just started
so I just started so I don't know yet. I really don't know if this is the best for me yet. I have damaged skin from harsh chemicals in products. so I stopped and my parents told me to just do this. I'm nervous because I have a forehead full of tiny bumps and dead skin from drying it out. and cheeks of acne scars. I hope this will help me. my face isn't red anymore at least. and my spots are turning into dead skin.

How did it go???

Just started this method, and asking for help!
Hi, I'm a 35 year old female and never thought I would be struggling with acne... I get the a few pimples every now and then. Nothing too serious, but enough to bug me. My main problem has always been blackheads in the chin area and some in the cheeks (still pimples without heads)... So, I see this and it makes sense, since I'm doing the "No Poo" on my hair as well.... getting everything back to it's normal PH levels. This is my 4th day or so, but I don't know the directions.... or what to expect. Is there a name for this way of cleansing? I absolutely have to wear sunscreen. I live in Florida. Please Advise:)

How did I not know about this sooner???
After getting off Accutane last year and still breaking out, I was done. I was so frustrated - Accutane had been the cure for both of my brothers!! I finally decided to tackle my diet and cut out dairy/gluten/alcohol/caffeine/sugar and slowly introduce them back in to see what made me breakout. The problem is, my acne never really cleared up, so how was I supposed to tell if any of the foods were making me breakout? I was searching this website for an answer, for a cure!! I finally stumbled upon the phrase "caveman regimen" and people saying it actually cured them, along with eating better. I thought maybe this could be it. Maybe this could be the cure!! My regimen is no water, no products, no makeup (except eye makeup) and no touching - and it's working!! In the first two weeks, it COMPLETELY cleared up my cysts. I started getting some whiteheads (which is not normal for me, I normally get cysts only), but they would shrink and push out the pus very quickly and totally on its own - WAY faster than when I had used BP or any other product! My pores are shrinking, my hyperpigmentation is fading and my skin is becoming less oily. The first two weeks I had to blot it everyday but now I don't even have to do that. I did put a little bit of jojoba oil around my nose but then I had some whiteheads so I'll stop that. Also because it cleared up ALL of my cysts, I was able to start introducing inflammatory foods back into my diet with very obvious results!! I KNOW now that dairy definitely causes cysts for me and gluten has no effect on my skin at all. Neither does alcohol. Sugar is the only other thing that I'm still testing out in varying amounts to see how much my skin can handle without breaking out. I do eventually want to add foundation back into my routine because I miss the way it makes me look, but I definitely don't want to do it at the expense of my new clear skin! I'm thinking I'll wait even more until my skin is super balanced and healthy and then play around with the idea. (I've completed three weeks with this regimen and this is my experience. I think I might wait until after three months to start introducing foundation.) NOTE: I do want to say that I think the reason this worked so well for me was before I quit all products, I slowly weaned myself off. I had been using an all natural cleanser and only used BP as a spot treatment instead of all over my face. I also had just finished a parasite cleanse where I was eating super healthy. If you are using a ton of chemicals on your face and eating really processed, sugary foods, quitting cold turkey is NOT a good idea! Your body needs time to adjust. Yes this is a long term solution and takes months to really get it right but it is SOOOOO worth it!

You havent tried everything
I use to get cystic acne on my face and came across salicylic acid sulfur soap on ebay and it works like a charm. Trust me it works wonders and I have clean pores and an even smooth skin tone and very soft skin.

After 4 weeks, clear
After 4 weeks, I did not seem to have any active pimples. I eventually reincorporated SPF and a cleanser (albolene) into my routine because I began exercising outdoors.

Okay, so sunscreen was one of my main concern... I really want to follow through with this regimen but I worry about the long run of not using sunscreen. But since the point is to not wash your face, I didn't want to use sunscreen because then I'll HAVE to wash my face because it' gross.

Pros:

easy
cheap
natural

Cons:

didn't cleanse well enough for me
didn't get rid of oil
my skin broke out

I tried the water only method a few months ago when my acne was quite severe, and I can't say it did anything positive for me...of course, I didn't try it for very long, so maybe people who experiment with it for a couple of months would have better results, but so far the only thing that seems to clear my skin consistently is velocity and epiduo...I wish the more natural methods would work for me, but so far they haven't.

