Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Only a small amount is needed
Feels fresh, feels good that yours using something organic and pure

Cons:

Only worked for small blemished and spots
shouldn't be used for outright acne
Can sting, but it sometimes doesn't
Small bottle is expensive
Gets used quickly

It's good for small spots and blemishes if thats all you get, but apart from that it isn't really effective for general acne, the odd spot yeah, it may work for you, it worked for me when I used to get a spot or 2, but when I actually got 'acne' it just didnt work. At one point I was clear and had an event to go to the next day, I broke out a day before with large spots, around my T zone, mainly cheeks, tea tree oil didn't do anything and I applied a generous amount of it for 2 days.

Pros:

Clears out acne if used consistently
Cleans acne wounds and sores
Anti-bacterial

Cons:

Its green scent can be overwhelmingly pungent
Can sting
Can be too drying

Tea tree oil saves my day. I used to use OXY with benzoyl peroxide but have found out that tea tree oil is an organic equivalent so I've switched. I have oily face so I apply 2-3 drops evenly over my whole face after moisturizing. It stops acne in its tracks, so to speak. Only bad part about tea tree oil is that when you use too much or too frequently through the day, the oil can dry out your skin and cause it to flake. Just don't be too generous with it. A little goes a long way.

Pros:

Seemed like it got rid of acne at first

Cons:

Smell
Stopped working and made my acne worse
Left red sploches on my skin, that are still there to this day, 4 weeks later

This didn't work for me. I tried it undiluted, and it seemed to work, and i guess it just got too harsh for my skin and now i have red blotches on my skin that won't go away. I recommend diluting it first. I even tried diluting it into my face wash, and it hasnt really worked since.

Pros:

It's not harsh, works quickly, doesn't dry out your skin or make it oily.

Cons:

None =)

I bought this product about 5 days ago & have been applying it 2-3 times a day everyday & oh my gosh... it works so well. I applied it the first night I got it & when I washed my face the next morning my face was far less bumpy & didn't look as oily throughout the day (my face can get really oily so that was awesome). The next day there was hardly any pimples at all & the ones that were there were smaller & less red. I got the tea tree oil gel because I heard that pure tea tree oil can be sort of harsh on your skin but I haven't tried it. When I get pimples they just won't fade but with tea tree oil even the pimples I had for at least a month are decreasing in size literally over night. Benzoyl peroxide felt really harsh on my face & made it red & kind of itchy but this is so mild & works so well. Sure the smell is strong but I don't mind it & I think it's worth it because the results are fantastic. Tea tree oil is awesome.

Pros:

Really clears acne, smooths skin and takes care of blimishes!

Cons:

The smell and the daily applications

Me and my girl went to The Body Shop where a sales lady recommended the Tea Tree Oil treatment! So she took the sample (Small container of wash and moisturizer) home and literately in a week her face was clear! She does have bad acne, so I went back and purchased the exfoliating scrub, the regular wash, Toner, daily lotion, night time blemish lotion and concentrated spa acne treatment (All Tea Tree)! Best stuff ever!

Pros:

It dried up my acne greatly! And my scars are starting to disappear

Cons:

My skin's mostly combination, so it can get dry in various areas. So I top it with moisturizer

I purchased the Daily cleanser, Night Cleanser, Tea Tree Oil, and the Tea Tree Concealer from the Body Shop all on monday night. It is now friday afternoon and all the acne I had on monday completely dried up! It'll break your budget a bit, but it's definitely worth it!

Pros:

It started to dry up my pimples almost as soon as I applied it. Works especially well on blind pimples. Takes the redness away and reduces inflammation.

Cons:

None

I've had acne since I was teen (now 40) and was on antibiotics for years. I've tried so many remedies (i.e. chinese herbs, infrared sauna, shea butter, etc). The first time I tried tea tree oil was years ago from the Body Shop and it didn't work (made my acne worse). I started using New Co. brand yesterday and I can already see an amazing difference.

Pros:

Makes my skin glow and dries out pimples pretty quickly.

Cons:

Does cause some whiteheads to appear initially, but apparently that is the oil being pulled up from your skin by the tea tree oil. The do go away with continued use.
