Easy Go-to
I will first say, that if you have sensitive skin or are otherwise irritated by toothpaste, DONT DO IT! This can make your breakouts worse and cause rashes among other symptoms. Because it's also not designed for skin, I wouldn't recommend doing this too often, even if you DON'T get a reaction the first time. Just buy an astringent wash if you need it more than a few times a week. Word of the wise, don't apply this too close to your eyes, the minty fumes will irritate them. Now, if you're like me, with otherwise tough skin, toothpaste is a pretty quick fixer-upper. Just a dab or two on the hot spots, leave it on a few hours (or overnight), and it'll be dried out and ready to leave. With all its drawbacks, I only give it five stars because it's so quick and almost always on hand.

Pros:

Works somewhat if you have no other options
Leaves your skin clean and smelling fresh

Cons:

Irritates sensitive skin more than it helps
Some brands/types will give you chemical burns
Hard to get off of your face, so after you scrub it off your pimples are flaming red and irritated

Toothpaste works occasionally, but only use it as a last option.

Pros:

Currently still clearing my acne! Works like a charm

Cons:

Aggravating knowing that you will have to hot rinse it off later;
Getting your pillow stained blue

I have had TERRIBLE acne since i was 13. I will be turning 20 in June of this year. I just started putting Crest (blue paste, not the gel!) Plus Scope Cool Peppermint for about three months now and my acne has been get WAY better, drastically. Bottom line is, I havent seen my face like since since i was 12, and im 19 boout to be 20. Thats a damn shame! Anyway the point is, THIS product, and this alone is curing my scne. I might as well say cured cured there has been a 87% improvent in my face within the past 3 months! Im so happy I started using it! Listen, acne only exsit because of the extra oil that builds up in out glands/hair follicles. Toothpaste is obviously a drying agent, so, its makes common sense that if you put it on your face everyday and everynight, then it will dty and kill all of that oil and bacteria! Thank the Lord for toothpaste!

Pros:

It works in getting rid of the pimple(s) or making the smaller. Outs the redness a bit as well.

Cons:

Burns a little and can make the eyes water depending. Drys out the skin.

Do NOT leave this on your face for more than an hour. If you do those areas will be extremely dried out. With in addition the covered area being temporarily discolored a purplish brown for up to a few weeks. So don't leave it on over night like so many people here are doing and end up saying its bad. Believe me, I did that myself and the above happened. I recommend leaving it on for 15-20 minutes and then washing it off with soap. Also do NOT cover your whole face with it. This works best as a spot treatment.

Pros:

inexpensive, quick results, dries & shrinks acne, leaves skin smooth

Cons:

since i sleep w/ it on, the toothpaste smell can be a little overwhelming at first... who cares because the benefits outweigh the costs.

I have been battling severe cystic acne for 23 yrs old. I've tried prescribed medications, Neutrogena, and Proactiv in the past and nothing worked as fast and as good as toothpaste. With the toothpaste, I saw immediate & positive results in just one day. I applied at nite and rinse off in the morning. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how much my acne improved and how smooth my face felt. I now apply it every nite and couldn't be more satisfied w/ the results. No more buying expensive so-called acne products for me! Toothpaste is the way to go!!!

Depends
If your skin is oily as f**k like mine, the over drying and irritation is not much of an issue. Granted, I find that most people do not have extremely oily skin like I do, so be careful. I also think that Its not just the kind of skin you have that should be taken into consideration, but also the type of acne that you have. I do not use it for pimples that are near the surface and will most likely get cleansed. I use it for the breakouts that are much deeper underneath the skin, and don't seem to want to come to the surface and heal. Drying out the skin of this kind of acne helps speed the process.

Awful idea
Don't put toothpaste on your face...that much should be obvious.

Results depend on person and if you apply right. Read description.

Pros:

drys out pimple
not to harsh
does not sting

Cons:

only for overnight use

At night dab a little on the pimple (not all over face as a mask or crazy) then when you wake up it will have started to work or have gotten rid of it. Never have I seen a horrible reaction from people who apply the RIGHT way. Try it, why not?

Pros:

It can decrease the size of pimples, it gives a nice fresh tingling feel to the skin. Gets rid of black heads too.

Cons:

It can be very drying and a little hard to get off.

It works. I use it when I'm having serious breakouts and the second I wash it off I can see a difference. Caution though dont use if longer than five minuets at a time and for maximum benefits use a regular acne medication and a little moisturizer. But also it may not work for your skin type so be aware of that too. Good Luck!
