Pros:

so far an improvement in skin, slighty larger breasts

Cons:

moodiness, tiredness, depression and crying constantly, excess...EXCESS hunger leading to weight gain, irregular periods, spotting in between periods - BUT MOST OF THIS WAS SOLVED WITH CHANGE OF DIET

In terms of my skin, I am seeing a gradual improvement. I usually break out every week before my period, but I have noticed each new cycle since taking this, my skin gets better and better. i can slowly see the blackheads dissapearing, and despite initial breakouts, this is just the skin getting rid of all the crap. First few weeks the side effects were crazy. the hunger and the depression; my gosh! so i saw a nutritionist who put me on a low/no-carb diet. ie. no wheats, rice, potatoes, starchy things and most importantly - no sugar. this was amazing and basically reduced the hunger, weight gain, and apparantley I am so much less bitcher than i used to be. I am no longer emotional and depressed either. I'm still waiting to see complete results, It's only been 2 and a half months and my main goals are to clear my facial and body acne and the excess hair on my body. here's hoping :)

Pros:

With continued use, cleared acne very well.

Cons:

Migraines (increasing over time), irritability, moodiness, weight gain (fuller cup size (not desired nor required), lowered libido

I Used Diane-35 for over a year continuously. My skin cleared beautifully. However I stopped because of migraines occuring with increasing severity over time. But the acne came back. I have now re-started and am monitoring my diet,etc..since clear skin is a big plus for me despite the negatives. I'm still weighing everything though. I'm just a few days into starting and I've noticed signicant bloating and weight gain. The migraines which had stopped with discontinued use came back very mildly (but like I said it increases over time. I suspect I may have to discontinue permanently this time as I'd rather be managing acne but alive, than an acne free corpse (the migraines, irritability, etc are quite horrid). Since I've spent considerable time on and off this pill I don't think it's the best choice for me - clear skin notwithstanding.

Pros:

affordability

Cons:

very dry skin- face, hands, feet
still get cystic acne - more than 3 at a time
mood swings

I have acne vulgaris(cystic acne) that doctors say is caused by imbalanced hormones. I have tried everything on the market from Accutane(twice) to homeopathy and nothing has worked. Diane 35 does not seem to be working after a year of use. I am getting 3 or more cysts at a time and they are very sore. I have not noticed any weight gain but I sure do have very dry skin on my hands and face. I am thinking of quitting but am curious as to what will happen. I have so many scars and I hate how I look when I have these embarrassing cysts on my face. Have not noticed the breast increase either. Mood swings - yes. Depression - sometimes. Sex drive - some. Not sure where to go with this one.

still waiting for improvements
I'm just starting my 3rd month taking this pill, I can tell there are some improvement by now but nothing extraordinary. my skin is definitely a lot softer than how it used to be, but I'm still not totally acne-free. I'm very positive about Diane, so I'm still gonna take it for now, will update later!

Need reassurance please!!
Help me!!! I've suffered severe acne since I was 12, I'm now 36. This last few months its gone absolutely crazy. My Dr finally let me go on Estelle35. I'm only just finishing up my 1st strip(month) but it's gotten even worse!!. My acne was usually localised on my chin/mouth area. Now it's attacking around my nose, huge awful multipling cysts! I'm struggling to stay positive. Please how long until I see any results? Does it get worse before it gets better??

Ok I'm just starting my 2nd month, so we're roughly at the same point. I'm exactly the same 10x worse & new affected areas. I know :( its so awful & it's so depressing. I'm going to try push through though, maybe this is normal? Reading others comments they saw results at 3rd/4th month. We can try support each other through this terrible stage & keep each other updated on results? A understanding, sympathetic buddy might b helpful :)

