Pros:

leaves skin smoother and clearer

Cons:

causes massive peeling and redness

Just be careful not to slack off. I used it for about a year then I started to forget about it and my acne got horrible. My doctor moved my up to the regular strengh from the mild and i have only been using the regular for about a week but my skin is dry, red, flaky and painful. Im hoping I will get used to it. Is it ok to use moisturizer with it? my doctor said it would make it less effective but my skin really hurts...

Pros:

Clears up skin somewhat

Cons:

Burns skin, leaves red, flaky marks behind, hard to apply

I've only been on this product for 4 weeks, so I'm not seeing major results yet (but hope to!). My doctor recommended the mild gel to use every 3 days (basically twice a week), and I started out on that regime. However, it seemed to be clearing and my sensitive skin was tolerating it, so I started every second day. BIG MISTAKE. Seriously, do what your doctor tells you! I am now trying to diminish large red marks along my jaw and cheeks, that turn yellow and scaly when dried out. It's awful, and it burns as well. I have stopped using the product on those sections until it "heals" (which I hope it does). I also found that the moisturizer I was using (Alba Organics oil-free) started to burn my skin after I had used the Stievamycin, so I wasn't sure if I should use the lotion before or after. Any suggestions? Also tried the Cetaphil SPF lotion, and it made my skin much drier! But the gentle cleanser is awesome!

Pros:

clears skin

Cons:

clears skin in a few months AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE

I started in August and my face is now clear. It cleared in October and I still use it. I've come to understand, like any cleanser, you need to use some treatment to clear blemishes. I don't use the stievamycin so much now but I do us the Phisohex daily. Around my cycle I use stievmycin more. Phisohex can only be purchased w/ a prescription but it works better than any other cleanser I ever used. I just need to go to the doctor, ask what I can and cannot use on my face and get a new prescription for Phisohex. Do not give up. I am black and thought this wouldn't work for me and feared having to use Proactiv forever. Either way you, need to clean you face and use a regimen that doesn't cause irritation and breakouts, if you are prone, so one that works is best.

Pros:

less redness on my back

Cons:

tingly burning feel after application

My derm perscribed this for my back mixing back and forth with clindoxyl gel. Don't over apply as you would visibly see it dry on your back. I never used it on my face and couldnt imagine what it would feel like =.

Pros:

-clears mild acne
-reduces cysts bumps
-removes scars

Cons:

-caused dry, flaky, itchy,red skin
-burns when applying, especially on open pores
-still does not clear up all my acne

A doctor gave me this gel, started with regular, and still using it. I tried it when i was 14 when my acne was bad but not that severe, maybe 3-5 cysts and a hell lot of whiteheads and blacheads. This gel was a burden to use, because my acne was random all over my face, so i had to put it everywhere causing it to be like a mask. i saw a difference in the first 2-3 days, then it got worse, but that was part of the process. Flushing out all the bacteria out and washing it off of the top layer of gel. Well the bottom line is, it does work but never really cleared up my acne, my scars have faded but i still get cysts, but no whiteheads? Well anyways it did nothing for my blackheads, they just sat there clogging my pore and i also found that the gel seemed to make my pores mor visible, and i'm pretty sure its not from popping any zits, cuz even if its hard to believe i've never popped a pimple. I've been on the gel for more than a year and my acne is still not going away.

Pros:

Clears skin quickly and keeps it relatively pimple free. Because of the Vitamin A in Stievamycin it promotes newer skin cells to surface allowing a restorative effect to the skin.

Cons:

Dryness and burning. However, both can be easily combated by only using treatment every other day until you skin is less irritated.
As for the sun exposure warning, personally I did not follow this and experienced no additional side effects.

Stievamycin is one of the best choice for a long-term topical treatment. Although if you experience acne elsewhere than on you face Stievamycin is not a logical choice. Overall great product and I highly recommend it!
