Pros:

Clears up skin dramatically, gets rid of scars and marks, skin looks brighter and clearer

Cons:

Can take some time to work, slight mood swings which can calm down slowly

Hi... I have been suffering from acne for quite a few years now. About 2 years ago I went on Dianette. Although I cant remember exactly how long it took to take effect, it worked wonders for me. I felt so much more confident and less self-conscious. I hardly suffered from side effects such as weight gain and mood swings calmed down after a while. A few months ago I stopped Dianette thinking there's no way the acne will come back. Within a month, I was breaking out badly again. After a month I went straight back on it. This is my 3rd month of taking it and I still dont see much improvement. Did anyone else stop Dianette? Did their acne come back? Does Dianette work again, if you come off it for a bit? And how long does it take roughy to take effect! Im on my 3rd month now and still see no signs of improvement! So frustrating! Thanks everyone! x

Cons:

it took a long time to work

i was on this for 6 months and didnt notice a major difference so i came off but decided to go back on a month later as my doc wasnt offering me anything better at that stage. 5/6 months down the line my skin has been seriously good for the last 2 weeks or so! *touch wood* i have literally tried everything tho! ive been going to my doc about it since i was about 15! now 19, if this doesnt maintain my skin then will try roaccutane next. hmmm.. will carry on takin for another 3 months to make sure my skin stays clear then def comin off for something more mild.

Pros:

Can clear up your skin very well. It depends on the person but for most of the girls, it works for their skin really well. Even for severe and moderate acne. It cleared up mine.

Cons:

I gained weight, increased appetite, increase of cellulite, mood swings,if you stop, your acne will probably come back..that happened to me.l.

In the first year of taking dianette, it didn't work at all for me.Then after a year suddenly my acne stopped coming back and the scars faded really fast. The 2nd year I gained weight, get cellulite, had a huge appetite and I was moody. I couldn't stand getting weight..Then after almost using dianette 2 years stopped taking it in the hope that my skin would stay clear..And it did!For 6 months..suddenly my acne sarted to come back and I freaked out! Luckily a very good friend of mine was on accutane and told me how well it worked for her acne. After a lot of blood sweat and tears and two months of waiting for Roa I finally have ALMOST a clear skin!I do have some redmarks but slowely they are fading.I am also using the Yasmin pill als it is SO much better for me than Dianette.

Pros:

Clear skin after a few months. Skin and hair alot less oily.

Cons:

Came off it after 8 years (one short break in that time), started to get spots again so went back on it. Then second time off- skin and hair very oily. Had a really bad breakout- very big angry red spots mainly on chin and sides of head.

It does clear your skin, but now I want to come off it again soon to have a baby. Worried about another breakout and if it will have an affect on my fertility ( due to reading other people's reviews about their fertility). However, I am going to come off it in a couple of months so will let you know how it goes.

Pros:

Has improved my skin slightly and made my hair and skin less greasy.

Cons:

I already have a size 'F' cup boobs and they now must be al least an 'H', too big for me!!! I have only been using it for 6 weeks and therefore have only had 1 period but it was really painful, they aren't usually.

Hmmm.....worrying about what will happen when I come off it. I'm really tempted to come off it the now so that the side effects of coming off it are mild...worrying that the effects may be really bad. I don't feel as if it's made that much of a difference to justify it's use...I would recommend Lymcycline which I also take in conjunction with this pill, have been taking that for about 8 months and that made a big difference to my skin initially, after a while my skin stopped improving but stayed at the same level, so I now have light acne, I would say, compared to quite severe before. I was prescribed Dianette to clear up my remaining acne, but I don't think it has helped that much. Still confused anyway...

Pros:

Completely cleared my acne in about 3 months. Skin is softer and body hair is fine and much slower to grow. Increase in bra size !

Cons:

Some weight gain, but nothing significant.

I've been reading the really mixed reviews on this site and am surprised to hear that some people have had a bad experience. Diannette is the only thing that has worked on my acne. I'm 38 and have been fighting with this since my teens. I've been on and off dianette for years. Stopped about 18 months ago as I was concerned about fertility issues, but within 3 months the acne was back in full force. I tried a number of alternatives, but last month I caved and started a new course of dianette. It's been 28 days, and already I can see it clearing up...and so far, no weight gain! It's the best solution as far as I'm concerned.

Pros:

Dianette cleared my skin up perfectly. I had moderate acne, particularly around my mouth and forehead, and its all gone now and I get comments about my lovely clear skin on a weekly basis - its truly been a "wonder drug" in my eyes. No side effects

Cons:

Took 3 months before noticable effects were seen, took 6 months to clear skin completely. Acne may return when I stop taking it. Went up 2 bra sizes (not necessarily a con!)

It has been great for me, however I realise it varies in different people. I have not had any mood swings or side effects other than my skin clearing up and my boobs getting bigger. I would (and do) recommend this to any woman who has tried topical treatments with no success.

Pros:

skin becomes clear.

Cons:

As soon as you come off the pill your bad skin comes back. I have gotten very bad cellulite and big appetite which leads to weight gain. the first time on dianette i wasdepressed.2nd time back on pill knowin consequences of depression-much better

If you are depressed with bad skin then its far better to take dianette and be depressed with good skin. cellulite on thighs has totally taken away any confidence i ever had. Maybe I was gona get that anyway, who knows?

Pros:

reduces acne, wouldnt say totally cleared up, but alot better, and is the only treatment thats made any difference for me having tried topical/creams and other contraceptive pills

Cons:

doesnt totally clear up, and as soon as you stop taking it the spots come back! docs dont like you on it for long due to incrd risk of dvt's.

as a temporary solution, or if u need a contraceptive pill anyways then this is the best for skin. however for a long term solution it would be better to see a dermatologist and get something like roaccutance which is more likely to clear up acne permenantly.
