Pros:

acne cleared up for first eight months

Cons:

after eight months, acne erupted like nothing I'd experienced before. They weren't just spots, but crators on my face. The didn't seem to have any pus present like normal spots, but were itchy and spread easily.

Dermatologist said they are plane warts, but upon looking up images on the net, they don't compare accurately, so gut instinct is that it was caused by dianette, and now I have to live with feeling unnatractive!! Thanks! This should be researched, and possible banned, as it can have a horrible effect physically, mentally and emotionally!!

Pros:

Spots are clearing up.

Cons:

Total loss of sex drive, thrush and sore breasts, they do not feel like like my breasts any more, unfortunately, I can't stand touching them or having them touched anymore.

I have always had really bad spots on my chin but they got 10 times worse and were starting to travel up my cheek when I went onto a pill called trinordiol. I went to the doc about my worsening skin and he changed me over to Dianette and got me an appointment for an ultrsound to test for polycystic ovary syndrome. I have just finished my first pack of pills and have not had a bleed yet. My sex drive is gone but yes my skin is clearing up already, i just have red marks now where the spots were. But i am vey depressed at the lack of my sex drive and worried about sore boobs not to mention the lack of a bleed yet and it is three days since I stopped my last pack which has me worried might be preggers.

Pros:

Beautiful, clear skin, lighter periods and never got period pains whereas i normally am in agony!

Cons:

May make you put on weight (my friend got kinda moody from it but she didnt gain any weight!)

I was on this pill for about a year and it was amazing my skin was flawless..perfect but i did put on about a stone NOT GOOD! When i came off it i lost the weight agen quickly and my skin stayed clear for about 6-12 months after but now its creeping back..not as bad as it used 2 be though (im 18 now) but i want my clear skin back again! Going to try some oral antibiotics as topical solutions dry out skin too much and arnt that effective!

Pros:

Clear Skin

Cons:

Weight gain
mood swings

I was in Dianette for 2 years and it really cleared up my skin BUT i put on loads of weight and was always depressed. I put on the weight cz i always felt hungry. I was always crying and getting angry bout silly things. Being on this pill is not supposed to be long term solution for acne and and the longer your on it the more risk you have so my doctor put on Yasmin which has so far been great. Ive already lost weight and feel better in myself also my skin is still fine. Although its quite a new pill its much safer than dianette.

Pros:

Cleared up spots

Cons:

None

I have been on Diane 35 for the last 10 years and 6 weeks ago finally took the decision to come off it thinking that my spots surely wouldn't return. Well the good news was that my period came only 2 weeks late but the bad news is that my forehead is covered in pimples. I can't believe how oily my face has become in such a short space of time and my hair too. My self-confidence has bombed. I'm only hoping now that they don't spread. I really don't fancy going back on the Dianette so I'm going to wait a couple more months to see if my skin sorts its self out (if I can hold out that long!) and maybe try out Yasmin if all else fails. Looking at my skin now, I can't believe how good Dianette actually was - I totally took it for granted my great skin. I'm now spending an extra 10 mins in the bathroom trying to cover myself up!

Pros:

Clearing up of acne

Cons:

Slightly more emotional

Since my last message, I have now been on Dianette for a full 4 months and am now seeing an improvement which is such a relief. I haven't really had too many side effects - just a bit more emotional that usual (I'll cry at anything!) a my breasts a slightly bigger. There's still a way to go, but I'm hoping that in another couple of months I'll be totally clear. Really looking forward to being able to go out without make up. I'm considering using a sun bed to clear up the red marks left by old spots, but maybe I should just stick it out as they do fade naturally. I will report back in a couple of months - hopefully with continued good news. I would recommend this pill to anyone considering it - as long as you're not prone to depression. I think it's worth a try and sticking with for at least 4-6 months... you have to give these things time to work. Good luck to everyone battling with acne!

i went on dianette when i was 18 as my skin had just exploded with acne and it worked amazingly but i came off it last feb as i thought it was to blame for my bad moods, which in retrospect was down to stress and other things going on in my life. when i came off it my skin was worse then ever and this has made me feel worse than any of the moods i ever had with dianette and nothing else that i have used in the mean time has been any use for me. at 21 i do not want to be putting up with acne and for this reason i am going back on dianette. i am at the stage that i do not want to go out in public because of my skin. i dianette is not working for you then dont stay on it as i know it does not agree with some people but i have found it to work for me. x

Pros:

Decrease in facial hair, clearing up of body acne

Cons:

Hasn't cleared up face acne after 10 months

I have taken this for 10 months. During the fist 6 my acne was far worse than ever, after that it just returned to the moderate ance is was before and remains at that. i.e. it hasn't worked. That was for my face. What is strange, though, is that the acne on my back and chest cleared up almost straight away. I have also increased 2 bra sizes on Dianette. I am going to stop it now because It has made me very depressed, so that I am finding it hard to work.

I'm into my 3rd month of using this, and my periods are far more regular than they were. I have mild scoliosis, and whereas my back pains got worse around my period, they're far better than before. My skin did get better during the first month, but now is worse than before i started taking the pill. I've also found that my breathing isn't quite right. I suffered from asthma badly as a young child, but have outgrown it to a certain extent. However I've needed to use my inhaler at least twice a day for the past few days, and during the first few days of going on Dianette. I'm definitely going back to my GP to change this, but i'm not sure whether to wait til i finish the packet. I'm only 15, and this is the first pill i've tried, so i'm not sure that the side-effects are bad enough to change to another, which could potentially be worse :S
