Cons:
VERY comedogenic on face
I started using coconut oil on my hair and body with great results and researched using it on my face. I saw mixed reviews, but decided to try it out anyway. I really want to get away from the BP. Huge mistake! My skin looked great for the first few days. Then, I began to have several new breakouts, but attributed it to "purging" and stuck with it for another 2 weeks. I had to stop and return to using the Regimen to get rid of all the new acne. I had very mild, barely noticeable acne to begin with. Coconut oil is great for the body, though. Leaves your skin incredibly silky. I also take 3 TBS a day.

Pros:
Moisturizing, natural
Cons:
Stays kinda greasy for a while... maybe a few hours.
I wash with all natural soap, apply raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar with a cotton ball, wait for it to dry and then use my finger tips to rub about 1/3 of a teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil all over my face at night. I kind of pat off the excess but leave my face a little shiny. It soaks in by morning. IT'S ACTUALLY WORKING!!! YAY!!! I seriously wish I could post pictures on here. It's amazing. I'm SOOOOOOO excited!!! All the normal stuff for acne makes your skin burn and itch and way too flaky for makeup to cover anything, not to mention the idea of all that junk soaking into your skin and polluting your body. But this is natural, simple, smells great, and is giving me GREAT SKIN!!! SWEET!

good but not great
I use it to remove make up and it works great. I do not recommend leaving this on your skin as It is a very heavy oil and will clog your pores without a doubt. It will make your skin break out but Hair is a different story. This is lovely as a hair mask. It is great for dry scalps.

Pros:
Inexpensive, effective, natural
Cons:
Smell
Before now I didn't have any issues with acne. I suffer from PCOS and was on birth control for many years which helped me have great skin. However, in the past year I've had to come off the pill and that's when my acne began. It got really really bad; both my cheeks and the skin around my mouth were covered with whiteheads, which would subside to dark red pimples. I tried a lot of things to get the acne and the scars under control, but nothing seemed to work. In my desperations though, I was buying very expensive products that were setting me back $60+ each. However, one day I was reading the ingredients and saw a lot of chemicals. I decided to look into essential oils. After doing some research, I decided to make my own facial cream. Because I wanted to use essential oils, I needed a carrier oil and chose coconut oil In the end, my facial cream turned out to be more of a facial serum, which was fine. I started using my serum and after two and a half weeks I can say that it's working. I no longer experience any major breakouts and the scars on my face are much less noticeable. I've gotten two zits since starting applying the serum to my face, both very small. I just wanted to share my experience because in doing my research I noticed a lot of ppl advising against using oils on the face. But in my experience, this serum has worked wonders. Granted, it was not just coconut oil, but I do attribute a lot of the benefits to the product. (This amt of serum is going to last me maybe two months, since I only apply a few drops to my face) 1.1 oz coconut oil, liquid or solid.
2 teaspoons jojoba oil
11 drops lavender essential oil
6-7 drops tea tree ess. oil
3 drops German chamomile ess oil
3 capsules of vit E 400 IU each. (With scissors cut tip of capsule and squeeze product out) I mixed the ingredients together and put the mixture in a dark glass container, keep it at room temperature and dip my finger in to g

