Pros:

Keeps my skin from being oily, minimizes the redness to a point, not sure if it stops the formation of pimples, but it definitely helped my skin stop producing as much oil as it has in the past.

Cons:

Can't wear it while out of the house, and sometimes its hard to wash off of the blemish.

Its good to use to keep the acne at bay and helps reduce redness. All I do is put it on at night before I go to bed and usually when I wake up most of it has flaked off but my skin isn't as red as it was the night before. Good spot treatment if you want to get rid of redness quickly. Just dab a little on, wait until it starts to dry and flake off, wash it off, and the redness should have gone down a lot. Definitely worth trying, because it doesn't irritate the skin and only takes around 15 mins to dry :)

Pros:

dries up pimples

Cons:

overdries non-pimpled skin

use sparingly on active pimples and it works well to try them out. Don't get the caladryl - use ganuine calamine lotion.

Tried this but unwanted side effect
So after reading all great reviews on here I finally decided to give calamine lotion a try so i went bought a bottle of calamine lotion I used i just i was told too by applying it and leaving it for 30 minutes then washing off twice a day. I have been doing this for two days an waiting for results however in the mean time i have noticed that my tan skin is looking very white. I was out with my friends and one person asked if i was wearing sunscreen because I looked like a ghost. Why is this happening !!?!? Is it that my skin is very dry if so what should i use to moistureize that will not cause acne. Pleasr hrlp as I still want to use this product yo treat my acne. And also how to get my complexion normal again!

Pros:

soothing

Cons:

Left my skin covered in little bumps that eventually came to the surface as awful acne

After reading lots of reviews I was excited to try this stuff. I bought the CVS brand and while it seemed to work well at first, I developed little bumps on my cheeks after about a week. Over he past 3 weeks all these bumps have been coming to the surface, giving me the worst acne I have ever had. I went back to my usual regimen of vigil coconut oil and feel that works much better.

Pros:

Inexpensive, soothes skin, reduces swelling and pain of cystic acne

Cons:

Can't be worn under makeup.

I use a clear version of calamine lotion. It has the shiny look of one of those peel off facial masks when it dries. However, you can't use it under makeup because it does tend to peel off as you apply the make up. If you don't use makeup, you could probably get away with wearing a light layer of it. This is the best thing I've found so far to help with the incredible pain of cystic acne. I think the topical zinc is what helps with the healing. BP only makes my acne worse -- this helps but does not seem to cure it. Of course, I have severe acne and am getting ready to take another course of Accutane for it (10 years after my first course) -- but I am amazed at how much it helps to reduce swelling and pain associated with the cysts. Once I start the Accutane, I'm not going to use it, but it has been a godsend for me until I am able to start the Accutane again.

Pros:

reduces pimple size redness and driess it out.

Cons:

if you use it wrong you wont get results!

So i had a breakout out of nowhere and had no clue what to do. So I started using calamine lotion and nothing happened. I had been applying it all over my face in big amounts. So i stopped using it. Then I decided to use it applying it with a cotton ball only to areas that needed it and the results have been fantastic! In just a day the change was huge. I have also been using it with hydrogen peroxide which I also apply with a cotton ball. I think when it comes to calamine less is more. At least for me (:

Pros:

It works. Will reverse all forms of current surface acne and even helps get rid of red spots.

Cons:

Won't directly prevent acne. Can be tough to wash off

I've been struggling with acne for 4 years now, I'm 20 now, and I've tried A LOT of products out there. I read about calamine lotion and tried it and wow. I'm not sure if you want to be using it everyday because your acne might get use to it, but when you do use it at night. Make sure it hasn't expired.

Pros:

-Dries my pimples but doesn't dry my skin
-Clears up pimples I had been getting in the same place over and over
-Doesn't burn like benzoyl peroxide can

Cons:

-It's a little runny, so it can be messy
-Some people like the smell, but I don't
-Dries pink (but who cares?)

It occurred to me to use calamine lotion one day when I realized how often my pimples itch (my mom used to give us calamine lotion for itches). My pimples are the red, inflamed variety that I would almost describe as hives except that they have pus in them. They are mostly on my chin. I read the bottle and it said it helps stop "oozing and weeping" (due to poison ivy...), and it really does! I'm so glad to see that others have found this solution as well. I wonder why I never heard of it. It's much nicer to my skin than benzoyl peroxide -- and I notice it is described as a "skin protectant."

Pros:

Inexpensive
Works better than benzoyl Peroxide or salicylic acid for a spot treatment.

Cons:

Runny

I had a giant cystic pimple on my cheek. Normally, I would spot treat it with Proactiv 6% benzoyl peroxide, and it would get super dry and take about a week to completely heal. I decided to try calamine lotion instead and my cystic pimple went from a painful deep hard round lump to disappearing completely in only 3 nights of spot treatment! I now have a tiny dry spot where I applied the calamine, but it was much less drying than the 6% BP!
