Pros:

None

Cons:

It broke me out.

Expensive

I read all they hype about this oil and so I bought the best one -- organic, etc. etc. Epic fail. It made my skin worse. Recently I looked on zero zits list of comedogenic ratings and this got a higher rating. Wish I'd known that before I tried it. I would NEVER do this again. There are better oils for your face, like sunflower oil.

Eat it!
I suffer from hormonal acne'"I'm talking the giant cysts that looks like you're trying to grow another nose; and those suckers can last for weeks. I started eating coconut oil several months ago. I would have it on a slice of toast as a snack, but not really much more than that. I didn't see a difference, so I decided to up the serving size. Now, I eat it by the spoonful. I have about two tablespoons, spaced out through the day. So, a spoonful before work, when I get home and then before bed. My acne has near enough disappeared. This month, I got one'"yes, one!'"cyst on my chin, but it died down in only a couple of days. I'm still too afraid to use it as a moisturizer, but I'm happy with the results from eating it. My favourite brand is Tiana. For those people whose acne has gotten a lot worse from using coconut oil might have an intolerance/allergy to it. I have the same problem when I use/consume products with sunflower oil in them. Then, it's acne city.

Pros:

-clears little bumps on your face
-smooths skin
-lightens skin pigmentation

Cons:

- you will break out at first, but its just your skin pushing the bacteria out so you wont break out again. so keep useing it!

ive had moderate acne for about a year now, i tired everything from neutragina to Skin ID and nothing worked.:( i was beginging to give up. THEN my mom was watching the today show and she learned about coconut oil. WELL! she went out and bought me some.(awesome mom) and told m,e to wash my face with this. i was sceptical about it at first, but i tried it anyway. in a week i instantly was seeing all my tiny flesh colored bumps start to become big and real zits. i was so mad! then i did some research and relized it was pushing the bacteria out of my face. and the zits didnt even stay for 3 days so it was ok:) but now they are gone and i have less bumps then i though. ive been useing it for a month now and i look more like a normal teenager.:) im begining to love my skin now:)

A safe product for acne sufferers!
I started using Coconut oil around one to two years ago, at which time I was suffering from a lot of cystic acne; mostly on my cheeks and chin area. I no longer experience acne as bad as I used to but I still do suffer a little around my chin area. I'm sure that coconut oil has had a big part to play in the significant reduction of my acne. I don't believe it's ever caused me to break etc and instead all it seems to have done is help clear my acne as well as improve my skins overall appearance. I wouldn't say that is has absolutely AMAZING results but it's definitely a product worth investing in. I love that it's so moisturising, it smells good, it makes my skin glow, look more natural and especially love that's it's 100% natural. I apply coconut oil in a few ways; I apply it to a clean face as an overnight moisturiser (sometimes adding a few drops of tea-tree oil). I apply it in the morning to a makeup free face by dampening my face with warm water, applying the product, rinsing once and then drying or in the evening in the same way to remove my makeup, using a cotton pad to get rid of the excess and also if I'm feeling lazy I just apply it directly onto my face when wearing makeup as a makeup remover using cotton pads. My favourite method is to applying it every morning with warm water before applying make up. It makes your skin silky smooth, natural looking and glowing and I find my makeup applies really well after. I've re-purchased coconut oil many times and I can't see myself stopping repurchasing it ever!

Pros:

Kills cystic acne
Calms other forms of acne down

Cons:

Sometimes the greasy feeling makes me feel uneasy. However, this is the ONLY con I can think of and it really is negligible considering how much coco oil has done to help me.

When I was 21 I started breaking out like never before. As a teenager the most I ever suffered with acne was the occasional spot. The day I turned 23, a cyst broke out on my face. I had no idea what it was, but when it became clear that it wasn't going away, and more started showing up I realized I had a problem. Three dermatologist visits, and four horrible rashes from the medicine they prescribed me later, (which caused my skin to age 20 years, for a few months), I grew fed up with the clinical approach. I tried all kinds of cleansers, skin care products and natural remedies. Nothing provided true relief. Finally a year and a half later I stumbled upon coconut oil while doing research on other natural cures. This was my last ditch effort, because my will and patience were running extremely thin. Long story short, the coconut oil has done WONDERS from my skin. I still have small break outs but it is NOWHERE near as bad as it used to be. Previously I was breaking out in new cysts every other week and I have only broken out in one cyst since I began (mid-october)-which was a result of an illness. That cyst cleared up COMPLETELY in two days from a combination of coconut oil and garlic (used topically). Please note though, that if you are using garlic topically you have to be EXTREMELY careful not to overdo it and burn your skin. Doing so is easy, and can cause your skin to scar. I recommend coconut oil HIGHLY to everyone suffering from acne. Ultimately I believe acne is cured best by diet and detoxification - which also contributed to the clearing of my cysts (Holler, master cleanse!), but coconut oil really helps in the endeavor. It is one of nature's strongest anti-bacterial agents, which is why it is so effective at killing acne. Don't lose all hope if you have cystic acne. Try coconut oil, because the worst that can happen is that it won't work for you.

Hey can you go step by step on how you used it? Did you use any cleansers? Thanks
January 10, 2012

Pros:

Great Moisturizer
Made my skin soft and supple
Helps prevent and tame acne
A little goes a long way
Delicious and Nutritious
Even Skin tone
Helped my sunburn to heal
Takes off water proof makeup easily!

