Pros:

Washes away dirt, oil, and whiteheads!!
Clears Acne!
Reduces surface oils
Reduces Redness
Relaxes complexion

Cons:

Can be a bit drying. But My skin is so oily it will only last for about 30 minutes or so.

Ive tried endless products including proactiv, acnefree. These high end systems work for a while but if you miss one treatment you break out again. Not so with neutrogena oil free acne wash it is very forgiving. But for the maximum results I suggest using it every morning and every night. If used in this manner your skin will be clear in two weeks!!! (depending on the severity of your acne) remember to pat dry after washing product off of your face. If you tend to have dry skin after using i recommend using the clean and clear moisturizers with acne medicine in it. I am a consumer like you, and from my past experiences this is the product to reach for.

disappointed
This product is awful. It doesn't make my skin feeling clean, nor does it do anything to prevent acne. It caused me more bumps then I had in the first place. I'm very disappointed

Pros:

Well it left my face feeling light, clean and soft which i guess has helped my acne.

Cons:

My acne has NOT improved very greatly, i dont think it will COMPLETLY clear up my skin but i think it will help, it is sometimes quite irritating and drying so i recomend a good mosturizer. Also i substituted this product in for the regimen and then i used 5% benzoyl peroxide after and since the cleanser is oil free and it kinda stripps my skin of oil and the benzoyl peroxide is so drying my skin was SO sensitive to the sun and my Skin was SO Dry even with moisturizer!

I have had acne for about 2-3 years and i have tried EVERYTHING and my skin will ocasionly clear up leaving me with just scars and blackheads and little bumps. What i did not know was that the bumps were pimples waiting to erupt and then i had big breakouts. Well i first started using it about a year ago and it just didnt work so i got some other stuff which REALLY worked and i saw an amazing improvement, and then it just stopped working. I decided to go back with Neutrogena and now my skin feels great!

Pros:

gentle
cheap
works fairly well

Cons:

doesn't completely clear acne, but I've never expected a cleanser alone to do so anyway

This is one of the few acne products that I like. I use this and then a sal acid astringent followed by a moisturizer.

Pros:

Rids face of excess oil
Lathers well
Face feels nice and clean, no residue

Cons:

Too fragrant

If you don't have oily skin, DO NOT use it. Common sense people. I keep seeing all of these bad reviews regarding people's face getting too dry. I have truly oily skin and this product only dried my face around my mucous areas for a few days then my skin was back to normal. This is what I needed. DO NOT give bad reviews if the product was not meant for you in the first place, please consider this when writing the review. Some people think they have oily skin only to find out its not that severe. My skin is oily 2-3 hours after washing and applying my moisturizing. I inherited this from my mom. The wash does keep my skin clear, but I do not have a lot of acne either. I am not sure if this will help with severe cases. This product is good for really really oily skin, those will light/mild breakouts and those who just want a simple product in between other products. If you are like me, I change products every couple of months. When I wash my face with this, I feel like I have washed off the day better than I have with any other wash (especially for the price).

Pros:

Dries up places with acne, but leaves other places fairly ok. Lathers nicely. Helps get rid of stubborn little bumps. Helps control acne somewhat after it is washed off.

Cons:

Can be drying for people who have dry or combination/dry skin. Hard to wash off.

Mosturizer is a really important thing, btw. It will help your skin to not think it's being strip and make even more of it's own oil. I would totally recommend this to someone like me, who has a really, really, really, oily tzone (forehead, nose, chin). It has reduced the size of the pores on my nose and FINALLY cleared up a really stubborn breakout of little skin colored bumps on my chin in a matter of days! I think the reason it will tighten you skin a lot after using it is because there is still some residue left from it, because it is a little hard to wash off. You should follow with a toner or astringent and then a good mosturizer!

Pros:

removes oil, dries out pimples, leaves skin feeling fresh and clean

Cons:

smell, dries out skin a little to much, pricey

I love this product! the only thing is you have to consistantly use it day and night. And you definitely need to use moisturizer after, esp in the winter! but it seriously clears skin!

It takes time and the right skin type
This dosage of salicylic acid is potent-which means it works on acne and it dries your skin. I think I have now tried every single acne cleanser on the market, which eventually made me so fed up and broken out that I began cleansing only with honey and moisturizing with straight aloe. However, I still had acne. I used this product all through my teens and never had acne. I stopped using it because I got bored I guess or got older and wanted something more sophisticated for my skin. As described above, it has been a nightmare, and I recently came back to this. This cleanser is for people with very oily skin and acne prone even sans all the chemicals people put on their face that cause acne. I do not put a single thing on my face, not even moisturizer apart from a little pure glycerin, and I still have acne, and coupled with the excessive oiliness I would say that I am truly acne-prone. I did not realize this since all through my teens I used this product with BP, just in case since acne in my family is genetic. People who use heavily-marketed makeup and pore-clogging moisturizers (even if they are made to treat acne or are "oil free") and for this reason alone break out, but otherwise have normal or dry skin should NOT use salicylic acid in any form. I would first test your skin- do not wear makeup or use any skin products whatsoever for one week. If your skin clears up- you are not acne prone and harsh acne products are not for you. If you do not start to clear up or it gets worse (and not in a purging sort of way) then you are like me and your skin requires something extra. This works, you will just need to follow it with a drop or two of glycerin mixed with a couple drops of water (pat this onto your skin while it is still damp from the wash). Glycerin is a pure and a completely acne-friendly moisturizing agent so long as it is mixed with a little water. If you need something extra, use a little pure tea tree with water and spritz on face. It is the chemicals and moisturizing ingredients that cause acne in most people, refrain from these and you will notice a difference, no matter what your skin type. This cleanser is completely free of pore-clogging chemicals, and although you can find other salicylic cleansers that are organic, they will likely clog your pores and I know because I have tried them all, whereas this one does not. If you have oily, acne prone skin this is the right cleanser for you.

Pros:

Smells nice
Easy to lather
Wont kill when used with other products

Cons:

Slightly drying
Somewhat quick to run out

It does what its supposed to, it's a wash. Used in conjunction with other products, it really helped. Alone... dont put all your confidence into it alone.
