overnight.I continued to dose on 20 a day for an whole year but now i have bin off b5 for 3 months as it has caused my skin to become excessively dry to the point that it flakes.I have not had my acne come bk yet after 3 months of quitting b5 but im quite sure it will make its way back within a few more months and also my skin is still very dry and flakey even after stoppin b5.These pills are great for acne but they would be perfect and i would of continued takin them if they didnt dry my skin out too much

Pros:

Completely cleared my skin

Cons:

expensive, appeared to stop working after 2 years!

Wow! I have suffered with my skin since the age of about 13 and it has become the bane of my life as I am now 27 and still suffer with it! I have probably spent thousands of pounds on treatments, antibiotics, micridermabraison, creams, lotions, poitions........ But aside form antibiotics, this is the best thing I have ever tried. People were actually commenting on how good my skin was - how clear and smooth this has never happened before. I started with the 20 pills a day for 3 months and this worked so well, my skin was completely clear! I then gradually decreased the dose to 8 tablets a day and this worked incredibly well for 2 years! Then I went on holiday and when I came back, my skin got worse and worse. I have had a year's break from b5 and have taken antibiotics in between as well as gone back onto a different pill - dianette - but am now back on it and have taken for two days, I haven't noticed s difference yet, but these things take time!

works very good and is cheap
I have been taking b-5 for the last 8 months and it works very good. I take 4- 500mg pills a day and it has made my skin less oily than it has ever been and I am not getting cystic acne anymore. You can get a bottle of 250 pills for $13 on Amazon and it is well worth it. I have not had any negative side effects from it either.

Works Pretty Good for me.
I took B5 about 5 days ago at about 1g - 2g's a day with L-cysteine and Vitamin C like I read in another post and It has helped me Significantly! I have had little to no Oil on my Skin and my breakouts are not even that big of a breakout. Totally recommend it, But many have reported side effects so I would recommend starting at a Low Does with some Anti Oxidants.

I thought it worked but I plateaued and then worsened after a few months

Pros:

It helps somewhat but results might be short lived.
Not taking a nasty drug

Cons:

Inconvenient to take so many pills every day
Not sure of the long term side effects.
diarrhea

I am changing my original review .... I initially took 5 grams each day for 5 days. Then went to 10 grams every day, space over 4 increments. I had minor stomach discomfort for a couple of days only. I did this for about 6 months and then stopped after I eventually decided it wasn't really working. I did actually notice a steady gradual improvement which motivated me to keep going. BUT upon reflection, I THINK it was just mean reversion - which is a common problem with anecdotal evidence I can admit I fell for. You see, before this treatment, I was using an LED blue light for a few months which really messed up my face, causing hundreds of black/white heads. While that sounds fairly harmless, it really took me 6 months to get rid of them and my complexion was really awful due to the light. This gradual clearing happened when I was on the B5. But I don't think it was the B5. I think it was the absence of the blue light. Meanwhile during the B5, even though all those hundreds of little plugs were slowly clearing, I was still getting roughly the same number of new pimples as before. I was also dealing with mild accurate on chronic diarrhea the whole time on the b5. I went a week or two or even three being fine and then maybe a week it would flare up. It was worse with caffeine, even chocolate. Then, after I hit 6 months, reality seemed to sink in that the number of new pimples I was getting wasn't really reducing, and the overall texture of my face had plateaued. Again, it was better, but I think it was just going back to how it was before I started the blue light. It might have even worsened a bit at this point, and I so went cold turkey, stopping all the pills. It just became clear it wasn't worth it. However, my next quest turned out to be blissfully successful in about 2-3 weeks. 6 cups of green tea per day plus a topical vitamin C powder (brand "Philosophy"). I for some reason have an increased need for antioxidants (which surprised me since my diet is truly impeccable.) Cheap, natural, easy and effective. Feeling great about my story. Good luck! i'm aged 31 and female.

Pros:

- Reduces oil
- Clears acne

I had a pretty moderate case of acne, until I tried taking birth control for it, and it turned into a severe case of acne! I stopped taking the birth control after two months and started taking 7g of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) a day: 7 x 500 mg in the morning and 7 x 500 mg in the evening. On top of that, I take 100 000 I.U. of the vitamin Beta Carotene: 2 x 25000 I.U. in the morning and 2 x 25000 I.U. in the evening. I noticed improvements in my skin within one week and after about probably three weeks, my skin was perfectly clear! It's actually unbelievable and I definitely suggest you try both vitamins! I'm not sure if one of them is working, or the combination of both, but either way, there's no harm in taking them! I've been on them for about 6 months now and am very pleased with my skin! Also, on a side note, I notice that when I drink coffee, my acne flares up. If you're a coffee drinker, you may want to try stopping for a week and see if your acne clears! My skin texture changes drastically once I stop drinking coffee. Hope this helps and please do try it!
