Pros:

BOTTOM LINE - DIANETTE IS QUICK FIX! WHEN YOU HAVE CLEAR SKIN WHILST TAKING THIS IT IS GREAT THEN AS i HAVE EXPERIENCED IT GOES DOWN HILL FROM THERE JUST DOESNT SEEM AS EFFECTIVE! i HAVE SO MANY WHITEHEADS ITS EMBRASSING!

Cons:

QUICK FIX PILL, MAKES YOU VERY DEPRESSED WHILST WITH CLEAR SKIN, BLOATED, NO SEX DRIVE.. SHALL I CARRY ON!!!

ITS JUST QUICK FIX RUBBISH, I HAD TO GO TO THE DOCTORS THIS MORNING ( 3RD TIME IN 2 MTHS) HE HAS GIVEN ME DIFFERIN, ANTI BIOTICS AND NOW BP. I WENT AGAIN THIS MORNING AND TOLD HIM THAT NOTHING IS HELPING NOT EVEN DIANETTE AND MY FACE IS JUST ONE GREASY MESS. HE SAID KEEP UP THE ANTI BIOTICS AND THE DIFFERIN AND TRY BP AND HE IS GOING TO REFER ME TO A DERM. I KNOW ACCUTANE IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL CURE THIS AND IM HOPING I GET IT AS IM JUST SICK AND TIRED. DONT FEEL DIANETTE IS HELPING ANYMORE JUST NOT AS EFFECTIVE AND GOOD AS IT ONCE USED TO BE!! MY ADVICE TRY THE ANTI BIOTIC LOTIONS AND BP IF THEY DONT WORK AS TO SEE A DERM AND MAKE SURE THEY DONT PRESCRIBD YOU THIS, YOU WILL END UP WITH PERSISTENT GREASY SKIN & ACNE ALL OVER AGAIN!

Pros:

Cleared up my acne well, has taken a few packs & I still get spots but a lot less then before hand

Cons:

Weight gain, bad mood & depression, also worried about when I come off it as to whether acne will return

Used in moderation I would recommend it, but not perhps for long term. I would however reccommend teaming it with Vitamin B5 & Zinc supplements (just tablts from Health shop), taking these in conjunction with the Dianette then move to a lower doseage pill such as Cileste but continue with the vitamins

Pros:

Not pregnant, cleared acne amazingly well, breasts grew

Cons:

diminished sex drive, weight gain

Amazing for acne, id tried absolutely everything before this and it totally cleared up. Only downside is my sex drive has just plummeted, and it takes a hell of a lot to get turned on. I've been off it for 3 months now and the acne is returning a little, so am going to try yasmin as an alternative.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Nausea, depressed, no motivation

I was put on dianette by my gyneocologist,i do suffer with spots, and have quite a bit of hair growth on my face, stomache. I have only been on it for 7 days, already I have experienced a whole 5 days of feeling sick, not being able to eat and even certain smells have made me want to be sick. I've felt depressed, had no motivation. Its been a horrible week. Already my family say i've become like a different person. I'm normally really happy and cheerful. I've decied to come off it today. I will go and see my gynecologist next month and see what he says, i know for sure i won't be going back on it.

Pros:

Clear skin

Cons:

weight gain, cellulite (i hope this is down to dianette) and mild depression

I was on microgynon for 3/4 years from 17 to 21 then went off and after around 3 months it had cleared my system and spots appeared, which i had never had a problem with before. I got acne on my forehead mainly. Went to my doctor about 6 months after being off microgynon, to go back on the pill. She offered one that would help my skin but i was only allowed to be on it for 6 months. I came off it last month and am now back on microgynon. I don't think dianette will fully leave my system for another 3-6 months but im getting mild depression from the changes in my body. I am unaware if this would of happened if i had stayed on or its because of the change. Each time i am not engaged in an activity i just feel numb and am at a total loss right now. Going to the docs tomorrow but as said previously GPs are not specialists, so who knows!

Pros:

Greatly reduced symptoms of PCOS, perfect skin and bigger breasts!

Cons:

Mood swings,Hair loss, no sex drive, acne returned worse than ever after a break from this pill

Diagnosed with PCOS in 2001and was perscribed Dianette by a gynocologist.Greatly reduced painful symptoms but experienced severe hair loss and lost all interest in sex. Took a break form it in September 2006 to see if my symptons had changed and was it worthwhile actually taking it. My symptons have greatly imptroved. my hair has stopped falling out and I have a lot more energy, but my skin is worse than ever before. I went to my doctor last week and he suggested Dianette again as the best option for acne, even though I suggested that I try other lighter dose pills or antibiotics. My sister is a nurse and read several articals about dainette in medical journals and is dead againt it. I am getting married in a few months and not really sure what to do now! I'd like my skin to improve without all the other side effects

Pros:

my skin cleared up, only a few odd spots but prior to it I hated my skin and was so depressed. I had tried everyting but dianette was the only thing that had any effect. I didn't experience any real weight gain and my boobs got binger & firmer!

