I took fish oil pills for about a year. It worked at first for my eczema rash on my face and acne. I just took it on a daily basis, and it just seemed like I never took it. I stopped taking it 2 days ago and my acne cleared up so fast I couldn't believe it. I really don't know about fish oil or how I feel about it now. I guess try something else.

Pros:

Clears up acne
Makes my skin soft and glowy

Cons:

None that makes it not worth taking
Slight fishy taste if you buy cheep pills, but taking them with food will help with that

I definitly recommend them! It took about a week for them to start working, I've been takin them for about three weeks now and my face is completly clear. I still have to use acne cleansers and spot treatment, but if I don't skip any pills and continue taking good care of my skin. It's almost perfect! (: I use Spring Valley regular strength btw, and I take four a day.

Pros:

Soft hair
Soft/glowing skin
Less acne
Feel healthier

Cons:

They are large to swallow
Have to remember to take them everyday
Cost $

Make sure you buy tablets with a higher dosage, otherwise you will have to take 6+ to see results. I have taken two a day for the past six weeks and my hair is amazingly smooth and shiny. My skin has cleared A LOT (although not perfect). I used to suffer from severe cystic acne and this has worked well for me in combination of other vitamins (magnesium and a multi) and drinking a tonne of water!

Pros:

It smoothed my skin dramatically! My skin is much plumper (all over my body) and dewy.
Bought from Holland and Barrett on a deal with starflower oil - double whammy! (About £20 for both)

Cons:

It hasn't cleared up my acne (because the cause is hormonal) but it has reallt helped scars and redness has almost vanished.

Definitely worth a try as it nourishes your whole body causing your skin to be beautiful from within!

Pros:

good for cardiovascular health

Cons:

might be bad for acne in men, at least at doses of epa of 1000mg (1g) or higher daily

1g of epa/200 mg dha seemed to make acne worse. found this study showing why high doses of epa (one of the two main fatty acids comprising omega 3 fish oil) may actually exacerbate acne in men. basically, epa lowers platelet aggregation (makes blood less sticky) which is a good thing for avoiding heart attacks, but RAISES testosterone levels as it does so (that's what is meant by the last line about an inverse relationship between testosterone & platelet aggregation. Pros:

Helps Cardiovascular Health
Helps Memory
Helps Complexion
Helps Mood

Cons:

None for me so far

Ok, so I have moderate-moderately severe acne and not a very good complexion. I actually didn't start taking fish oil for anything like that, I just started taking it as a supplement myself since I figured it couldn't hurt and i was already taking a cleanse so it couldn't hurt. The kind I've been taking doesn't make you burp so you don't have to worry about the taste or random gross burps. Its been around a week maybe, and I noticed my complexion looking quite nice the last couple days and the one day I skipped taking it my complexion went back to looking not so great. Also, along with that I seem to be in a better mood and just feel better. So while it hasn't cleared my acne its made my skin overall better so I suggest just trying it.

Pros:

Many other health benefits! (Heart, eye, metabolism, and even shiny hair!)

Cons:

If not properly made, can become rancid, negatively affecting health.

I'm rating this based on what I've heard, not my own experience because I have only been taking these for a week. The reason why I'm posting, is to let readers know that I read some interesting things on several web pages on Fish Oil. I read that if not capsuled with an antioxidant, such as Vitamin E, the pills can become rancid, and in a shorter period of time than you might think! They should at the very least be made with d-alpha Tocopherol which although less effective (and less expensive) should prevent the pills from becoming rancid. I suggest spending a bit more in order to ensure protection from rancid oil. Just a warning, because it sounds fishy lol. Just be sure they are also purified, and contain deep sea fish, or have the fish specified. Also, Fish oil just makes sense to me because products that reduce inflammation in the skin are generally good for acne. Many acne sufferers are prescribed anit-biotics, which work to reduce inflammation, so this makes sense. I paid ten dollars on GNC softcaps 300mg per capsule.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin, easy to take, good for the body

Cons:

big pills?

I have used all the doctor prescriptions for acne over the years.. just to name a few: minomycin, differin gel, antibiotics, etc! None of them worked in the long run.. they made my skin very sensitive to the sunlight! But the fish oil.. wow.. did wonders for my skin! Cleared up my skin .. I would say in 1 month? Pretty happy with the results! Should give it a try! Great stuff :)

Pros:

Reduces redness and inflammation. Evens skin tone and makes it soft.

Cons:

None.

All I can say is WOW. I have taken Carlson's Lab Very Finest Fish Oil for a month and my skin has improved significantly. I started taking 1 teaspoon every other day for seven days and slowly increased to two teaspoons a day (breakfast and dinner time). I didn't want to shock my system or whatver. Anyway, I totally suggest adding an oil-free moisturizer 20-30 minutes after BP, keep hydrated with water, and take fish oil! It truly works :)
