Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

clears up acne and generally the best thing I've found

Cons:

smells really strong and makes my eyes water sometimes and dries out my skin causing flaking

I used different products and found no results, within about 2-3 days of using this i found my skin had improved brilliantly, i was really happy thinking from here on my skin would just get better. however, I've now been using it for about 3 weeks and these past few days my skin has got really bad, worse and worse with each day (any help)?

Pros:

Clears up skin, controls oil, tightens pores

Cons:

Burns a little at first in dry areas

I used to use it in high school to clear up pimples and I just started to break out again and it is working as good as ever. Clears up my skin pretty fast, pimples practically disappear in few days. No new pimples since I started using it again Much cheaper and safer way to treat and control breakouts and as a spot treatment. Reading the insert in my benzoyl peroxide prescription it says "may bleach clothes or hair"....that is not something I want on my face! I would much rather use tea tree, and it works just as well without the severe over-drying

Pros:

dries spots in a few hours of use

Cons:

doesnt get rid of persistant spots. doesnt stop spots from coming up either. bit it does reduce redness almost instantly

my spots leave really bad marks, sometimes its more the marks which are the problem then the actual acne. so its quite good.

Pros:

None

Cons:

It dries up our skin and it didn't help me at all; made the problem worse!

It obviously works on some people, but I guess it just depends on your skin type. For me, it didn't work. Oh well.
