Pros:

Helps with acne due to hormones

Cons:

Expensive

Someone recommeded this to me and said that it would help to get rid of acne due to hormones and stress. After a month of using it, I saw a difference, it definitely helps, and it's a natural plant product, so it doesn't mess your hormones up. Just a good supplement. It is expensive, but worth the price. The dosage is high, so remembering to take 6-8 capsules a day is tough. It does work better if you take the full dosage though, and if you pay the higher price for the better quality product. I also found a product at a health food store that was a sort of chocolate raspberry syrup with the oil in it to mix into foods, another good option! Also, i'm guessing that this product would be far less effective for males than for females.

Pros:

Natural

Cons:

Remembering to take it

I take 3 x 1000mg per day. Acne flared up terrible after I came off the pill and I didn't want to go back on the pill as that was just messing with my hormones so I was always going to be faced with acne when I came off the pill again. My mum has been telling me to take EPO since I was about 13 (am 26 now) so finally thought I would give it try. And am glad to say it works, I took it and also used Quinoderm cream on my skin and within a week my skin was back to how it was when I was on the pill. The only con is remembering to take it - but that's just because I'm forgetful. I would definitely recommend this.

Pros:

Has really helped my cysts.

Cons:

Hasn't helped blackheads.

I take about 3000 mg/day of cold-pressed and hexane-free EPO. One month I tried the cheaper Trader Joe's brand, which is not cold-pressed, and the cystic acne came back. Anyway, it's not a cure-all, but if you think your acne is related to hormones, it's worth a try. I still occasionally get a cyst, but they're smaller and less painful.

Pros:

Made my skin:
Smoother
Radiant
Soft
Got rid of my hormonal acne

Cons:

Nothing yet.

Before prior to using this product I had on going pimples appearing all around my chin, jaw and upper lip. The pain was excruciating and Benzol Peroxide couldn't control the break outs. This was an on going problem for 8 years, sometimes when I go on a juice detox or increase raw food in my diet it helps eliminate the pimples from growing for awhile. But it always comes back once I stop my routine. My lifestyle made it really hard for me to keep up with the diet regime. So I started looking for alternative supplements. And I'm so happy that I tried primrose oil, now i can indulge in junk food every now and then without having to worry that my chin would explode. Bare in mind I am not encouraging people to eat junk food, everything comes in moderation :) Spoiling yourself once every 2 weeks is reasonable.

Pros:

helped with my small bumps on my forehead, helped with dry skin

Cons:

none so far

I read somewhere that you need to take about 2-3 a day. The small bottle wasn't THAT cheap, so I only took 1 a day. The results are there and visible, it's not a miracle, I still have blackheads, some pimples and huge pores, but the small bumps (that are not actually pimples) are gone. My forehead looks better now :)

Pros:

Reduces Inflammation
May clear scarring
Soft, glowing skin
Easy to take

Cons:

None so far

I've only been taking this for a couple of days, but after the first time I used it I woke up and my skin seemed to be glowing, soft, and it reduced the size and inflammation of any present blemishes. It's very easy to take and is worth the price. Other people say this helps with hormone related acne, but even if yours is not hormone related, then it could still help, especially with inflammation. In my opinion, this definitely tops using fish or flaxseed oil. I took a 500mg dosage in combination with an Aloe Vera Herbal Supplement, Acidophilus (Probiotic - aids in digestion to remove toxins in the body), and One A Day Multivitamin to give my body all of the key nutrients that it needs incase I did not get enough that day. Aloe Vera is commonly known for its healing properties, so it's worth trying. Acidophilus aids in digestion, which results in removing toxins and waste from the body. Toxins and waste are a definite source of inflammation and break outs. I take these all in a row at night time within an hour before going to bed. Taking them at night is definitely helpful in making sure your body is healing and clean after everything you did or ate that day. Also make sure to drink a lot of water. This is an often suggested tip, but it's a key part of flushing out all of the waste in your body and staying hydrated. I rated this a 4/5 as of right now because I'm reviewing this after my first use, so I'm hoping for the best.

Pros:

Softens Skin
Reduces redness and irritation
Reduces appearance of old acne marks

Cons:

If used topically, can be a little messy, easiest to wear at night before bed

I didn't notice so much of a change in my skin when taken orally, (probably because I was being impatient) but got curious and popped open a gel capsule and rubbed a small amount on a pimple that was starting to heal. The next morning, the redness and size of the pimple had dramatically gone down, so the next evening I applied it all over my face only to wake up to a more even toned and softer face! A few old acne marks on my face are fading nicely, I am pleasantly surprised at how well this works topically!

Pros:

Skin isn't dry anymore.
Helps reduce acne.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

I have been taking this for over a year. 1000mg or more a day, depending on how bad my skin was. After about a month and a half I noticed that my complexion had improved greatly. My break-outs were happening less often and my skin was healing. I was taking various other supplements and doing things for my skin so I can't give Primrose Oil 100% of the praise- but I can tell that it definitely made a difference. As with ANY supplement, you have to take it for more than a month to see a benefit. Otherwise, you're not giving it a chance to get into your system.

Pros:

Reduced redness, less oily after 2 days

Cons:

None yet

Only taken it for 5 days now and my skin has never looked so good. I still have blackheads, but they are very light and little now! Every morning I wake up expecting to see a new cyst but I haven't yet. I take 1300mg twice a day and wash with theraneem or dr. Bronners soap and use a green tea toner by 100% pure. Try it. You have nothing to lose. I also make sure to take my epo with efas.
