Pros:

affordable, easy to use. A little goes a long way.

Cons:

I have found none

I am almost 47 years old and have been using this product for approx. 14 years. I use it twice a day after washing my face and neck. In the morning I only rinse off my face, no soap and apply AHA. In the evening I remove any makeup with ponds wipes, use a little soap and apply AHA. My skin is even, and soft to the touch. I know it's what's kept my skin clear and younger looking.

Pros:

My skin looks and feels great, and this stuff is easy to use and moisturizing.

Cons:

Hard to find.

I've had only one new pimple in the last two months (after years of bad skin), and my red marks are clearing up nicely. I used to think I had oily skin and needed to use harsh products and wash a lot...then I just got fed up, and started using nothing but this product...I noticed a difference after two days and I haven't broken out since I started using it. If BP seems to be making your skin worse, try this instead...you may be aggrevating your acne like I was.

Pros:

Inexpensive compared to other glycolic acid products.

Improves skin texture and evens out tone. In my experience, it almost 'flattens' my skin, so that any budding acne zits are not raised bumps, but just tiny pink marks. Much less painful and conspicuous.

Helps to fade red marks.

Helps to get rid of acne.

Anti-aging (apparently).

Very moisturising.

Cons:

Can take a while for your skin to build up a tolerance, just like with BP. For some people, it can sting a little and cause redness, but keep at it!

Don't get in eyes.

Can increase skin's sensitivity to sun, so you still need a sunscreen during the day after using AHA at night.

I wrote a review of this around 6 months ago, in which I said that I wouldn't recommend loading this on like a moisturiser. Now that I've used it for this amount of time, my skin has become tolerant to it and I do indeed apply a generous amount. I still think it's better viewed as a 'treatment' - I wouldn't recommend getting it very close to eyes or on lips, and it's a good idea to wash your hands afterwards. No longer makes me go red, and I now use it every night!

Pros:

clears clogged pores, way less drying/peeling vs. salicylic acid, helps preserve acid mantle of skin

Cons:

can be a little drying in sensitive areas of the face (near mouth. Use more sparingly, less frequently here.

My skin just feels better when I use this! I am not clear yet, but this is really helping. My primary problem is clogged pores, so applying this on my face FIRST, prior to spot treating with BP, seems to work better than doing BP first. I also apply sunscreen/moisturizer afterwards. I have also used Lac-Hydrin 5, and that is milder AHA than this, but the lotion is also heavier which I don't like as much but it can be helpful when you want a little extra moisturizing. This product works much much better than salicylic acid for me because it is less drying. When I used salicylic, my face peeled a lot and spots took a loooong time to fade. I also want to try Alpha Hydrox's lightening lotion, which contains both AHA and hydroquinone to fade brown spots.

Pros:

Cheap considering a little goes a long way.

Cons:

Can be difficult to find in stores.

This product has worked really well. I've tried literally every over the counter and prescription acne medication (and spent thousands of dollars over the years) and this is the only one that has helped clear up my acne without severe side effects. Now only does it help existing pimples (white heads, blackheads, papules, pustules and the occasional cyst) it helps exfoliate without any flakiness or redness. There was a little redness in the beginning, but not as bad as what other people experienced. I still have scars from past breakouts and they are fading very slowly so this isn't a miracle product. However, I highly recommend it because I saw noticeable improvement without any of the really negative side effects that you get from Retin-A or benzoyl peroxide. I prefer OTC products because even with good health insurance, going to the doctor constantly is expensive. In addition to this lotion, I also use a Sodium Sulfacetamide face wash twice a day and Benzaclin in the morning.

Pros:

Very affordable. Easy to find in its red packaging. Easy to use and last a very long time.

Cons:

I also used to be able to get it at Wal-mart and they no longer carry it. We do not have a Walgreens so I may have to get it at [link removed], but it's worth it.

Try it - but you need to try it longer than just a couple of days. It takes several weeks to turn your skin around to newer & younger looking. I am 51 and a grandmother of 5. I have used AHA for about 12-15 (I've lost track) years and people can not believe my age or that I am a grandma!

Pros:

It does help renew and smooth out skin, and get rid of blackheads. Pores are smaller. Red marks go away faster.

Cons:

The slight stinging. Hard to find-- it was really fashionable for a while, but fell out of favor for some reason. (Annoying: more stuff to put on your face!)

You need to use this stuff for longer than a few days to see a difference! Don't discount the stuff until you have tried it for a while. I also had some flare-ups at first, but it did help my skin look a lot smoother. It did not make all of my acne go away.

Liquid gold
This is my first review ever, so you can imagine what this is doing to my skin. A little background: I'm 22, never suffered with acne in my teenage years just a pimple here and there.. Never a huge deal until almost 4 years ago I started to get more pimples than the normal 1 or 2 every month.. I also got acne on my back and chest which went away after using some neutrogena products.. But that didn't happen with the acne on my face. I have to say that my acne it's not the worst case at all but it's being very frustrating.. A lot of comedones, cystic pimples that really hurt, but well.. I did pick on my pimples and skin and that of course gets things worse.. Mainly I had pimples on my chin and jaw area (hormonal) I literally tried every product, vitamins and supplements, no carbs or sugars, no dairy.. Honestly everything and nothing worked Well.. Almost a week ago I started using this lotion along with their foaming face wash and honestly this is the BEST product I have ever used.. No one active breakout right now just some scaring and I'm so happy about this!! If you are struggling with acne give this a shot because it's working wonders for me!! This is awesome

Pros:

it's a great deal for what it is.

Cons:

need to avoid putting it on existing acne as it will irritate it

for the last year, I've been using this on my chest and it works great. I wash my chest in the shower with selsun blue classic or non conditioning head and shoulders then apply this after drying my chest each night. It takes several weeks to work initially. stings a tad the first week or so. I have significantly less acne now, maybe 70% less. for the last 30% reduction of acne I take ice showers now everyday in the last month, everyday. it's a shock each day, but i love the discipline and peace afterward that it cultivates. bottom line: it noticeably helps, and does so in the long term
