45 year Purpose bar soap user
Glad to read so many positive reviews about this soap and how it has helped so many people. I’ve been using Purpose bar soap for 45 years. It was recommended by my Dermatologist when I was 12. By not picking or squeezing and allowing the acne medications prescribed to dry and heal my active areas, along with using Purpose which cleaned my skin very well helped to reduce bacteria, oily skin and acne by age 15. I always found this soap to be expensive but worth including in my budget. It’s the only soap I use on my entire body due to the squeaky clean properties and my preference for a fragrance free soap. I’ve turned a few female friends on who use it to remove makeup and found it very effective for light make up removal but not sure how effective it is for those who use heavy makeup. Maybe women on this forum can share their experience using purpose to remove makeup. Anyway, if you are using this product, I believe you’ve made a great choice. May not work for all but I believe it would likely work for most. I was afraid to use lotion on my face but my Dermatologist recommended Lubriderm and back then I would wet my face and apply a small amount then pat dry. Left my face feeling free and not like it would crack if I smiled. Today the formula is more water based so I don’t need to do that anymore. Anyway, with all being said, there is no doubt I’m a fan and at 57 I shall continue to be a Purpose soap user until the day I die.

Pros:

this product is AMAZING!!! i was skeptical at first because nothing else had ever worked, in fact many other products made my skin worse! But Purpose is different, i noticed healthier skin and less or the RED irritated look in just a couple of hours!

Cons:

that i didn't find this product sooner!

if you have blemishes,or even really bad skin like i did, give Purpose a try, it does not over dry your skin like a lot of other products and it is well worth the cost, what do you have to lose besides your pimples? You wont be sorry!!

Pros:

Helped Control Acne

Cons:

Can be drying

My acne improved greatly when I first started the regimen, but wasn't where I wanted it to be; then I read a review on here recommending this soap. Well now it's the only cleanser I use. My skin is the clearest it has been in years. Yea it's a little drying, most are; but I just adjust my lotion and it evens out. For clear skin it's worth it!

Pros:

Non-irritating, little to no fragrance, cheap and effective.

Cons:

Not for those with dry skin.

After a rather disastrous stint with some of the liquid Cetaphil cleansers that are raved about by Paula Begoun my skin has finally started to return to normal after using Purpose. The Cetaphil for normal to oily has a fragrance in it that was giving me low-grade Rosacea, constant redness, little watery pustules, etc. The regular Cetaphil is so emollient that it is virtuallly worthless for those of us with oily skin. This product IS a little drying so unless you are younger with super oily skin you can probably get by with using it once a day and water the other times. Also, only leave it on your face briefly and rinse off with cool water. The only other products that compare arer Cetaphil Bar Cleanser (for those with drier skin) or Aveenobar Cleanser.

Pros:

Affordable, works great, does not smell like alot of cleansing bars, doesnt leave a film on my face and my face actually feels clean and doesnt feel oily 5 minutes after I wash, the bar is huge and it's affordable (BONUS)

Cons:

none I have seen so far

The funny thing is that a friend of mine gave me a trial size bar of this soap months ago and I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. I had been using the Proactive cleanser which by the way is a waste of money. It works great for a minute but then its like my acne became immune to it and it wasnt long before I felt like I was throwing money(lots of it) out the window. Anyways after reading the reviews on Purpose bar soap, I dug it out of the drawer and started using it. It's been a week now. I really like it but I have extremely oily skin. I went and bought the huge bar and was amazed at how inexpensive it was. I highly recommend it to anyone with oily skin. By the way, I threw the Proactive away with the exception of the BP lotion. When thats gone, I will buy something at the drug store.