Pros:

natural
effective
inexpensive

Cons:

does not work for makeup

It's winter in Ulaanbaatar, with awful pollution and -20 celsius temperatures. I've been wearing makeup since summer, and acne issues hasn't stopped for me. I tried washing with soap as well as cleaning with a creme when the weather became colder - neither worked. The oily cleanser helped the dryness a bit, but acne (pustules) continued to appear. Then I stopped using all products, excluding a very thin layer of Pond's creme on my cheeckbones and top half of my forehead (where the skin is dry). It's been a week, and I can tell that I have no new pimples, and the existing ones are healing fine. Also, it's helpful to learn how to pop pimples properly - using a sterilized needle and alcohol wipes. I'm now looking forward to wearing makeup on my smooth skin for the holiday parties! Until then, no makeups! Is it better to have perfect skin and never wear make up, or occasionally mess up your skin by wearing makeup, and hence having to wash with harmful products?

Works for me!

Instead of just splashing water on my face, I wet a paper towel and very gently wipe my face with it. This way I'm exfoliating and cleansing at the same time. I've been doing this for 3 weeks and can't believe how clear my face is. This is the longest I've gone without acne in 15 years! Yes it was that bad! I'm also in the process of getting my digestive health in better shape because I'm almost 99% positive that it is the cause of my acne to begin with. Anyway, if you decide to try the water only method remember that you will still need to exfoliate somehow. Otherwise, those dead skin cells will pile up and clog pores causing even more acne than you had before.

Was great while it lasted

I had a period of acne in high school where I had acne because of the fried junk I ate daily but it went away after I fixed my diet, put my bangs away from my forehead and did chemical peels + just said screw it and stuck with water regimen. However, as I transitioned into college, I started eating all those junk food again like pizza and added on with the stress of being a college freshman, all that acne came back to haunt me with a vengeance. My face was literally a grave because I bought into the garbage acne companies throw at you like Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid and etc. It ended up as red as tomato from the burns (I think it caused the PIE/PIH I still have till this day 2 years later) along with the breakouts you get after you go cold turkey on BP. I was researching acne topics and stumbled upon the water regimen and it just hit a light bulb in me to try it again since it worked the first time. At first, the water regimen seemed alright in the first 2 weeks as it brightened the acne scars. There were dead skin problems so I used wet microfiber towels to gently remove them. However, I read up on how the real challenge was the 3rd week (and unfortunately I should've stopped during this week). My face exploded in acne and it just continued after the 3rd week (my family kept commenting throughout these weeks of how did my skin get so bad all of a sudden). I've decided to stop now after a month because my skin type is probably not the same as it was back then and I've been getting an increase in cysts which I don't usually get. This regimen is definitely not for everyone but it was fun while it lasted because I only had to do the bare minimum + I'm on summer vacation so it was more like an experiment. In addition, I wanted to say to proceed into this regimen at your own risk because I think it gave me seb. derm.

Tried Everything, This seems like it may work

I got a hydrating facial 4 days ago and I was going to do the no wash caveman to rebuild skin barrier, but I went out with the lotions and stuff on my face from the facial and it started to draw too much attention by day 2. So I decided to do the water only method. I got out the shower and rinsed with Luke warm water until my face felt rubbery so I knew I was getting everything off. It still feels really slick 3 days later but probably becuase the facial lady used so much lotion! So I just finished my 4th wash (I wash morning and night 10-12 hours apart after I shower) and it seems the lotion is almost surfaced and off my face. Skin is still shiny on forehead but not on cheeks anymore. It looks good. I think by day 4 my skin will be balanced again and I can keep on washing morning and night 10-12 hours apart.

I lied. This is a 4 day update from when I initially posted this review. I don't think washing with water rebuilds the barrier when you compare it to leaving it untouched without water (or even steam from the shower). Starting today I will leave it untouched including water or steam.