Diane 35--Only works whilst you are on it.
I took Ginnete 35 , generic version for two years when i was 25 and my face went from sand paper to baby bum smooth. I also looked very feminine and had this glow happening. I was very pretty on the outside but on the inside i was not happy. The mood swings were not a joke, i could cry at absolutely anything and my libido was just not there.. my cervical mucous was so white and sticky the whole time i was on Diane so sex was very much not enjoyable and dry-ish for me..oh and my hair was not growing anymore. When the time came for me to try for a baby , i stopped Dianne and thats when all hell broke loose...i could not conceive for a good 1 year 2 months and the acne was coming back slowly but surely.. the once glowing skin was now very oily.. libido came back..hair grew back, my moods wings got better..in short i just got back to what i was..except that i could not conceive. . Then i went to the Derma who prescribed tetralysal. I used it for 4 months then had to stop because i started having severe stomach cramps.. when i went to get these checked.i was diagnosed with colitis and they also found out that I was two weeks pregnant. So i stopped taking Tetralysal...and miscarried the baby at 8 weeks. I then went to a fertility clinic and they prescribed Glucophage because they said i had developed PCOS and found 2cm fibroid which i never had before Dianne 35 because my mensus was very much on time and i would know when i was ovulating and when i was not. Anyway I stopped all acne treatments and concentrated on trying to get a baby. Though my acne had stabilized whilst on tetralysal, I could tell it was starting to get worse but the rate was very slow maybe because of the Glucophage. Within two months of glucophage, i fell pregnant...my acne got better as i remained on the glucophage. When i gave birth, it was hell on earth,.the acne just got bad..three times worse that it originally was. I went back to the derma and was put on Erymicin, Skinoren, Retin A and a cream for scars with 4% hydroquinone. Things improved drastically but my derma ackowledged me that it was temporary because once i stop all this, the acne will just come back again . so she offered to put me on accutane once i finshed breastfeeding. I breastfed for a yr and have started my accutane treatment and its only been three days without any problems. I will not be taking birth controls with this and my birth control method will be using abstinence and condoms. will write a review on the accutane once iv completed treatment

Worked but had terrible side effects

Pros:

Cleared my skin

Cons:

Terrible migraine attacks
Mood swings, became overly sensitive

I've had acne since I was 14, so I was desperate to try anything to get rid of it. Two years ago, I heard about how Diane 35 can solve acne problems so I tried it. I agree with what some people have said here -- it does work wonders. It cleared up my skin like no product has done before. However, I also had migraine attacks often, splitting headaches that wouldn't go away. I couldn't work, I couldn't concentrate. I've never had them before. I also noticed that I became edgy and sensitive. I would cry over the smallest things. Sometimes I felt sad for no reason. My boyfriend noticed it, too, and it often caused fights between us. After three months, I decided to stop using Diane 35 because I couldn't take the migraines anymore, I was so unproductive at work whenever I had them. After I went off the pill, I immediately noticed that I felt better. No headaches, no mood swings, my disposition became better overall. Unfortunately, I broke out again when I stopped, but I was willing to accept that. I wouldn't trade my sanity for clear skin. It's just not worth the risk. There are better treatments out there.

Pros:

Cleared skin (but only as long as you take it)

Cons:

Extreme mood swings
Fatigue
Nausea
Migraines
Total loss of libido
Increased appetite (gained at a rate of 1 lb per month for 24 months)
Bloating
Sharp pains in my calves
Depression
Inability to focus
Crying spells

This medication pretty much ruined my life for the past two years. When I stopped taking it all of the above symptoms really decreased. I didn't get my period for 6 months after I stopped taking it. When my body finally clued in and started producing hormones, it was predominantly male hormones. So I developed terrible acne 20x worse than I had ever had in my life. Not only that but I also began growing facial hair, ON MY CHEEKS. It was like a peach fuzzy all over my face that made it look dirty. To h*ll with this stuff. What a freaking nightmare. Before Diane-35 I was athletic, happy and pretty. After Diane-35 I had gained 25 lbs, was depressed, hated myself and was starting to look like my brother. If you're acne isn't severe, don't risk it. It fosters dependency on this medication. For anyone giving this drug a good review and hasn't tried to get off of it yet, I'm willing to bet that most of you will eventually change your tune.
