Pros:

Theoretically, it's a nice combo treatment - antibiotic + retinoid

Cons:

Did nothing to clear my acne
Expensive

Used this some years ago when I was living down south - it was prescribed by my GP who had no idea about skin but said lots of his patients liked it. It did nothing for me and was expensive, so I stopped after a few months.

Pros:

It clears skin within 3 weeks!! And I still get one or two around my period but hey, that's normal! I use this Ziana with a prescribed wash and medication. So they also have factors in the clarity of my skin. It costs about $500 without a prescription. But luckily my parents have great insurance and we only pay $20 per tube. The tube and the tube is quite large.

Cons:

It drys out skin if you use too much. You the amount the doctors tells you to. If you do have dryness use olay sensitive skin oil free lotion on your face it takes that oilyness right way, without clogging your pores. FYI it works great for people with oily skin because I have oily skin and it's perfect. But back to the product it also makes my face a little red but I cover that up with a quick dab of powder on my red areas.

I extremely recommend this product because it is absolutely an agent that help me have no acne of my face.

Pros:

Clears skin quickly

Cons:

Leaves skin flakey and dry

Only use twice a week and I have clear skin. Althought the day after I use it my skin is dried out. Moisturizer is a must!

Pros:

apply small amount once a day
gradual results

Cons:

irritating until your skin adjusts to it
must remain pale

my derm prescribed me ziana gel, solodyn antibiotic, and triaz foaming cloths. in the morning i wash my face with the triaz cloth and then take the solodyn pill. at night i wash my face with cetaphil and then apply this gel. my skin was so irritated the first couple of weeks. i watched the movie 'brothers' and i was allergic to my own tears. had that 'just cried' look throughout the entire next day : ( skin really dries out at first.. make sure you have a good moisturizer.. and more importantly.. wait at least an hour before applying moisturizer on your face after applying this gel. its been almost a month now and my skin is adjusting.. it's not at all irritated just a little dry. i can see my skin starting to clear.

Pros:

Almost all clear!

Cons:

Burning, peeling, itching, soreness, initial breakout, made scars stand out

The first few weeks I used Ziana, I definitely thought that I was going to quit. I have used tretinoin in the past and it did not work out. I was extremely nervous when my derm prescribed me this (I have very fair and sensitive skin). At first I experienced a major breakout within a week. It was horrible. My skin got extremely oily and then dried out. It itched and stung. My face was sore to the touch. But, now about four weeks later my skin is way better. I still have a few tiny bumps and my scars seem to stand out more, but hopefully they will start to fade. One thing to note it that this product is very thin and runs out of the tube easily, so you can end up putting too much on. You want to use as small amount as possible and I only use at night. I mix it with a fragrance free and dye free lotion to get it to spread easier. Overall I'm very happy, but I think that I'll probably end up switching to something else once the card runs out because my insurance doesn't cover it.

Pros:

Worked well for me for about a year.

Cons:

Makes face oily, after about a year my face started getting red, dry and irritated all the time. Lowered the dosa and finally had to stop completely.

26 year old female with stubborn hormonal acne mostly around chin. Ziana kept my face realtively clear for about a year (using no other products but Cerave cleanser and moisturizer). At the year mark, my skin started protesting and had to stop using it.

Pros:

It works. Fantastically. It also doesnt dry out my skin like my dermatologist said it did which was what I mainly worried about because I have dry skin.

Cons:

- A bit expensive around $100 for the non generic brand
- Your acne gets significantly WORSE before it gets better. IF this happens to you, dont worry, the initial breakout should subside and you should see improvements in about a month

TRY IT. THis is the ONLY thing (along with the 10% benzyol peroxide cream) that worked for me. I tried all of the cleansers and creams and masks and peels and systems etc. that promised clear skin, but my acne is stubborn and it didnt help even a little bit. If you are like me, you should really give this a go because it worked for me and alot of my friends too:)

Pros:

Cleared up cystic acne and when new pimples come up, they subside in 2-3 days. Cheap as I have only bought one container of the gel and it's last me 3 months. Also, no mood-altering side effects!

Cons:

Very difficult to handle in beginning. My skin peeled like crazy and was very red. Also, it has been very slow healing on the shallow scars left over from the cystic acne.

This is a pretty good product. When I first began using it, I had large, painful cystic acne all over my cheeks. The gel will make your skin peel in the beginning but trust me don't give up. I'm about three months into using Ziana and I hardly get any more cysts (and if I do, it's gone within 2 days). Although it has not completely cleared up the scarring left over from the acne, my scars continue to fade and seem to get better every day. Last pieces of advice: do NOT pick acne when on this gel, it will just make it worse and if the peeling gets really bad, use tweezers to lift off the excess skin (an especially good technique if you're applying makeup daily). Good luck!
