Pros:

Gentle
Cheap

Cons:

Doesn't help acne
Smells kind of weird

I have used spectro gel for months now, and have not seen an improvement in my acne, which was greatly dissapointing due to the number of good review on here. I use the purple bottle, and gently cleanse my skin with it for 30 seconds twice a day, and it has done nothing. Granted, the results could've been worse, as it could've harmed my skin.

Pros:

Big bottle, feels excellent on skin, does not foam, gentle

Cons:

Not sure how much it helps acne or pimples

I've just started using spectro jel products. I'm using the cleanser, 2.5% BP, and the moisturizer. So far so good. I'm pleased with these products so far.

Pros:

- Gentle. Non-drying
- Affordable and easily available (I'm in Canada, of course)

Cons:

- The medicinal scent, which doesn't bother me, but others might not like it
- Does not take off makeup well

Since there seems to be 5 different versions of Spectro Jel, you should know that my review is for the "Sensitive, Problem Prone Skin FRAGRANCE FREE" version, with purple label. I never cared to have my skin "squeaky clean" even though I have oily skin, because overstripping the oils doesn't do my skin any good. Spectro Jel cleans without drying out my skin in the name of cleanliness. It's a non-foaming gel - akin to a thicker Cetaphil in terms of consistency - which means it's probably not the best for makeup removal. I only wear mineral powder makeup so Spectro Jel is sufficient for that, but if you wear anything more tenacious, such as liquid makeup and mascara, I would imagine a separate makeup remover must be used. Do keep this in mind because leftover makeup probably won't help your acne any. Otherwise, I'm just sorry I didn't think of trying this cleanser earlier.

Pros:

cleans skin really well, makes my skin baby soft that my bf loves touching my face now, blemishes are gone, and overall skin tone looks great! which means no more cover up or concealer for me! keeps you moisturized, but not looking shiny.

Cons:

doesn't lather, but that's ok I still have my dove soap. slimy, but hello its called spectro *jel*

I LOVE THIS STUFF! I moved from B.C. to Alberta and the climate change was brutal on my super sensitive skin! It was so dry it made me break out like crazy. I tried many products that worked for me back in B.C. but it seemed my skin refused them. I tried many more products until my skin looked like a pizza face! I went to the dermatologist and he recommended some pills and spectro jel. the pills made my skin break out even more! the jel made my skin tone look better, but my pimples still stayed. I switched dermatologists and went to another one where I was put on the pill. My new dermatologist still recommend I keep using the jel so I did. After a year of struggling with the climate change, my skin finally started to clear up. I was so happy that one morning I woke up and my face was almost clear, I cried for joy. I finally had my pretty face back! i recently switched to a different pill, and my face has gotten even better. I love having my face back! GIVE THIS STUFF A TRY!

Pros:

Economical:You can find it on sale under $10 at least a few times a year
Paraben-free
Can be used all over body

Cons:

Does not lather up (personal preference)
Does not remove all traces of makeup
No fragrance

I've been using this product for 5+ years and cannot find a better, more inexpensive alternative to this gel cleanser. I keep a bottle in the shower and another on the bathroom counter.

I've noticed a huge difference in my skin since using this stuff. I no longer have irritations or get itchy during the day. My skin actually feels clean when I'm done.

Pros:

Recommended by my dermatologist
Cleans face really well
Does prevent acne
Good for sensitive skin

Cons:

Doesn't take away acne, only prevents it

I started using this because I had allergic reaction to my last cleanser so my derma gave me this to use instead. I've been using this for quite a while and it's really good for people with sensitive skin. Also one tiny 50 ml bottle lasted me the entire summer! so it really stretches your dollar :)

Pros:

it's gentle, it comes in a huge, inexpensive pump bottle, it helped clear my acne!

Cons:

you may need some trial and error to find the one that's right for you. The SpectroDerm did not work as well as Spectro Jel Oily Skin. Also you need to work it in a little

I use SpectroDerm to clean my tattoos when they are healing. I ran out of my normal cleanser one day (just one of those random noxema ones.. i was always changing never bought the same stuff twice because i didnt like em) so i decided to use that to clean my face til i had a chance to run to the store. I really liked it, and when i bought the one for oily skin it worked even better! But face is usually oily all day no matter what but now it stays mat all day! It works best if you rinse your face with really warm/hot water for a couple of splashes, then the jel for 30-45 sec, gently massage, rinse thoroughly, then rinse with really cold water. my regimen: Avene Make Up remover ... but instead of rubbing off i wash it off SpectroJel witch hazel 2.5% bp as spot treatment only (but im pretty clear now vichy mattifying moisteriser for sensitive skin

Pros:

Nothing really...

Cons:

At first, it smells like glue.
Ineffective and a bit expensive.
Broke me out a lot more.

I have been using spectro jel religiously (twice a day, 30 seconds) due to the rave reviews I have seen on various websites. Initially, it smells a bit like glue, but you'll get used to it I have been using Cetaphil Sensitive Skin before I started using this, and I had no pimples whatsoever on my cheeks. After couple of weeks after SJ, my cheeks gradually broke out more and more. This continued to the point where I could just not take it anymore due to scarring, so I switched back to Cetaphil, and my face cleared within couple of days. This may work on some skin types, but in my case, it clearly did not.
