Would not recommend

I'm not a fan of physical exfoliants but I do sparingly use this on my body. I would never use it on my face as the beads are shockingly small and harsh, leaving your moisture barrier damaged over time and worsening acne. It contains harsh alcohols, fragrances [redacted]

It's a shame that it smells so nice. Please look into less harsh physical scrubs or even a chemical exfoliant like an AHA or BHA.

edit: between then and now I have used the salicylic acid one on my face - have not seen a big deal

Didn't work for me
This scrub broke me out and irritated my skin, but it is affordable and effective for some people

dont do it if you have sensitive skin
i have super sensitive skin that breaks out easily so this was a huge no no no for me. this product has hard grains of sand that are really harsh on the skin. wouldnt recommend if your skin is sensitive.

not so good
This product is too abrasive for me. I use it on my body and find that the exfoliating beads are too large in size. They are effective but also irritating and too harsh

I Expected Better..
This is a classic product that has been around for decades. I had always seen this scrub at my local drug store and finally decided to purchase it after being recommended by numerous beauty blogs. I think this product is waaay hyped up and overrated. Let me tell you , I had high hopes for this product. I really wanted it to work for my skin. Everything from the cheap cost , to the amazing scent and gritty texture screamed that it would leave my skin feeling smooth and clean. However , this was not the case for me. I have normal/blemish-prone skin and this product was terrible! It always left a weird residue on my face and caused me to break out into mild acne on the cheek area. Although it claims to be oil-free and leave your skin feeling clean , I had always felt the opposite. The film it left behind felt both greasy and dry at the same time.... if that's possible. I think this product may be suitable for some skin types , but definitely not mine, my skin is usually way better off with gel and liquid based cleansers.

Doesn't treat severe acne
St.Ives has nice face scrubs/washes, but they do not treat severe acne. I'd probably recommend them for someone looking for a nice face scrub or to treat mild acne. The smell is nice, but after a couple of weeks the smell gets quite sickening, almost as if it's turning stale. I found this happening after the tubes were left opened for a few hours. I used one of each of the St.Ives face washes; deep cleanse, medium and light cleansers and none of them lessened my acne.

Good exfoliating product..but sometimes a little too rough.

Pros:

Exfoliates
Cheap

Cons:

Irritating

I would recommend this if you have really resistant skin.. but the product contains little jagged pieces of apricot pit.. which tares micro holes in the skin. It does exfoliate.. but not in the most productive way possible.

Pros:

-exfoliates well

Cons:

-made acne worse
-worsened redness

I used this stuff some when I was about 13 and I didn't have any problems with it. It was a nice addition to my daily regimen. As I moved through different products trying to cure my acne, I dropped it. When I was 17, my acne went from somewhere between light and moderate to moderately severe and it spread from my T-zone to all over my face. Nothing's worked since. My first year at college, however, I went back to this stuff to cut costs (I think it may have been a generic brand though) and my acne got at least 40% worse on it. I don't know why it was fine at 13 and terrible at 18, but do be careful with this stuff. Other factors that might be relevant: I had just stopped using ProActiv because of the obscene cost, and I used this product every day. Perhaps a less frequent use would've given better results, but I'm not going to take the chance.

Pros:

-Smelled Good
-exfoliated good
-took away oil

Cons:

Made my acne more red that it was and did not help me at all!

I have had acne for 2 years now. It first started as only like 2 but it got worse and now i have it one my forehead and chin. This acne wash did not help at all and was not very promising from the start. It made my pimples more red and irritated. I would not recommend this.

Pros:

-really good smell :)

Cons:

-granules too harsh
-didn't help with my acne
-left a slight film on skin
-didn't clean my skin enough

This product didn't really break me out, but it certainly didn't help with my acne/blackheads as it claimed either.. :( If it had foamed up a little it may have been a bit more effective. I think this product would be better for someone with very light acne and skin that isn't sensitive and is normal-dry-combination. This scrub would probably be too harsh for moderate-severe acne. For me though..it was a miss.
