Pros:

Made my skin less prone to flaking
Skin felt good - not dry or oily
Great pre-makeup layer

Cons:

Made my breakouts worse!

I had been using Dan's Regimen and all of the acne.org products, and I have to say that they have really made my acne much better. However, the flaking had never really stopped, and I tried all of the suggestions I could find on the forum here. So my mom had Cerave lotion at her house and on a whim I tried it. Oh, wow! Velvety is the most appropriate word you can use after you apply this stuff. Not greasy at all. It was like baby bottom skin on my face. That's nice, when you're almost 30. :) I went home and bought some and noticed within a few days that my chin started breaking out in those big, ouchy, under the skin zits. I thought, "Oh, my skin needs time to adjust," and so kept using it. It didn't stop. And then I started getting these weird zits along my jaw line and neck, which I had NEVER had before. I gave it months to make sure that if they were kinks, they could be worked out, but after this last round of jawline zits, I said enough. I ordered Dan's latest moisturizer to see if it was improved. Time shall tell. I am very sad Cerave didn't work for me. If I don't like Dan's lotion, I may try the Cerave cream in hopes that it won't do what the lotion did.

Pros:

Non-oily
Doesn't cause me to break out
Great w/prescription Retin-A

Cons:

None

Great product. Forget fancy high-priced products, this stuff works well. I use Retin-A Micro for acne and my skin tends to get pretty dry. I use two pumps of the retin-a with about 3x more lotion, mix together in my hands and then apply to my face. I have had very limited drying and no acne. Love this stuff!

Pros:

It works

Cons:

None

For years, every winter my husband has suffered with dry skin and the sores from scratching. Our daughter works at a dermatology clinic and brought him home a sample of the cream. It has been the only product among many that has stopped the discomfort. Thank you CeraVe !!!

Good for a little bit..
I've been on Dan's regimen for awhile now. I have hormonal breakouts once a month, or more if I've strayed from the regimen. I liked the moisturizer from the regimen, despite complaints I see others have. It's light, makes my skin feel soft, and of course, no breakouts. But after 7+ months of following the regimen, I was still peeling like crazy, even after I used less BP. I switched to the CeraVe lotion in hope that it'd help, which it totally did. The dryness and flaking stopped immediately. But yes, there was a catch. After 2-3 weeks of use I broke out horribly. And I did notice a waxy layer on my skin that caused some irritation. I would gently scrape the side of my cheek, and this weird waxy substance appeared under my fingernail. I understand this probably helps with hydration, but it suffocates my skin. I'm sure this lotion works well for others, but not for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. I reordered Dan's lotion which I'll use during the daytime, then probably switch to a Cetaphil lotion for night.

And as a side note, Dan reviewed this lotion and mentioned that some ingredients in the CeraVe lotion can clog pores, if that helps your decision!

Best all around moisturizer I've used.

Pros:

Non greasy
Doesn't cause breakouts

Cons:

Very greasy
Causes breakouts
I'm kidding, no real cons

I've been using this moisturizer for a few weeks now and it hasn't caused me to break out any more than normal which is pretty much the most important thing for me when starting a new product. It doesn't leave a greasy feeling after application like Cetaphil did for me (I have oily skin) and it hydrates well enough. I will definitely continue to use this for all my dry skin needs.

Pros:

Moisturizes my skin well
Doesn't make me break out
Doesn't irritate my skin
Doesn't make my skin look oily

Cons:

Pricey

This is the only moisturizer I've ever used, I was debating on whether to get this or the cetaphil moisturizer, but since I've heard better things about this one I decided to get it. It's about 3 dollars more than the cetaphil moisturizer I think, but it moisturizes my skin very well, doesn't make my skin look oily, and it doesn't break me out.

Pros:

Took away all my flakiness.

Cons:

Leaves my face somewhat greasy.

I started using the regimen and was having incredibly dry, flaky skin. My old moisturizer wasn't cutting it. I tried a few others and they didnt work either. After using CeraVe for 1 day 95% of my flakiness was gone!.. It was like night and day. It has been about 2 weeks now and I am flake free most of the day, aside from when I eat sometimes I will get flaky around my mouth. I was very nervous to switch to a new moisturizer because I do have a tendancy to break out in small white heads on my chin area, but thus far I have been okay. The only real con is that it does tend to make my face very oily and greasy. I bought oil blotting tissues to use though so we'll see how they help!

Pros:

Lightweight
No scent

Cons:

Pricey
Waxy feel
Not great with acne.org regimen

I would recommend this for those who don't use the acne.org regimen. I used CeraVe for about a year, on my dermatologist's recommendation and liked it. It's lightweight and works really well under makeup. It never left me oily, which I really liked. I've found that it is not super compatible with the acne.org regimen. When I apply it over the BP, the CeraVe tends to ball up and doesn't really absorb. However, if I apply it to other areas that don't have a layer of BP, it's a great moisturizer. I especially like it here in Florida, where it can get really hot and muggy outside. It's a nice lightweight formula that is comfortable to wear, even on humid days.
