Skin is dry and flaky!
I have had acne for probably 5 years. I'm a sophomore in high school and my acne has turned me into the most antisocial person you'll ever meet, because I'm so embarrassed to be in public where I know all anyone looks at is my skin. I decided to try something new because my proactiv plus just wasn't doing the trick. I had been using it for a long time and still just wasn't consistently clear. I have been using the regimen for almost 3 weeks now and my skin is disgusting. My acne is worse than it was, but that isn't the biggest issue. It is so dry than my face is flaking. It's really embarrassing and uncomfortable. I ordered the jojoba oil yesterday because I heard that might help. I'll post again after seeing if that works!

Patience is the key. I just started my second month and my skin was very dry, dark and disgusiting as well. But the results afterwards is worth it!

I second that. It took 2-3 months for my dryness to clear but man was it ever worth it. Just slather on moisturizer whenever you need it.

Doesn't REALLY help
I don't know about other people, but I know about me. Ive been using this product for a long time. 2-3 month. But nothing happened. I don't have huge acnes, but I have little acnes and sometimes a big one pops out. I do what the regimen says, wash my face, use the product (I don't really use the moisturizer) and do it twice a day. But It didn't really work. My acnes just went down by it self after 3-4 days leaving a red or black mark for a long time (Looks really ugly). And I still have a bunch of small pimples on my fore head. Don't know why every one says it works like magic...

Go to the doctor. The same sort of thing happened to me. The doctor might prescribe you doxycycline.

Mirena & Acne
Hello All! I am a 30 year old female with combo skin; I was also born, raised, and reside in Arkansas. I'm not going to blame my embarrassing acne on the weather or what Arkansas offers on a daily basis, but I will say I've been battling this embarrassing stuff since I was 13 years old. TMI: I was considered a "woman" at the age of 9 -- so this may have jump started this war zone. Either way, a cure for acne sure would be nice. Hah! I have been on gels, creams, medications, birth control, proactiv, melaleuca products, Rodan & Fields, charcoal, oil cleansing treatment, baking soda, Avon, clarity, Clinique, Mary Kay, some other off brand treatments or even very high end treatments, and all the essential oil treatments that are supposed to work wonders.. well... here I am. Writing this review... I will say the Mirena is my worst nightmare.... I never knew that kind of acne existed. I've always had every kind of acne you could think of on my face. I like to think of it as identifying what kind of trees are in the woods. My face is the woods and the acne on my face is the trees. So much variety! Hah! I have seriously dealt with them all but dealt with more cystic acne. The black heads and white heads can kick rocks on a daily basis, but the cystic keeps kicking my tail end day in and day out. I have lots of scars but it is getting better with this regimen. Is it clearing up my skin? Yes it is, but it's doing the best it absolutely can. With Mirena, it's an endless maze with too many dead ends. The pimples I do get fade extremely quickly. The pimples I do get form to a head faster so the cystic acne doesn't try to stay at a Mount Olympus status as long. Which is nice! Lol! Yes, I should get rid of the Mirena, but I'm doing what my doctor is telling me. I have another couple of months to see how this works and if I'm not seeing any change, then the Mirena will go. I have been on the regimen since the middle of January and it's the end of March. I'm going to keep this regimen close to my heart for the next couple of months.. I have pictures but I don't see a place to post them. I will keep updating this along my battle/journey. Any tips would be much appreciated. Oh, and yes, I know there are many options of different forms of birth control. I am very aware and weighing my options AFTER my doctor and I decide this just isn't working. Best wishes to those who have a similar situation. We can get through this, some how and some way!

it seems as if your issue lies with your birth control, not the regimen. your rating can be misleading to others who are looking for something that will finally clear up their skin. whenever I'm considering purchasing something online I always look to the more negative reviews to shed some light on what may go wrong. I hope you can change your rating or edit your review to focus on the regimen and its effectiveness, not the birth control.

Wish I never started using this product.
I was DESPERATE. I wanted my acne to be gone for good so I did my research and after trying numerous products (that never seemed to work) I stumbled upon "the regimen". I lasted about a week just researching the product and seeing videos from people who have bought the it; since they were all satisfied and claimed they had amazing results, I went ahead and bought it. It just made my acne worst. I started getting acne in places around my face that I wouldn't normally get. Now I am in no way bashing the product I am just writing this because when i bought the product there seemed to barely ( if any) have any "bad" reviews. Also I am aware that there is a certain way the product should be put on and all that but sadly for me it just didn't work. All in all, some products dont work on everyone and this definitely did not work for me. GOOD LUCK!

