Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin perfectly.

Cons:

Funky smell that takes some getting use to.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! I read online about a study that said that young boys who are routinely exposed to products that contain tea tree (even small amounts like in shampoos or soaps) can develope breasts because tea tree has estrogen mimicers. I guess that this product would be great for girls but it did clear up my skin when I used it. I diluted it in jojoba oil which made my skin super soft.

Pros:

natural, doesn't make me peel

Cons:

scent takes some getting used to

i LOVE this stuff! i mix half of a dropper full with two ounces of jojoba oil in a dropper bottle, and use it after i wash my face. it may not be for everyone, but it's dramatically reduced the redness, pain, and quantity of my pimples. on a related note, i use dr. bronner's tea tree oil miracle soap to clean my face. again, the scent is VERY herbal, a bit like eucalyptus, but it wears off very quickly, and you get used to it.

Pros:

it's a natural product.

Cons:

doesn't make much of a difference.

tried tea tree oil on my jaw acne...it didn't make it worse but didn't make any big imporvements either. worth a try i guess.

Pros:

I have seen fairly dramatic results. I never have had a acne problem, only pimples here or there...I now have maybe one a week..and I have naturally very oily skin, so tea tree dosn't dry me out badly at all. I dont think it is for everyone though.

Cons:

the smell is overwhelming at first.my dad thought I was putting ammonia on my face..haha..and it makes your tear glads go crazy if it gets too close to the eyes.which happens pretty much everytime I use it.but unless your a bitcher you should be fine

It's all natural, which is the basic appeal for me, I don't like using contrived ingredients on my body. It's worth a shot for people, but it may not be the end all saving grace of your problems.
