Pros:

Reliable birth control, increased bust size, no noticeable weight gain, no mood changes, no loss of sex drive

Cons:

Nausea, IBS/lactose intolerance, acne, increased urgency to urinate and urinary incontinence, increased rate of UTIs

I have tried several forms of birth control: Tri Cyclen Lo (gave me the worst acne ever), Desogen (perfect skin but insomnia), and Nuvaring (great for 2 years, then sudden acne). I took a year's break and then decided to try Yasmin. For the first 2 mos, I experienced some moderate acne. About 6 months in, I became lactose intolerant. I have eaten dairy products daily my entire life with no problem until Yasmin. I also started to get nausea every day, usu. in the morning. I have been sexually active for 6 yrs, and I had 1 UTI in the time before Yasmin, but in the 8 mos I've used this pill, I've probably had 10 UTIs. When I don't have one, going to bathroom is very urgent. My acne is back and worse than it was the first month of Yasmin, mostly on my forehead and chin/jawline. I have started to get chest pains, and I've decided it's no longer worth it to deal with the side effects. I'm going to try to switch to Dianette or maybe back to Desogen after finishing this pack.

Pros:

Typical birth control pros, Helpful for those with PCOS

Cons:

Acne has never been a problem for me, but after taking this pill, i have HORRIBLE acne! I couldn't believe it, I thought it would help my skin rather than hurt it.. I now have large hard pimples on my jaw line and chin!

I'm not certain if this will go away after a while. I have only taken it for a short time, so I am hoping things will change, but this acne has gotta go! - However thanks to great health care the price is cheap, and the active ingredients make this great for those with pcos.

Pros:

no weight gain (other than chest, thats not a bad thing for me...)
very cheap because i have a great medical plan
less red/oily skin.

Cons:

i have a large breakout at the moment, but i think this is because my skin has to get worse before it gets better! Im confident that it will get clear soon.
I had slight nausea for a few hours after taking it.

i trust the product, even though it hasnt quite worked as well as i'd like it to. (ive only been on it for 3 weeks though) but its made my skin less red/oily so thats a start.

Pros:

No weight gain, no bloating, effective birth control, clearer skin.

I was on diane 35 first when my doctor switched me to yasmin saying it would do about the same thing for my skin. In Canada yasmin is fairly cheap around $10-12 before your pharmacy fee, so the price is definatly right. After switching i noticed no major side effects and my acne didn't get worse as i was scared it would have. It's been about a year now that i have been taking yasmin, and with the recent scare over yasmins side effects it's important you don't smoke, you eat well and stay fit while on this pill. i would say my skin isn't 100% clear, i still get a little whitehead here and there but nothing really noticable(i used to have grade 4 acne), so i'm definatly happy with yasmin.

Pros:

No Migraines, No Weight Gain, No Mood Swings

Cons:

Dry and patchy skin, breakouts on chin & forehead

I've been on Yasmin for more than two years now - it's been quite a roller coaster ride... At first it was amazing. Skin cleared up, lost weight, loads of energy and no moods. Now, for the first time in two years, I've noticed pigmentation on my skin (like when I was pregnant). I'm also getting quite a bad skin breakout. The last time my skin looked this bad was when I hit puberty...Someone suggested that it might be the Yasmin causing it. I don't want to change my pill. I've been on two others and I was misserable, bloated, moody and had constant headaches.

Pros:

birth control, regulated periods

Cons:

acne breakouts, pill everyday, slight nausea after starting the first pill following the week of placebo pills

The first few weeks it made my acne break out really bad--the worst it has ever been. It mainly occurred along my jawline and chin, like most people who left a review. On my third month now, and my skin is better than the first few weeks, but still NOT clear. The acne takes forever to heal and lasts very long, leaving my skin sore and dry. Im hoping within the next few months my body will adjust and my face will clear! For any users what month did you see drastic improvement in your skin?

Pros:

None

Cons:

This pill broke my acne out even worse. I only had a few spots to start with but now my chin has completely erupted. I have been miserable for weeks now. It is definitley not the route the take for mild acne. I now have all the old acne-anxiety back.

I am miserable since i started Yasmin. I really wish I hadn't messed with my hormones. I am now weepy all the time and fragile. My skin is sore and raw. I have stopped taking yasmin now for the last 2 days. While i was on it my skin was so dry it felt like I had ezcema on my face. Really wouldn't recommend it at all.

Pros:

Better skin, statistically reliable birth control

Cons:

Fatigue, slight nausea

I just wanted to post here because I'm having a decent experience on yasmin, and I've noticed that a lot of the posts are extremely negative. Because it's a hormonal treatment everyone's response will be different. My skin was terrible before I went on yasmin, but literally by the second week I am seeing drastic results. The first couple days my skin did seem to get a little worse, but I figure it's because all that residual gunk had to come out some way. I'm really relieved and pleased with the progress I'm seeing. So for all you ladies who haven't seen results with any non-hormonal treatments, I'd give this a shot. I was a little tired the first few days but that seemed to pass. I also have experienced a loss of appetite. Overall the side effects I've experienced with this contraceptive are way more bearable than any other pill I've tried. Try it out. Don't be scared.
