Pros:

Use as an all over body lotion after a shower...................keeps skin nice and soft and helps prevent pimples and wrinkles. Face may look shiny at first, but by morning, it looks refreshed and soft .

Cons:

none

I have been using coconut oil for years and it works great..............better than proactive and alot cheaper too. Paid about 8 dollars for the organic kind would highly recommend it. A jar lasts for a long time.

Great benefits if you're willing to have clogged pores
This stuff is full of antifungal and antibacterial fatty acids that help kill acne bacteria. But because it's such a heavy oil, it clogs pores and makes your skin oily very quickly, which will eventually lead to more acne and lots of blackheads. It's okay as a short term and occasional treatment, but I highly recommend not using this every day. I've seen people putting this all over their face, that's a big NO! This is OIL, oil clogs pores and you can't avoid that. Add a little to your daily moisturizer or use it as a spot treatment, this isn't something to smear all over your face. That being said, this stuff dissolves makeup. Literally. Any makeup you have on, using this as cleansing oil will get rid of it all. Just be sure to exfoliate and cleanse afterwards to remove the excess coconut oil from your face. If you want the benefits of this oil without the clogged pores, eat it! Taking a spoonful every morning has many skin benefits, as well as other benefits for your body. Use with caution people!

Moisturizing and Soothing
Coconut oil is amazing and has so many benefits for the skin. However, I do think it is best used in moderation for most people, especially if you are trying it for the first time. I think some of the people who have negative experiences with it tend to over-do it. I use it to cleanse my skin 1-2 times a week in the shower using the oil-cleansing method. I really like it because it gently takes off all my make-up & my skin is left feeling super fresh and soft. I have sensitive, normal/dry skin with old acne scars. I also love that it's natural and super simple - just one ingredient. My only complaint?? Having to move it back and forth from the bathroom and the kitchen all the time! Haha :)

its good
I lightly apply a layer of it to my face and body immediately after the shower and sometimes at night before I go to sleep. My skin has never been softer and I don't break out at all. I have tried the oil pulling, teeth whitener thing and it worked as well.

Could of been worse but it was bad
I have teenage, acne prone skin. I have moderate acne! I thought i would use coconut oil and go down the natural route as it made so much sense to me. At first, my skin looked calmer and fresh. 2 weeks later, and i have just stopped using it and dissapointingly went back to my usual cleansing routine. I persivered through the clogged pores, small whiteheads, and just bumping skin especially on the forehead as i was convinced this was the 'detox' effect, but i just cant bear it any longer! It also seemed to bring out my acne scars? To be honest my skin was a mess, i realised this when looking back a pictures before using the oil and i couldnt believe how clear my skin was. It has just set me back! It rated 4 therefore blocks pores, i hear it works on some people though maybe those that are not acne prone.

coconut oil is an elixir for the seborrheic dermatitis
Where to start.. when i found out about coconut oil I had no clue of its purpose except that it came from coconuts. Yeah those hard round things that grow way up on tropical trees. I read good things about how it was a great cooking oil and it one of my go to oils whenever I'm cooking. The great thing about this oil is that you can use it on your skin to moisturize the skin. It has antifungal properties which improves sebderm. You only need to use a very small amount and it smells good. Because it's natural you can use it indefinitely and not have to worry about the potential harmful ingredients compared to hydrocortisone creams. Coconut oil has been one of the best purchases I've made for helping improve my skin!!

Didn't live up to my expectations

Pros:

Makes skin soft
Reduces scarring
Effective spot treatment

Cons:

Won't cure hormonal acne
Makes acne worse before it gets better in some cases

I wish that I could say that coconut oil cured my mild acne, but no. I had a lot of success using lemon juice as a toner and my skin was starting to clear up. This is when I decided to use organic unrefined cold pressed EVCO to make my skin even better. I read that there is an initial purge that lasts anywhere from one week to 2 months, so I expected my skin to get worse before it got better. My cystic acne got better right away, but within a week my ENTIRE FACE was covered in tiny bumps. It was really, really bad and I didnt even wanna go out in public or get my picture taken or look in the mirror. I thought it'd get better since the purging took a while, but after a week or two I was so sad about how I looked that I bought a glycolic acid 3 step system (aqua glycolic) to get rid of the bumps. Within 3 days, the bumps started to get smaller. It is now 3 weeks later and the bumps are still there but MUCH smaller. Now my skin tone/texture is super uneven though, covered in red marks, and worse looking than before :(, although my cystic acne is less severe and I have fewer active acne. As a spot treatment, it makes pimples heal about twice as fast which is nice. I am still using the coconut oil and taking 3 tbsp internally, as its not making my skin worse at all so I'm still kinda hoping I'm one of the few unlucky ones who will take 2 months to purge. I'm losing hope though since I'm 5.5 weeks in already. Also, I have PCOS so my acne is mainly hormonal. I think the only thing that can help with hormonal acne is balancing out the hormones, rather than acne remedies. I do think the coconut oil has made my skin softer and it's a great spot treatment. But I think the aqua glycolic is helping my skin more than the EVCO. I think EVCO could work for some, especially if the acne isn't hormone related. I'm really not sure if the initial purge is worth it, honestly. Especially since it looks like it's not going to completely clear my skin, it just makes it a little bit better.

Pros:

Versatile product that can be used internally and externally meaning more bang for your buck; wonderful moisturizer that makes you smell delicious; makes hair and skin glow!

Cons:

None!!!!

This is a must have for every kitchen and medicine cabinet! Acne was never the problem for me; it was the scars it left behind on my face and my confidence. I have tried many products but none have delivered results as quickly and substantially as unrefined, extra virgin olive oil. I am happily saying goodbye to my scars, dry skin, and dull skintone and saying hello to bright, dewy, glowing skin.

Pros:

tasty, great for skin or hair moisturizing

Cons:

break outs!

this left my oily, clog-prone, acneic skin a wreck. i can't believe I thought this would be good as an *acne* treatment. approach w/ caution. (fyi, in my experience, only grapeseed oil hasn't broken me out, and even then only in very, very tiny quantities. olive oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil all ruined my skin).
