Johnson's : Neosporin + Pain Relief

This ointment is amazing at healing acne, but DO NOT use this as an acne treatment. Let me tell you why. If you use this ointment frequently or over large areas of the body (i.e. all over your face), it messes with your skin's natural bacteria communities (notice the warnings on the tube). It can also cause bacterial resistance in the "bad" bacteria on your face. The reason why this ointment works is not due to the fact that it is an antibiotic or a pain reliever. The secret is in the inactive ingredient: white petrolatum. This is basically a form of petroleum jelly (a.k.a Vaseline). Its emollient properties form a barrier to protect skin and keep it moisturized, which is why it helps your acne heal much faster than normal. A lot of people also claim that it helps prevent and reduce scarring. When I was growing up, I always thought petroleum jelly would clog up all the pores on my face, so I never even gave it a chance. However, white petrolatum has been thoroughly researched and proven to be non-comedogenic. Feel free to look at the reviews for Vaseline on this website. If you are interested in buying Vaseline or another brand of petroleum jelly, make sure to check the ingredients for white petrolatum. My recommendation for use is to use this at night before bed. I LOVE this ! Last night there was this zit that wasn't super nessescary to pop but i couldn't help it and i totally regretted it after. I do the acne.org regimen so after I finished the regimen I decided to dab a little neosporin on it. When I woke up the bastard had COMPLETLEY deflated it was still there a little like the red but it was in my problem area and the whole entire problem area is a much lighter red! I'm very happy with the results I recommend this if you popped a zit and need relief.

This stuff is amazing! ive tried to get rid of my acne for a year. My acne was predominantly on my cheeks. I think the reason why it worked so well in my case is because i am a picker. We all know that picking gives you scars and spreads bacteria. So i learnt the appropriate way to pick a pimple (sterilised needle etc) and when i was done i'd put a thin layer of neosporin over the top. I've used this for one month at night and now i rarely get breakouts. Any i do get (probably because of makeup) heal quickly with no scarring. If you couple neosporin with the correct exfoliating/cleansing techniques you will be targeting two of the causes of acne (bacteria and clogged pores) I cleanse with a gentle cleanser. Exfoliate every 2-3 days with St Ives apricot scrub using the olay cleansing system (cheapy version of clarasonic) and i eat well and have cut out dairy and sugar. I'm now going to be doing a series of chemical peels to clear up any left over scars and PIH. Neosporin heals soo quickly and I'm a poor healer! This is a Godsend!

i use it in a different way than most people. ive tried using it on a popped pimple but it doesnt seem to affect it at all. but thats expected cause i have stubborn acne. when i pop and pick at a pimple too much and then it becomes a scab, i put the neosporn on the scab and it will make the spot into a dif, healed kind of scab that you can just peel off. its weird but it works and thats how i use it!

This is the best treatment I know for popped pimples and the resulting scabs. I don't use it regularly as prevention but it's great for treatment of existing wounds. I know it's much better to leave them alone but sometimes I just can't and when I'm left with a scab, this is what I use to heal it. My skin is very prone to scarring and this seems to help prevents scars as much as possible. I keep applying it 3+ times a day, including with a band-aid for overnight, until 2-3 days after the redness/infected look has gone, then I switch to vitamin E oil to heal the scab.

i was reading threw here and it seemed alot of people had good thing to say about using this. so I desided i try it since i have the worst time with over the counter thing working. I would use it every night before i'd go to bed on zit that i hadnt popped yet and it really didnt seem to do anyhting for them lest not that i could tell. so i gave up with that and popped them and started using them on zit that i had pop. I'm a bad picker so the faster i could get them to heal the better. and it did a really good job it keep be from picking at them as much and it help heal them faster. i would deff try this if ur a picker.

This is a great tool in fighting acne. I spot treat with this. If i have a pimple I use a blob of this on the pimple with the BP. It reduces and disinfects it. If you have severe acne (I've never had) I would imagine it would help dry it out as well and disinfect it. FYI if you want to save money go to CVS or whatever buy the generic one, it should be bigger and it's the exact same thing. I use the ointment not the cream one. The ointment seems to last longer. I use it before bed not during the day.
