Pros:

great skin, no oil, didn't even have to wear cover up, regular periods, hardly any cramps

Cons:

DEPRESSED, shortness of breath, moody, increase in headaches, chest pains

I took Diane-35 for a year and 4 months. It was awesome for my skin, and cleared it up so well I was the happiest I had ever been at the beginning. About a year into it I began having really bad shortness of breaths and ended up in the hospital 2 times, not knowing why I had chest pains and couldn't catch my breath. It was the scariest thing I had ever gone through, but the doctors were idiots and did all these tests on me and had no idea what was wrong with me. I ended up searching the side effects of the Diane and found out that the severe side effects were chest pain and shortness of breath. I got off the pill immediately. I used to be super depressed to the point where I didnt want to get out of bed, let alone live. My sex drive was brutal, I didn't have sex with my boyfriend for over a year. Iv been off the pill for 5 months now, and my skin is the worst it's ever been, but my mood has been so much better and my sex drive is back. Im able to breath fine.I am on no pills since.

Pros:

Reduced light acne within 6 months
Gained no weight, cramps became less painful around the 3rd month

Cons:

Effected concentration
Moodswings
Didn't clear my skin entirely! A bit of a disappiontment!

I'm 18 and I used Diane for a year. When I noticed my skin wasn't clearing up completely I went back to a dermatologist. After he inspected my skin he found that Diane wasn't the answer to my problem - although it did keep it under control. He recommended Oratane (50mg p/d - dosage depends on bodyweight) which I used for six months. Although the symptomes are like nothing I can describe (really painful!!! Perseverance!), I have to say that it was completely worth it. I have gotten so many compliments and I'm so chuffed with the result. I am still using Diane to keep the hormones from "threatening" my smooth skin. As time goes by my skin seems to become more beautiful... If Diane doesn't give you the result you're looking for, there's no harm in asking for a alterior solution!

MIRACLE WORKER for acne and as a birth control, but didn't like the weight gain or mood swings. Everyone is different though.

Pros:

Cleared my face up completely.

Cons:

-Induced severed depression
-Caused me to lose 3/4 of my hair after I stopped taking it
-My acne came back after stopping this medication

I was on Diane 35 for about 5 years to treat acne. It worked amazingly in terms of keeping my face clear. HOWEVER, you are not supposed to be on this pill for more than a few cycles, which for some odd reason my doctor didn't seem to know. After doing my own research an realizing I had been taking them for way too long and how dangerous they are, I stopped taking them. As a result, my hormones are completely screwed up. My acne has come back full force, and to top it all off, it caused more than half of my hair to fall out almost immediately after I stopped taking them. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. It will temporarily clear your skin but in the end create a whole new set of problems. I would rather have just been a teen with acne. Now I am a BALDING 23 year old with acne. I hate my doctor. If your doctor is as reckless as mine and tries to give you this stuff, DO NOT TAKE IT. Oh yeah, did I mention that it also induced severe depression for me as well? Yeah, great stuff.

Pros:

- Cleared skin and not pregnant
- Light periods (and could continue month-to-month, since it is a monophasic pill - like Seasonelle!)
- Cheap with insurance

Cons:

- Sex drive - where does it go?

I am no longer on Diane 35 because it is not available in the US. Diane 35 cleared my skin - not completely, but almost. There would still be small breakouts just before my period, but it was completely manageable. I have been on bcp's for 15+ years, and Diane for about 4-5 years of that. I've been off Diane for about 1.5 years. No pills in all that time before and after Diane have ever worked as well on my skin. I am on Low-Estrin now and my skin looks worse than it ever has to the point that my Dr. prescribed Retin-A (which also does not work for me). Bottom line? I would still be on Diane if only it was available here! I will try Yaz next, compare results, and post here.

Pros:

I used Diane 35 for years. Never had weight problems. the acne does go away.

Cons:

Diane 35 is NOT a CURE for acne. the acne comes back once you stop it. i felt like a slave to the drug for controlling my acne. and went off it. i now l live with my blemishes and use cover-up

it does work. u just CANNOT get OFF and expect a CURE
