Pros:

It works immediately, believe me.. you'll feel it. Depending on your acne, it make take few days to be notice but I definitely saw difference within a day or two, hard to believe.. i know. No need to apply too much, little bottle is more than enough

Cons:

It will burn, and create much discomfort. But read below, as I'll tell you what worked for me and what stopped the redness/dry skin/itching

Just like you all, I tried all the products and had the same symptoms. I dont have severe acne, but i get some occasionaly because of my oily skin, and because of hockey 4 times a week. For some reason though, my derm prescribed Tazorac (for night) and Benzaclin(for morning). I tried that regimen, what a mistake ! It was just too much, my face was bright red, burning and then the worst part, flaky skin. After few trials and changing the regimen, this is what I came up with that I believe works the best. Just like everything else in life, in moderation, the key is time and patience. 1) Wash face (Cetaphil cleaner-morning, SkinMD Oilyskin-night) 2)Moisturizer-Cetaphil (facial / regular) Wait at least 15 mins/ lotion is absorbed 3)benzalin -night . I would alternate tazorac every 3 days, so twice a week (W & SA) Everyother day would be benzaclin/ I apply the medicine at night because sun/wind can affect your skin and react to the med ,.. good luck !

Generally OK

After not using it for a while, the first few uses make my skin very red, itchy and dry. Eventually my skin starts to get used to it and after a couple of months my skin is generally a lot clearer than it was before (but not cured).

Cleared Me Up, but Oh the Peeling!
I finally caved and went to a derm who prescribed a trifecta of BP facewash (10%), Duac, and Retin-a. I try to avoid the BP facewash since it seems excessive to use multiple drying agents on my face, so I just wash with African black soap at night and splash water in the morning. The Duac is meant to be used in the morning, and the Retin-a at night. I was advised to use the Retin-a every 3 days at first, then slowly make it a part of my nightly routine. I only mention all this because my skin has become very noticeably clear in only a week, and really the only treatment I can attribute such a development to is the Duac. I suddenly developed severe adult acne a year ago, marked by pustule components across my forehead and cheekbones, and painful cystic components along the jawline and sometimes down the sides of my neck. This acne was so stubborn and it always seemed as soon as I had a hold on it a new zit would crop up which in turn bred 2 more zits, and so forth! I used topicals as a teen but never had very good results, so I wasn't very optimistic. I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by how quickly even the most stubborn pimples a reduced in size, redness, and tenderness. However, be prepared for the peeling. Maybe not peeling, but flaking. I mean, you can literally just kinda slough it off with a finger. Because I don't use a harsh cleanser in the morning this isn't very noticeable during the day, but once I get out of the shower at night (after I've washed my face with black soap) it is VERY noticeable. Granted my face doesn't feel dry or tight, just looks it (and if it's only at night when I'm home it's all good), so I can deal. Give it a try, if it's going to work you'll probably notice very quickly

Definitely helps
So I've been using clindamicyn for about 6 months now and it definitely helps. I put it on in the morning and maybe once more in early evening. I definitely helps speed up the healing process and make pimples a lot smaller. Not sure how good it is at stopping new ones from coming up. But definitely recommend!

Good but don't get comfy
When I first began using duac (about 3 years ago) it worked well, if I remember correctly. Mind you, my acne back then was mild anyway. It did, however, dry out my skin, and for the entire duration of using it, certain parts of my face were unmaskably red . Within the past year (after two years of duac being great) it stopped working. I continued to use it, hoping it would pick up but within that third year, I had one incredibly bad breakout which took many months to begin to reduce, and after that, my skin would just do whatever it wanted. My skin is now dreadful, so it definately doesn't prevent any problems in the future. But hey, what does. If you are suffering acne, definately give it a go, but just don't expect miracles. My skin was never perfect on it, but it was a lot better.

Effective for my skin

Pros:

Dual Medications
Effective

Cons:

Drying
Sticky

I've been using BenzaClin for about a month now in conjunction with Retin-A. This is my first attempt to use prescription products to treat my acne. I believe the BenzaClin is being most effective. It does have a hardening effect of about 2 weeks then it begins to ease off. It also tends to make my face feel stiff if I don't apply moisturizer afterwards. Glycerin in some creams can also react with the BP and create some stinging. Overall I feel like it's been effective for me, and the effects are starting to work, slowly clearing my skin.

Best BP product I've tried

Pros:

Clears up whiteheads (i'll update in a few weeks for cystic)
Smooth texture
Doesn't smell bad

I'd say it'd one of the stronger ones out there, but my skin is just so oily that it becomes "normal" when i apply it (yay). I'm actually starting it up again after trying the natural route (which didn't work out for me), but while I was on it the first two times it definitely cleared up my extremely severe acne, with the use of minocycline as an oral and vitamin A topical at night. Needless to say, it does it's job, going to see whether it works on cystic acne, which i've been getting lately :(

Pros:

Does its job, reduces acne, easy to apply.

Cons:

Dry skin (but the longer I've used this, the less my skin got dry because it got used to it).

Doesn't clear ALL pimples.

I've used this product for nearly two years and it definitely has kept my acne under control but I wasn't 100% clear. Still, couldn't complain because my face was getting better. Whenever I ran out of this, my face would get really horrible again and I had to quickly make an appointment with the doctor to get another one. I used to apply this twice a day but reduced it once a day at night, which I find is the best time to apply it. I no longer use this product now though, because for some reason, it doesn't work on me as well as it used to :( I've switched to Panoxyl Gel, which works slightly better for me and is cheaper. However, I would recommend Duac because the bottom line is, it DOES work, but it doesn't cure acne, just clears it up.

Pros:

-works

Cons:

-dry skin

I just wanted to say that if this product gives you dry skin, the only thing that worked to moisturize me was Neotrogena Oil-free Sensitive skin moisturizer. I tried over 10 different moisturizers and that is the only one that stopped the crustyness without breaking me out.
