Somewhat effective...

Pros:

clears some pimples

Cons:

generates free radicals
not 100% effective

Duac works to an extent, but it did not clear my face of acne. Also, benzoyl peroxide generates free radicals and delays the heeling of the skin, meaning red marks and hyperpigmentation lasts longer.

Most effective topical I used

Pros:

Limits breakouts

Cons:

Smells
Drys skin
Bleaches clothes

This was the only cream that made a difference for me. I found that it's best applied twice a day and for many times in my life I didn't need anything else to control my skin. Then I got fed up, as not only does this cream start to smell if you leave it on the whole day, it bleaches clothes, it's expensive, scars take long to fade, and most importantly, it will never cure your acne only deal with the symptoms. If you mild acne without any cysts then I would advise using this cream otherwise speak to your derm about accutane.

Drying, Itchy and Scarring

Cons:

Dries out skin (peeling of skin)

This was my first acne product. I've used it for a long long time, and it helped to reduce the number of breakouts I had. However, this product really dries out your skin, and leaves behind acne scars. Make sure you use a lot of moisturizer.

Nothing special.

Pros:

Reduced pimple size

Cons:

Dry, red skin

A couple of my friends recommended this to me saying it was the best acne cream theyd ever tried. So instead of refilling my prescription for tactuo (epiduo), i asked my doctor for this. Although it reduced the size of my pimples, i still had the same amount of acne. I can see how it could work for some people, however i think my skin does better with a smaller dosage of benzoyl peroxide. For now ill stick to tactuo which wasnt perfevt but cleared 80% of my breakouts.

Pros:

Clears acne.

Cons:

leaves skin very sensitive and dry. The BP leaves a white film on face. acne does return because this topical medication contains clindamycin which is an antibiotic and antibiotics not only "kill" the bad bacteria but the "good" bacteria also. The body does absorb this so be careful if there is a family history of Ulcerative Colitis or other GI problems.

All skin needs to have moisture and the BP in this just is way too drying and the acne does return after a few months. I have used this product for several months years ago and when I did I notice the pattern of it being effective for 3 months and then stopping and I would have to change to another medication and return to the Clindamycin later. It is a cycle of bad skin then good skin then bad skin due to the antibiotic and the skin's environment.

Pros:

Cooling

Cons:

Didn't work, expensive, small tube, keep in fridge.

Tried this product it didn't work on my skin, tried it or two months. Used two tubes but it was useless really, now I use clinique products anti blemish. I find them fantastic, however my acne is not completely gone. I feel that there is for some people at least 'no cure' so sad! But i am trying to come to terms with that. As I have tried EVERYthing and nothing as got rid of it completely:-(

Pros:

can smooth out skin and decrease spots a bit, maybe.

Cons:

The first night that i used this product my skin was really really itchy and sore. I woke up in the morning, my mum said that my skin had improved a bit, but was red. second day OUCH! My skin was severly dry, red and painful, i was in tears with pain

PLEEEEEASE DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN - YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! p.s it cost me nothing because of the NHS.

Pros:

The breakouts are smaller and go away faster. If I have a pimple coming on, and I put a little on in the day, it usually doesn't get too much worse. I get less whiteheads, which I ALWAYS used to get.

Cons:

I still get just a frequent pimples. About 3 a day, which is actually more than normal. It's almost my period, and that makes me break out though...It hasnt gotten rid of my acne, but I dont know how long it's supposed to take. Been on it a month.

Smaller breakouts the go away faster, but has not cleared acne at all. Just as frequent as always. I'm also on Doxycycline at the same time. I dont recommend it as of yet, but things could change. I sure hope they do.

Pros:

I went to the dermatologist for the fist time and he prescribed benzaclin and some kind of antibiotic. I'm not sure if the antibiotics works but this gel is drying up my acnes pretty good.

Cons:

I have very oily skin but this gel made my skin extremely dry. I had to use tons of moisturizer.

well, just give it a try, it's working for me but the price is a little too high. I'm still trying to figure out why my insurance company only pay 38 dollars for this gel ( I had to pay 170 out of my pocket) while I'm paying $167 for my insurance every month. any one have good health insurance that covers derm. visits and acne prescriptions?

Pros:

Really good for the huge zits
Clears up acne super fast
Pretty affordable

Cons:

Not consistent with me at all
Burned my face horribly

Duac really cleared up my huge zits well, as for the little ones, not so much. It wasn't worth the redness and burning though. Around my time of the month, it wouldn't work at all, leaving me with horrible looking skin. But i do have really sensetive skin, so i would reccomend this product. :)