This product brings all acne under the skin to the surface before it clears it up! That is what I found happened to my face too! Don't lose hope. You must be persistent for about a month and a half before you start seeing real results and about 4-6 months before your face will be 100% clear! This stuff isn't a one week miracle but it certainly is a miracle is you're patient with it and go through the annoying breakouts and dry skin first!

I experience the same thing. I never had acne around my mouth or on my cheeks and jawline but I've been using the regimen for over 2 months now and it just keeps spreading. It did go away on my forehead and temples but keeps appearing in new places. Still hoping it gets better but it might just be wishful thinking!:/

majorly mixed feelings

I have mild to sometimes moderate acne and the regimen itself defintely helped clear my acne. But it left my skin mostly my cheeks extremely red and irritated. Using the regimen my skin was extremely dry even having oily skin, my skin would constantly peel off sometimes in hard clumps. It also tanned my skin unnaturally. Don't use if you have sensitive skin.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
im not going to bash any of these products whatsoever because clearly it worked for millions of people; but from my personal experience i believe it caused excma on my face after less than a week of using, maybe because my skin may be sensitive. although i don't recommend the treatment nor moisturizer, i do stronly recommend the cleanser.

2 month review
I've been using the regimen for around 2 months now. I purchased the regimen for both the face and body. I pretty much have acne on my back, face, neck and chest area. I'll start with my back. So far the results have been wonderful. My acne is almost completely healed. The acne that I have now are small in comparison to the cystic acne I had before in this area. I am confident my acne will be completely clear in 4 months. I don't always use twice per day on my back. I always use once per day but somedays time does not permit twice per day usage on my back. Also, I mix the AHA with lotion. It doesn't burn as much with the lotion. My face- My face is still breaking out. I would say it may be even worse or the same as before I started the regimen. My complexion looks brighter but the acne is still here. I do use the regimen twice per day on my face 95% of the time. One month into the regimen, I started mixing the lotion with Jojoba oil in the morning and AHA at night. My skin flaked like no other but the flaking has improved. A few things to note- I am African American my skin flakes on my eyelids and under eyes really bad. The skin turns dark, giving the appearance of raccoon eyes or black eyes. I hate this. I have to wait for the skin to flake off. This is annoying. I am in the sun a lot. I'm not sure the sun is having an effect on my skin but I've starting wearing more sunscreen. My neck and chest - The regimen itches my neck and chest really bad. I don't have this problem with my face and back. I am still having some cystic acne on my neck and chin. My chest is clearing up nicely with occasional breakouts here and there. Overall, I'm going to the give the product a 3 because I'm ecstatic with the results of my back. I'll come back and update at the 4 month mark. If the black eye problem and face acne does not change for the better, I will change my rating.

Pros:

-Good for mild acne
-Simple Regimen to follow
-Skin does not become resistant to BP over years of usage compared to other antibiotics

Cons:

-NOT good for more severe cases of acne
-VERY time consuming
-Discolors pillows
-Can leave face oily
-Redness and dryness will surely occur
-Expensive

This regimen and the philosophy of using only a low dose of Benzoyl Peroxide for all acne cases is silly. The low dose of BP is great for people with mild acne, but does not cover the wide range of acne cases that may exist. I have suffered with acne for years. I have been prescribed everything under the sun including adapalene, Retin- A, Duac, and most others. For me Duac(5%BP 1%clindmycin) worked best for the years that I took it. After three years of carefree and perfect skin Duac's results became mediocre and my dermatologist said the BP was still working but my skin had become resistant to the clindamycin. (my skin is under control now, but I'm using a complex mix of antibiotics and retinoids) If you aren't allergic to clindamycin and have not taken it before, Duac is a much better choice and covers a much wider range of acne cases than the regimen. It has prescription strength antibiotics, which you can only get from a doctor, and it is much less time consuming to use than the regimen (5 minutes a day as oppose to 25 X2). In conclusion, the regimen is perfectly okay for mild to very mild acne sufferers, but anything more complex a dermatologist should be consulted.
