Pros:

Very effective control of acne, no more cramps during my period, regular "periods", higher self-esteem because of clear skin

Cons:

Nauseous, moody, weight gain

The first two months of taking Diane 35 I was very very nauseous but stuck through it because my skin was really affecting my self-esteem. It was hard to look people in the eye because I felt like my skin was so horrible. I just entered university and I was breaking out like crazy! I got on the pill and was determined to stick through it. I endured sprawling on the bathroom floor next to the toilet waiting to puke during those first two months (this intense nausea happened about 4-5 times during my first two months). But after that I only got stomache aches when I took a pill without food. My skin got SO much better, it got SO clear and it was unbelievable because I thought that I would never be able to go back to clear skin after breaking out. BUT I found that my calves for some reason are so much chunkier, I've been upset more then I've ever been in my life and I feel bad that I am abusing my body just for my skin. I am trying to get off of it soon.. but it really does work for skin.

Pros:

My skin was clear and luminous for 4 months and it didn't affect my moods.

Cons:

MAJOR weight gain...and I know it is harsher on your blood vessels than any of the other pills...and I didn't want to have a stroke at age 31!

I work for a dermatologist and my skin was breaking out terribly...even though I was using a Retin-A product daily. I went on Triphasil in the spring and it messed me up so badly that I never got back on track and I had cystic acne on my chin every day for months. Finally, my boss put me on Diane 35 and my skin cleared up within a day or two! Seriously! But I gained tons of weight despite working out. I have noticed more spider veins on my legs too which is a side effect.

Pros:

birth control

Cons:

Acne got much much worse at first, depression and mood swings

I took Diane 35 for nearly a year. During that time I had severe mood swings and fights with my boyfriend. I used to cry all the time for no reason. Although my skin got clearer, the first 2 months I was on it my skin was worse than it had ever been and the zits I had during those months left permanent scares. After breaking up with my boyfriend (yes, it got that bad), I quit the pill and I have never been so happy. I will never go back on this product ever - even though I do miss the clear skin. There must be another solution out there?

Pros:

shorter and lighter periods, my skin is less oily.

Cons:

I have some hair loss that is worring me.

I think Diane is a good medication for people that don't develop side effects, I haven't developed much of them (only the hair loss). I have tried other bc pills and this one really works for me. I haven't gained weight.

Pros:

I have always had very heavy periods with a lot of pain as well as some cystic acne. I had tried many pills before this one and none of them helped my acne or lessened my periods. While taking Diane, my skin has cleared up considerably.

Cons:

I have gained a few pounds but that happens with every pill.

My skin looks so much better and I no longer get painful, cyst-like acne. The price is about the same as other pills and my periods are predictable and less painful. Have stayed on it for years because it works well for me.

Pros:

Clear Skin
Works well to stop pregnancy!

Cons:

Mood Swings
Sore Chest

I have only used this for a couple of weeks and so far its not too bad. The mood swings are a little much and a lot of people around me have noticed that too!

I haven't tried Diane yet but my doctor prescribed it for my acne yesterday. I didn't want to take this, I told the Dr. that I wanted Tri-cyclen Lo because I was on it before and it worked and I had no side effects as well as the benefit of an effective birth control but he insisted I get Diane. The doctor did not disclose any side effects of Diane but through the research I've done it seems that this product has more harmful and/or unwanted side effects than any other "birth control" pill. Even the pharmacist failed to answer my questions about side effects. I took it as there is something to hide. I won't be taking this medication, I will be going back this week to get the Tri-cyclen Lo. I don't understand why a drug like Diane would even be legal in Canada; it's not legal in the U.S. which is a big clue. I would rather be pimply than have the side effects that I read off of the entries here and other research. My face isn't REALLY bad; it's not worth risking my self-esteem.
