Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

dries out pimples
works especially well for cyst zits
use as a spot treatment

Cons:

scent,
doesnt work immediately
can dry skin aroun the area, but u can just peel it off it's just dried out skin cells

I know some ppl saw results right away, but i didnt. I had to use it consistantly, but it does work, it really dries out your big painful zits. i mix 2 parts water with 1 part tto, and it's really good, but make sure u mix well because water and oil dont go well together

I decided to test out tea tree oil after using proactiv for a couple years (which worked very inconsistantly decent for me). Ive been using tea trea oil for a week, and it seems to be primarily preventing breakouts but so far it hasnt eliminated acne i had prior to using it. It definately does not irritate your skin, but occasionaly drys out my skin slightly. The smell isnt the greatest, but you will get use to it. Ive just been diluting it with water. Im not sure exactly how much TTO to put in, and water. If anyone has any suggestions on how much tea tree oil to use with water or even another product to mix it with it would be greatly appreciated.

Pros:

Natural antibiotic and healer. Can be used in small amounts on an ongoing basis, without chemical dryness. Refreshing sensation.

Cons:

STINKY! Used in high-concentration, it stings and causes more delicate skin to temporarily redden. Not an instant solution.

I mix this 1:3 with jojoba oil, and massage 12 drops total into my skin after a shower. I have dry skin! Followed by toner/moisturizer and a quick patting-off of any excess, I do find it keeps my pores working healthily.

Pros:

Really dried out zits and started to heal them a lot faster. I started noticing results within just a few hours of my first application.

Cons:

Smells BAD. Blech. It can way over-dry your skin if you're not careful. I dilute it with a q-tip and use it only as a spot treatment for fear that my face would completely flake off if I used it all over.

Really great natural product. You have to dilute it, though or you'll be in trouble. It really dries things out and that could be harmful if used all over. Best as a spot treatment. I use 100% tea tree oil and it's worked great to get rid of zits fast. However, it doesn't do much for scars.

Pros:

Works very well if used correctly.

Cons:

Does NOT work well if undiluted.

I bought TTO a while ago and was using it all over my face as I heard it is par with BP in terms of clearing up acne. Silly me however, just slapped a bunch all over my face undiluted. This aggravated my skin and I broke out even more. I'm trying it out again diluted, as my pimples did get smaller practically overnight. DILUTE THE OIL! You can use a Qtip with water as mentioned or mix it with sweet almond oil or whatever else you have.

Pros:

clears up flaky skin

Cons:

strong smell

I've been using TTO in my hair moisturizing spray and notice that I don't have the flakiness around my hair line and the dandruff has disappeared. I've just begun adding it to my face cream and love the clean, tingly feel that it gives my skin. Already I notice that my skin is less oily and less shiny. I am so excited to finally have found something natural and effective that I'm going to add TTO to all of my hair and skin products.

Pros:

it does clear skin

Cons:

will dry it out if you have sensitive skin.

I had really bad acne and I was feeling hopeless. I went to the health food store and got some Tea tree facial cleanser with awapuhi and at first it did dry the skin out however,,after continual use,,my face did adjust.I have natually oily skin so I just used my own moisture and oil in my skin to moisturize. I was in the morning and at night. then I use a toner occasionally but the tea tree is a great product just have to learn how to use it
