Pros:

I think there are a lot of long term benefits and it seemed that the fish oil helped with mood.

Cons:

Every time I go through a fish oil phase, I seem to get blind pimples. My skin is usually prone to small hormonal flare ups, but these are bad. Maybe I take too much - around 6 per day to help with depression - but then I stop and my skin clears.

I think fish oil is great if you don't have this problem, I noticed someone else said the same thing (anonymous in australia mentioned deep cystic acne which is the same i think)- it would be great to hear if anyone else has had similar experience, as my naturapath fried says it is not possible for fish oil to cause acne, so I keep trying. I think it is the fish oil though.

Pros:

Cleared 99% of acne, reduces any red marks, no more oily skin!

Cons:

Fishy burps but i can get over that

This is what has been missing for me and the answer to my acne equation. There is a bunch of "scientific" crap around nowadays and i have tried a few things but the best things for acne are to keep the body detoxed and take FISH OIL!!! Dont put harsh chemicals on or in your body. Fish oil cleared what i would call my hormonal acne. Give it a try for a month and see what happens if you dont believe me.

Pros:

Definitely reduces inflammation, relatively cheap and side-effect free compared to similarly effective treatments.

Cons:

Can cause a little indigestion.

I have used this for a couple of weeks now and have noticed a definite reduction in the inflammation of my acne and new breakouts. No miracle cure as of yet, but definite improvement! I take about 1g of omega-3 which, compared to many people on this board, is not a lot! I will definitely up the omega-3 to at least 3g as recommended and report on any increase in benefits!

Pros:

Works better than anything else I've tried and is really good for you.

Cons:

Kind of expensive but worth it.

I on here earlier about how well fish oil was working for me: no more zits, pores literally oozing- I could pull the sebum out with tweezers (gross but awesome). I was really happy but just felt my sking could still look a little better so I tried the double strength fish oil and my skin is even better. These have twice the EPA and DHA as others. Again, my pores emptied even more. They are hardly visible now. My bio teacher told me that omega-3s are anti-inflammatory so maybe that has something to with it. I highly recommend this.

Pros:

Cleared my existing acne within the first week. Made my skin less oily and much softer. Good for memory and concentration. Overall a good supplement to take.

Cons:

Fish burps, but what's that compared to the agony of acne.

I have tried a lot of different things, and this is the only thing that has lasting results (if taken daily). I was taking fish oil religiously for a while and saw amazing results. I wasn't sure if it was the fish oil, my face wash, or my multi-vitamin, so I stopped taking the fish oil for a week just as a test and things got bad fast. I started taking the fish oil again and within a week I was almost 100% clear again. I suggest taking 2,000mg in the morning and another 2,000mg at night along with a gentle face wash and a muli-vitamin supplement.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin faster than anything else I've ever tried and its good for your whole body. And its cheap!

Cons:

Its kind of a big pill to swallow, but it is a gel cap and shaped to go down smoothly. (which it does)

I'm a 24 soon to be 25 year old female and I've been struggling with severe ance for 10-15 years. I have been on everything! Any cream you can think of, antibiotics, birth control, everything except accutane and nothing has helped clear up my acne completely and worked as quickly as fish oil. I only take one a day (1000mg) and I've been taking it for about a week. I've only had one new pimple, which was very small, and my acne that was there faded more and more everyday. I still wash my face every morning and night and apply a benzoil peroxide and I could not be happier! I would recommend this to everyone. Its also cheap, I bought a bottle of 100 for $5-$6.

Pros:

So easy to take, doesn't upset my stomach even without eating... so easy that I often take six pills a day. My skin improved... fast.

Cons:

Sometimes I burp with a fishy aftertaste.

I saw an improvement in less than a week... I have been taking them religiously with one zinc pill per day and following the regimen... under two weeks and I have no acne... have even felt comfortable not wearing make-up in front of family at least, just have to get rid of spots leftover from acne. But even with marks my skin has a healthy look to it... You really have nothing to lose, they're cheap and good for you...

Pros:

Works wonders. It had indirectly helped heal my acne.

Cons:

None for me. Though its likely that there will be a little excess gas being made, when you first start taking the supplements.

Its GLA (gamma linoleic acid), an Omega-6 fatty acid, that is really helpful for acne. Look for a product high in GLA. Borage Oil is high in GLA.

Pros:

Very Beneficial

Cons:

Not noticably great for acne

I've been taking this for so long that I am not sure if it has any effect on acne. But, what I do know s that Omega-3 is one of the most beneficial nutrients out there. It has been linked to preventing cholesterol problems, heart disease, arthritis, Alzhimers, depression, and even violent tendancies in one study. The US Institute of health has evidence for over 30 benefits of fish oil, and more are being discovered every day. So, you should take it.
