Pros:

very hydrating
very healing
skin feels significantly stronger and more supple
calms skin treated with harsh ingredients (benzoyl peroxide, retin-a, etc.)

Cons:

pore clogging:
blackheads, whiteheads
oily t-zone

I purchased this product over a month and a half ago, but I only recently realized the negative effects on my skin. First off, I had begun using topical tretinoin cream a few months ago and was looking for a moisturizer that could help replenish my peeling and sensitive skin. I had looked into this for a while and so I finally purchased it. First reactions: I loved it. It did feel slightly heavy at first but my skin was quite dehydrated at the time so I didn't mind. But after the first night I did realize the oiliness in my t-zone, which isn't usually that bad. Regardless though I used it on and off for a couple weeks, trying to find the best routine for myself, without noticing any problems other than oily/greasiness in my t-zone. Bad news: Recently, about 3-4(?) weeks ago, I noticed excessive clogged pores (small white heads) primarily all over my mouth area, slightly on my forehead and in my jaw area. I kept using it though, thinking maybe I was doing something wrong, but it only led to my skin breaking out pretty badly for the first time in quite a while since tretinoin had/has been working for me so well. I will now only use this on my body or on my face if i absolutely HAVE to. Sucks because it was so calming and healing to my sensitive skin. I remember after a single night, the redness caused from tretinoin was almost completely reduced and peeling/dryness was practically gone after a couple nights. My skin looked so supple and hydrated, but then it began to clog my pores so... Conclusion: I would still recommend to this to most people to at least try. It's a fantastic, basic moisturizer that works great. But despite it being 'non-comedo.', it seems to cause breakouts for some people. Give it a shot though. note: I am currently using Alba's aloe, green tea oil free moisturizer, and it's working great so far. No clogs, no oily t-zone, despite it apparently containing comedo. ingredients. Funny how life works...

Pros:

Moisturizes very well, and leaves even very dry skin quite soft. Is fragrance free, affordable, and the packaging isn't all that bad. You quite quite a bit in a $14 (plus tax) bottle, so it's worth your money. Solid product.

Cons:

BROKE ME OUT. Terribly. I was actually very surprised, because people have been raving about it being noncomedogenic. It's given me cysts on my chin and ruined weeks of acne-fighting progress.

Not everyone will react perfectly to Cerave - either that, or I'm a freak. I expected this to become my holy grail moisturizer - applied it before going to bed and woke up with my skin feeling softer and glowing. About four hours later I noticed new acne had cropped up, and the next had a full breakout all over my cheeks and on my chin. I have small papules/whiteheads, and worst of all, cysts (about 1cm wide) all over my chin. I'd been making good progress with my current regimen (glycerin soap + MaMa lotion), and had finally been getting my moderate acne under control. My left side was actually completely clear, apart from some red marks, but now it's covered in new pimples. My right (worst) side looks even worse, and my chin looks like a minefield. I am pretty upset about this, and exchanged Cerave today for some Complex 15. Overall, I do think it's a good moisturizer, and am pissed at my skin for not taking to it. You'll love it if it doesn't break you out.

Pros:

Lightweight
No scent

Cons:

Pricey
Waxy feel
Not great with acne.org regimen

I would recommend this for those who don't use the acne.org regimen. I used CeraVe for about a year, on my dermatologist's recommendation and liked it. It's lightweight and works really well under makeup. It never left me oily, which I really liked. I've found that it is not super compatible with the acne.org regimen. When I apply it over the BP, the CeraVe tends to ball up and doesn't really absorb. However, if I apply it to other areas that don't have a layer of BP, it's a great moisturizer. I especially like it here in Florida, where it can get really hot and muggy outside. It's a nice lightweight formula that is comfortable to wear, even on humid days.

Doesn't Do a Whole Lot

Pros:

Drys fast

Cons:

Too many ingredients
Too light

Cerave all and all makes a very light moisturizer, but a bit too light for my dry Colorado skin. I'm sure this product may work for someone with better skin moisture, but putting that many ingredients on my face isn't worth how little it actually does for me.

Pros:

Absorbs quickly.
Non-greasy.
Makes my skin look nice (excluding the flakes).
Doesn't burn my skin (with using BP).

Cons:

Doesn't keep my skin moisturized.

I was excited to try this, based on the description of the lotion and based on other reviews. I have really dry skin and this sounded like it might help out a lot. I've been searching for a good moisturizer because most of the ones that I have tried haven't worked. The first day that I used it, I thought it was very nice and was working well. But the following days, my skin got dried out again and it's just not getting better with this lotion. I tried adding jojoba oil to it, which usually helps out a lot when I add it to moisturizers, but my skin is still staying dry. I tried using more if it, but that didn't help either. It's just not working on my skin. Other than the fact that it's not keeping my skin moisturized, I really do like it. It absorbs quickly and isn't greasy. It does seem to make my skin look nicer, if you ignore the flakes. There are a lot of positive reviews of this lotion, so it might work very well for you. It just doesn't do what it's supposed to do for me.

Not identical to the Cerave PM facial moisturizer
Just an FYI- i see a ton of ppl saying this is identical to the Cerave PM facial moisturizer-- it is not. The facial moisturizer has Niacinamide in the main first ingredients, which is an extremely beneficial vitamin for skin. I know a lot of folks like using this, but I recommend using moisturizers made specifically for the face--- on the face. This does not say its a facial moisturizer anywhere on the bottle, and i think Cerave created ones for the face for that specific reason. Just because ingredients listed are close and the same, doesnt mean its identical and formulated for the face vs. the body. Also want to add, over the ten years Ive used DKR's BP etc... ive learned that just bc a product has a highly listed and ranked comedogenic ingredient doesnt necessarily mean you'll have a bad experience or that you shouldnt try it. It may give you no issues-- everyones skin is different. One of the daily moisturizers Id been using for years had Isopropyl Isostearate as the main ingredient which is one of the highest comedogenic ingredients-- never gave me issues. I had no idea until I looked on here but had used it for years- no issues. So dont be afraid to try things to see if they may work for you. Just some thougts!

Pros:

moisturizes well
soaks in
easy to apply

Cons:

burns when using certain acne meds

ok so i have used this product on both realms of skin. i used it before acne meds and during . before it was a wonderful moisturizer. you only needed a little and it went a long way , it was light, and felt good on my skin. during acne meds the burning was so absolutely incredible that as soon as i applied the lotion i burst out screaming and in tears. mind you i have a very high pain tolerance. i however have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. so this is a product that demonstrates perfectly that all products are different for everyone