Cons:

just the worry of there being downsides. I have been on&off dianette just out of worry that it will have bad effects in the future. I have been depressed but not sure if thats attributable to dianette.

I would recommend dianette if your skin is bad to the point that it effects your life. don't let your doctor just fob you off with prescribing it....especially if its a GP, try and see if you can speak to a dermatologist and explain your worries. I really had no problems, but its the possibility that there may be downsides that will rear their head in the future that i worry about. I no longer take it and my skin is pretty bad, but i am trying teh oral antibiotics route.it will have a different effect on everyone, if you are going to take it, do so with your eyes open knowing that people have experienced depression...and if that happens be aware that it is possibly only because of this pill... then see your doctor and think about coming off it.

Worst pill I have been on

Cons:

Increased oily skin
Severe headaches
Fatigue

Where do I start, have been on the contraceptive pill since April 2011, I went on the pill as my periods were awful, and I mean sometimes on going non stop on for a month, the doctor said it seems I have mild scale of pcos ( polycystic ovary syndrome ) he put me on a pill to help correct my periods and apparently the pill is good to go on If you have pcos . I started off on microgynon which I was on for 6 months, unfortunately it made me very moody, emotional etc, I then went on femodette which I have actually been ok on and have been taking up until two weeks ago, I spoke to a gynecoligyst who said I should in no way be on femodette as it is not good for pcos. ( I also explained to him how I always feel weak, lethargic, exhausted, tired, groggy and I can't lose weight, not over weight but would like to lose a few pounds) I've had various blood tests trying to find out why I always felt so weak, lethargic and groggy ( as in greasy, sluggish etc, and I eat very well & excercise so I didn't understand why I felt this way! ) blood tests showed no results as to why I felt weak 24/7! ( I'm only 18 ) so, the gynecoligyst told me to come off femodette and go on the evil dianette ( BIG MISTAKE ) I started dianette after my week break having my period, I started dianette on the 14th of August and I can honestly say its been the worst pill I have been on. I have felt 10000x worse than before!! emotional, 100x more greasy, 100x more weak than I was before, hugely bloated, so so exhausted, tired, lethargic, light headed, HUGELY Increased my appetite. It also interrupted with my sleeping! I couldn't even sleep at night,my body would never shut off properly and go in to full state of sleep no matter what. I felt miserable and It caused me to have severe headaches too. I heard pills high in oestrogen can cause fatigue ( tiredness etc ) which this pill has. So I call doctor friday 23rd because by then ive had enough of the way I feel, she says if I THINK its the dianette pill causing this,to just stop taking it until I see her next week, I was 50/50 on whether to stop taking it suddenly or wait until ive had the rest of the pack. I wasn't sure if to take the rest and see how I go. But I decided that friday morning to not take it. Friday evening I had an amazing sleep for the first time in ages! I slept all night long! next day ( saturday ) I had work all day which I dreaded as i thought I would feel weak and lethargic as always.. Well guess what, day two off the pill and I felt NORMAL all day! I could actually work! no weakness, no tiredness, no tears, no headaches, I felt good! Happier.I have put it all down to the pill, & dianette was 100x worse, So this pill certainly is NOT a pill I recommend at all! Maybe my body does not like the pill no matter what one it is, but dianette I can honestly say made all my problems 100x worse. I have heard this pill is one of the most high risk pills too. No no no!

Pros:

Bigger boobs, improved skin

Cons:

Takes ages to work

I've never had amazing skin, but at the age of 23 I developed full blown acne out of the blue. I tried several courses of antibitoics and creams such as benzyl peroxide but nothing worked. After much convincing, I managed to get my Doctor to put me on Diannete, even though I'm classified as obsese. I was so depressed about my skin I decided to accept the risks and go for it anyway. It's been three months now and I've noticed some change, although I'd still my acne is still quite bad. I've noticed that my skin goes through spells of being really clear and then really bad. I'm not sure if anyone else found this? Anyway, I'm going to stick with it as I don't want to go on Roacutane and hope that in time my skin improves. Fingers crossed!
