Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

WORKS SO WELL

Cons:

errrr..................

aaaaaaaaaaaah i love love love pure teaa tree oil. I only have very mild acne....(it used to be mild - moderate, but I am on Trimethoprim tablets from my Doctor, and DUAC GEL which is amazing and I swear by it... I dread to think what my skin would be like without it. So at the moment I have oily skin and a couple of zits every few days but thanks to tea tree oil, I have none at the moment! I put it on my cheek area (where I break out most) every night, and it seems to stop zits forming and I haven't (touch wood) had ANYYY zits at all for 2 weeks now! It's amazing. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Pros:

Reduces size of acne, Good for whiteheads and random breakouts caused by mistreatment of skin, Good substitute for BP

Cons:

Dryness, Strong smell, itchiness,

I used this as a replacement for my extended addiction to Proactive, and it worked great as a spot treatment for acne that's coming to the surface. I wouldn't use it all over my face though--too drying. In general, this dries my skin far too much for everday use, but if you're trying to wean yourself off BP then this is good. But it really doesn't improve overall skin health and is best used as a spot treatment for acne caused by overnight bacteria.

Pros:

it helps alot.

Cons:

Wash your hands after because they will look white from the dried oil.

I have had bacne since I was a teen, I'm 43 now. In the winter, it is really bad and stubborn with some cysts lasting for weeks. Recently it dawned on me that tea tree oil is a natural anti bacterial and acne has bacteria in it. I put the oil on 2x a day with my fingertips. I have seen a marked improvement. My painful bumps have been shrinking faster and I haven't been bleeding nearly as much. In fact, I really haven't had much new bacne since I started. Since a small bottle (which lasts a while) costs only 5.99 at a national store which rhymes with Raider Moe's.... this is a no brainer. I am also going to get a UV lamp which should definitely help.

Pros:

Dries acne, makes it seem to heal faster. Is natural.

Cons:

Causes hard lumps under the skin that turn into cystic acne and leave bad scars.

I was putting dabs of pure tea tree oil on acne to dry it up. After a while I realised it was causing hard lumps to form where I had been applying it. They lasted ages and turned into cystic acne that scarred. Now I have stopped using it I no longer get this. So if you intend to use this stuff keep a close eye out for this in case it happens to you. These scars will take many years to heal, if they ever do :( Disaster

Pros:

also i like the smell (but most ppl dont)

Cons:

Seems to form whiteheads...but i think it just cleaning out the bacteria.

I just recently purchased some tea tree oil from "The BodyShop" the facial cleanser, day time mositurizer, night lotion, and their face mask, it works wonders, mind you i only been on this regimen for 2-3 days... but i can already see a difference and thats alot coming from me as i did everything from proactive to laser surgery, nothing really helped me dramatically as tea tree oil has.. I have sensitive/oily skin and i am very acne prone. I have moderate/ to i guess mild acne.. but just try it!! it works inever used the 100 percent one.. but the bodyshop is 15 percent and it works just as good i think

Pros:

It gets rid of a lot of dirt and oil

Cons:

It doesn't clear acne all by itself

I've been using witch hazel, followed by tea tree oil. I was amazed at how much oil and dirt from my face was on the cotton ball after I used the tea tree oil. Thats how I know that it's good at getting rid of the oil on your face. My acne isn't as bad as it was, but there are still some pimples that have come back. Also, when you use it, make sure you rub your face hard, and you only need a small amount on the cotton ball.

Pros:

Hmm...seems to actually work! As a spot treatment does not seem to be as irritating on the skin as other topical treatments. Inexpensive . Backed by clinical studies.

Cons:

Strong smell.

As a mild/moderate acne sufferer for many years, mainly around the chin/jaw area, I've continuously been on the search for a treatment that would be both effective AND tolerable for my sensitive skin. I think I may have found it. Subjectively, I've noticed it seems to be very effective undiluted as spot treatment on new acne lesions that are just beginning to form, reducing its size and redness significantly within 24 hours of its application. I have not tried it on unaffected parts of my face for prevention purposes yet. As a physician, I was curious to see if there were any clinical studies done to prove the effectiveness of tea tree oil. As it turns out, studies using only 5% tea tree oil has been shown to be as effective as 5% BP on reducing mild to moderate acne but with less irritation.

Pros:

inexpensive, can use all over body, has many uses

Cons:

there are no cons for me!!!

I have been using tea tree oil for over 7 years and mix it with cetaphil moisturizing cream as my one step skin treatment. I have had only mild breakouts when i get lazy or forget to use it and I love the smell although some of my friends do not. My skin has been so good for so long, but I ran out of tea tree and forgot about it. I started wearing makeup and got horrible acne from something that was comedogenic. Since then I have used Kern's to get clear(intending to go back to tea tree) But, the skin darkening from the BP is annoying, so I'm glad to be back to tea tree.

Pros:

Has reduced my breakouts, blackhead and redness significantly.

Cons:

I like the smell, my husband hates it. It takes a commitment of time to see significant results (2-3 months). It's a natural product that takes time to work. At first I had dry, flakey skin but that has all stopped once my skin got healthy from it

Think this is the best thing I have done for my skin ever! It's super affordable to buy a $8 bottle of Tea Tree oil that lasts six months. I love the tingly sting it gives my face. I'm amazed that my red coloring around my nose is almost gone (I'm 38 and have struggled with acne for years)and my black heads on my nose are quite minimized. My T-Zone oily skin has been more evened out and my red blochy spots are minimizing. I think this prodect is worth a try but it needs more than a week for results.