Pros:
soothing
nice smell
a little goes a long way
Cons:
can be awkward to use as the oil hardens at temps less than 76 degrees
I, like many, was skeptical about using oil on my acne-prone face. I stopped using NuvaRing (birth control) in Jan. 2012 for personal reasons. I'm 28 y.o. My skin was great while on birth control and then a month after I stopped, it broke out terribly. I developed large very painful cysts on my forehead, temples, chin and jawline which I had never experienced before to that level of severity. At first I tried some more natural methods (azelex-based serums, natural cleansers, sulfur, etc) and some of my lesions improved slightly but not much. The cysts weren't decreasing in size and were taking weeks (or even months) to heal. I kept getting new ones while the old ones were on their way out. Then I started Dan's regimen and went through weeks of red skin, peeling and flaking, itchiness, etc. even though I followed it as prescribed and ramped up the dosage accordingly. I was on the regimen for about 2.5 months and my skin had started to clear, but then I developed crusty patches of skin on my nose and chin that became even more red and irritated from the BP 2.5%. I was hoping that the regimen would work for me, but to be honest, it was extremely time-consuming and a bit of a morale killer. I stopped the regimen and started using a few drops of coconut oil instead (no harsh cleanser, just a splash of water in the morning and a micellar solution applied with cotton pads to remove makeup at night). To apply the oil:
-Moisten hands and put 4-6 drops of oil on them using a glass dropper if you have one
-Lightly rub together then massage all over face until absorbed I've had no new cysts and small pimples take a day or so to heal. The redness is gone. My skincare regimen takes 2 minutes instead of 30. I also take coconut oil internally before every meal (1.5 TBSP) and 100,000 IU Vitamin A palmitate (Genestra brand) 1x/day recommended by a Naturopath. I'm on a grain-free, sugar-free eating plan. My skin is clear and beautiful ag

Pros:
I use Spectrum coconut oil, the one for cooking and/or body and hair. No scent.14 oz jar last a long time, remember a little goes a long way!
Cons:
None
I am mixed w black /white. I use as a hairdress, wash out every 3 days. it has made my hair grow and made it look very healthy. I use all over body as lotion, love it!!!! I have cystic acne and i wash face w cetaphil cleanser then i put coconut oil on at night before bed then. It has stopped the breakouts and my skin is well hydrated which helps wrinkles. I have used this oil for any minor cuts also, works great! Taking away acne scars too!

Pros:
Inexpensive, Natural, Efective Elimination of Acne, Natural Exfoliating and Anti Aging Properties
Cons:
seems greasy at first but soaks in very quickly
This stuff really works. I have tried hundreds of dollars worth of toxic as well as natural products. None of them have been effective, and in fact caused more damage. I was fed up and finally tried this. In three days my bumps are gone and the scars are healing!!! My face is feeling more balanced finally. Here is my regimine:
Day and Night
Wash with Purpose liquid face cleanser then apply a finger nail size of unrefined organic coconut oil. I massage the oil for a minute. Voila. Thats it.

Pros:
Natural, affordable, smells delicious, has many other uses.
Cons:
It does make your skin shiny at first, but absorbs in about 10-15 min or just put some powder on top.
I've been battling with sever acne for 3 years now, and have been using proactiv for 1 year. Proactiv has helped a lot but always left my skin dry in areas (I can only use it once a day), and I still had minor blemishes constantly. I started using coconut oil on my hair and it smelled so delicious I started using it as a moisturizer. After about a week my skin was feeling great, smooth, soft, balanced (not dry or oily anywhere). Now it's been just about a month and my skin has become clearer all over and there have been no new break outs. How to use: Wash your face with whatever acne wash you use, then take about a a fingernail sized amount of coconut oil and rub it between your palms until it melts, then rub over your face. Highly recommended.

please don't do this!!
Honestly, if I could, I would give this zero stars. Maybe it works for some people, but after trying the oil cleansing method with coconut oil over two years ago, my acne has exploded into a nightmare of cysts, blocked pores, oiliness, and red marks from the constant onslaught of pimples. After realising how comedogenic coconut oil is, I understand how it blocked my pores in the first place, but I cannot for the life of me understand why I have ongoing acne from using this. Perhaps it messed up the pH of my skin or something like that? All I know for sure is my skin was almost perfect before I tried coconut oil and now it's ruined and I would do anything to go back and tell myself to PUT THE DAMN COCONUT OIL DOWN and stick to my perfectly good skincare routine. This review probably sounds crazy but I just want to tell anyone considering coconut oil to do so at your own risk.
Pros:
great body moisturizer
great hair treatment
