Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Conrols breakouts, dries blemishes quickly, quickens healing of already popped or inflamed blemishes, reduces amount of blackheads over time

Cons:

none

I use a couple drops mixed in with an aloe and glycerin based gel I got in a waxing kit. So far, the combination has worked wonders on my stubborn breakouts and has even helped to accelerate healing on my face, causing all those pits and boxcars-to-be mesh back into my healthy skin. Though not a fan of Neutrogena, I use the Oil- Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Cream Cleanser, I combine this with BeFine's Firming Toner as it contains a natural source of salicylic acid. The gel and tea tree oil I use as a daytime moisturizer, and during the night I use a vitamin c cream with the tea tree. I have 2 spots, but you can thank hormones for that ;)

Pros:

inexpensive, clears zits up QUICK, reduces redness

Cons:

smells funky, kinda burns/tingles

I swear by tea tree oil. I used to be on EVERY type of acne medication OTC and prescription, proactive, etc. This oil is the one product I love. Just use a Q-tip to put the oil on. I like to put it on in the morning before putting my make-up on...and the redness and size of any pimple goes down almost immediately. Clears up pimples in a couple of days. I also use Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Fash Wash with Tea Tree Oil & Awapuhi twice daily...and once a week I'll wash with the Proactive face scrub. Hope this helps!

Pros:

dries out acne... QUICK

Cons:

the smell isn't pleasant at first, but believe it or not, i've learned to like it!

IT IS WORTH TRYING!! Some people find it expensive (about 5-10 dollars for a few ozs) but it lasts a pretty long time, therefore I don't find it expensive at all.

Pros:

clears up acne and generally the best thing I've found

Cons:

smells really strong and makes my eyes water sometimes and dries out my skin causing flaking

I used different products and found no results, within about 2-3 days of using this i found my skin had improved brilliantly, i was really happy thinking from here on my skin would just get better. however, I've now been using it for about 3 weeks and these past few days my skin has got really bad, worse and worse with each day (any help)?