I absolutely love this stuff! When I started college my face exploded with acne to the point I get at least 5 new ones each day. I had Whiteheads, blackheads, oily/combination skin, to cystic acne that ache and throbbed. I couldn't sleep on my side because the pillow hurt my face. My back and chest exploded with acne as well and I tried almost everything but some made it worse like Proactiv. Wanting to go to the natural approach I found this stuff on amazon and saw the raving reviews. Skeptical I even went on you tube to see it was for real. I decided to buy it and in the first 2 weeks I noticed a dramatic difference. Especially for my back acne. My skin didn't feel rough or patchy my skin was smoother and it look dewy at one point, and my cheeks weren't as red as before. My acne of course didn't disappear but I saw i haven't gotten new ones. I kept using it for 1 entire year and my skin is WAY MORE clearer than before. I still have the acne scars since I have hyper pigmentation. But I could easily cover it with makeup. No more bumps, patchy, aching pimples. Routine: Morning and Night -Wash face with a natural soap -Witch Hazel Toner -Differin or Epiduo once in a while. Mostly use it for a spot treatment - Coconut Oil I first get like a teaspoon and massage it all over my face and let it soak in a little bit. Then I gently dab it with a clean tissue paper to get rid of the excess oil. I hear many people say it feels heavy. I believe they just put too much on. A little goes a long way it should feel light but at the same time moisturizing. Oh yes for my back and chest. First I take a shower and put a little bit in my hands and rub it around till it melts. I then massage it on my chest and back till I feel its completely absorb. Your skin will feel smoother the longer you use it :]

Pros:

Affordable, multi-use for hair, skin, takes away acne. yummy with ice cream or in shakes. keeps digestive system going and encourages healthy consumption

Cons:

besides a bit of grease, nothing

I starting taking the pills from whole foods for 10.99 and noticed more energy and less hunger attacks. Only took two a day and they recommended 4-9 per meal. then purchased the organic unrefined spectrum kind from whole foods for 6.99. Wow. I have had severe acne for the last 4 years and used everything from boscia to ahava to weleda (all natural products). Put the coconut oil on my hair, face and body last night and already notice an incredible difference. Had it in a smoothie and vanilla ice cream, my body is changing. The energy, the glow, the decrease in hunger. It seems as though the excess fat in my body is going away. I almost feel as though it has changed my entire life. I feel renewed. I recommend this to anyone.

Clogs pores
I used coconut oil to moisturize + remove makeup and a few weeks later my skin was not only clogged but the texture was rough, my skin looked darker than my own complexion, and it looked dirty. I started breaking out even more and decided to add tea tree oil into the mix to help acne ... I was wrong it made it worst. After I stopped using oils to moisturize my skin (Months ago) my skins texture is back to normal, my complexion is even and my skin is glowing. Don't use coconut oil on your face if you have Combo-oily skin! I recommend Neutrogena oil free moisturizer I have been using it for 2 months and I see a huge difference.

Pregnant Acne Prone/Sensitive/Dry Skin
FYI: I am 21 yo and pregnant. And I have been oil cleaning and moisturizing for 2 1/2 months. Since I am pregnant, I am unable to continue the use of my prescribed acne medication (Benzoyl cream...or whatever it's called). So after I stopped using the acne cream, I noticed my skin started to breakout with deep pimples with the use of just my Aveeno gentle foam cleanser and Vichy cream. After much research I decided to try oil cleansing and moisturizing with coconut oil. It has been two months and my skin loves it! In the mornings I splash water on my face and use a Norwex cloth to gently wipe my face, then I use Loreal Toner for mature skin (I like to use it because it does not dry out my face as much as an acne toner would). The I apply the coconut oil as a moisturizer. ** I found my nose did not like to be moisturizer with coconut oil, so I use virgin olive oil just on my nose.** In the evening, (with or without makeup on) I get my face wet and then rub a dime size of coconut oil all over my face for 30sec, then I get my Norwex cloth wet with hot water, ring it out and place it on my face until it's room temperature. I do this twice to pulling the oil and dirt to the surface. Then I gently use the Norwex cloth to wipe off the coconut oil. I rinse my face afterwards. Apply toner. And apply coconut oil and olive oil to moisturize. If I do have a problem pimple I use tea tree oil to treat it, if I don't pop it and just treat it, it goes away in a few days. Hope this helps anyone! I was so surprised by the results of coconut oil and kind of felt like a hippy but it was worth trying it out.

Pros:

Tastes yummy, makes me feel happier, makes my skin smell great and leaves it with a nice healthy glow.

Cons:

I thought this was a con: brings pimples to a white head... so I stopped using it. But then I realized that a white head is better than any other form of acne, and when one leaves a white head alone, there is little to no scars, and it heals quicker

As long as one eats healthy foods (good fats, fiber, protein, leavy greens) and uses coconut oil on skin, skin should look better, and one will feel happier about oneself. Above all, slash away the bad habits of picking, scratching, and busting open pimples... just use the coconut oil, and whiteheads will probably form, but do not pick them, just let them take their course, and soon, they will stop coming altogether and one will have beautiful skin.
