Pros:

Works instantly!!!

Cons:

Stomach aches very annoying but not painful. Almost like hunger pains!!

The Tablet form, in prescription of Erythrocin is amazing!!! I have had acne since i was ten and it has ALWAYS had an affect pn me regarding socializing and going out etc.. I always felt that it was there and couldnt hide it!!! I have tried countless types of medication, creams, treatments and NONE have worked like this!!1 It is a miracle and i am being genuinely serious! I havent EVER seen tablets work so quick in my life.I took a trial of them for 4 days along with a retinol based topical cream and the difference in my skin was amazing!! One of my friends actually was shocked at the difference!! I am no starting a trial of them for a month and I cant wait to see the results... only problem is that once u go off them they tend to flare back up.. but that was my experience of taking them for a four day trial but they are anti biotics so they should keep clear for a good while!!! I know this whole thing sounds cheesy but it really is a miracle! NOTE:Price Below is in EURO!!!

Did not work - dangerous
I took oral antibiotics back in high school. I refer to them as a "bad joke." They did absolutely nothing for me. Plus, as more evidence comes out, we are vastly overusing antibiotics and creating resistant strains of bacteria. In my opinion, there is no place for antibiotics in acne treatment. Benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria much more quickly and thoroughly, actually does clear the skin, and does not come with the side effects.

Limited effect

Pros:

Very little effect

Cons:

Skin still oily
Limited effect
Time waste

I have been taking the pills for 3 ½ months, first month 250 mg a day and afterwards 2 x 250 mg a day.. I think it helped a bit, but just a VERY little bit - no big difference. I have wasted a lot of time using this product, unfortunately, and finally I have got accutane prescribed. I wish the best for everyone who is using Erythromycin.

Pros:

none that I saw

Cons:

didn't work
couldn't apply under make up
rubbed off easily
VERY flaky

Tried it for a few months, did absolutely nothing. I didn't see an improvement nor did my acne get worse. I only applied at night and by the morning i would see a ton of flakes on my skin of where it had rubbed off during the night from tossing and turning. Luckily my insurance had covered the entire thing so I didn't waste any money on it.

Pros:

- Works pretty quickly- saw some results after just 3 or 4 days
- Hasnt caused major dryness- slightly dry lips but dealt with using vasoline
- More success than other antibiotics that ive used

Cons:

- Doesnt help with red marks (but do any meds help with this?)
- Can give me an upset stomach every couple of days and very slight diarrhoea but nothing major
- Must be taken with food or almost guaranteed to feel sick afterwards

Im happy with this. Oxytetracycline did nothing for me a few years ago. Lymecycline worked for about 6 months then overnight just stopped working. But ive been on Erythromycin for about a month now (including a 10 day break) and my moderate acne has cleared up nicely. Not perfect but no major breakouts and just the odd whitehead here and there. Far less inflamed too. As I said in the cons it has given me a slightly upset stomach every now and then and very light diarrhoea but its not a problem as its only once or twice a week for an evening or something. So yeah overall I recommend it for those with mild-moderate acne.

Pros:

When used with Differin, it cleared my face completely

Cons:

After 1-2 years of continuous use, my acne developed a resistance to this product, and I had to switch to a different medication.

I used Erythromycin gel by applying a thin film on my problem areas in the morning, and at night I would apply a thin film of Differin gel. It took about 3 weeks to see results, but eventually all my acne went away. I was clear for a period of 1-2 years, but then my face started building a resistance to the medication, and the acne came back. I find that with these prescription medications, they will work for about 1-2 years and then they stop working, so I have to switch from one to the other. All these dermatologist prescribed medications do work, but they do not cure acne. They just temporarily mask it. You have to use them on a consistent basis every day, or your acne will come back. Right now, I have stopped taking all these and I am trying natural methods such as taking probiotics and fiber supplements to see if I can get to the root of the problem.

Pros:

It works! After just 2.5 wks my acne (of 4 years) is starting to clear :)

Significantly fewer breakouts

Cons:

mild stomach discomfort (who cares? my skins clearing!!!)

YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE...DON'T QUIT AFTER 2 WEEKS..BE PATIENT! Apparently quitting is the number 1 reason oral antibiotics don't work...you won't see results straight away

WORST ANTIBIOTIC
I never write reviews and have gone out of my way on a dying laptop to let you know how bad my experience on erythromycin tablets has been ... and its only the SECOND DAY. took it at 9pm last night.. then from 1am (and now its 1pm) I have had cramps and been vomiting and my cramps are still occurring. its worse than period pain. didnt think i'd be so affected by this but I will not be taking this again because i cant bear this pain 12 hours and still counting. going to call my doctor on monday. BTW lymecycline didnt have any side efffects for me but just stopped working after 6 months to clear acne.
