Would've given it a 4.5; A truly wonderful product!

Pros:

Did an excellent job controlling my acne.

Cons:

Can really dry out your face but moisturizer is your friend.

I've used the Benzac AC 5% for a little less than 11 weeks now and from the first day I've used it compared to now, it truly is amazing. Now I only gave it a 4.5 rating because it didn't really "clear" everything up. I'd say I'm about 90%-95% clear but I've moved on to the 10% variant to try my luck, hopefully it works. I really love this product and I'd recommend it to anybody.

Pros:

starts working within 1 week
does get rid of pimples and scars
noticible reduced in 1 month

Cons:

dries out skin in a month and can get sore, red, iritated especially around the nose though goes away in a few weeks
my acne came back after 3 months of using benzac

i would recomend this for your first time trying it. in 2-3 months my skin was completly clear. I kept using benzac and now my skin is back to acne poping up so once your skin has reached perfect stop using it!

Trick not to get redness and itchiness

Pros:

clears up acne completely
cheap, no prescription needed

Cons:

bleaches evthing my face touches
might dry ot skin

My secret is to put Benzac OVER the moisturizer. After shower I wait 5 min before putting on Benzac, guess what, by that time skin is already dried out:( so Benzac plus, here we go red and itchy skin:) moisturizer after didn't save me:) So my way, after shower I use my moisturizer on NOT completely dried out skin. THEN wait 5-15 min and then apply generously Benzac. That way I completely avoid ALL dryness, redness, itchiness:) Probably it's not completely absorbed by skin, but it's OK, cos smth. IS absorbed and NO irritation at all:) Warning: IF irritation occurs just change the moisturizer, some of them react badly with Benzac. I use nuxe prodigieuse light or creme fraishe light- works great. Worked terrible though with nuxe nirvanesque light - got irritation:)

Pros:

clears up skin, noticed results in the first few weeks and by and couple of months your acne should be minor, this is with consistent use.

Cons:

your skin will become dry and flaky, it will be tight and uncomfortable. this should only last a few weeks as your skin will be used to it by then. you should consider an oil free moisturiser.

this is a great product but bear in mind that your acne is not going to go away with no sacrifice. you have to be commited to using this product consistently, even though your skin will be dry and flakey for a bit. it worked for me i had pretty bad acne and after 3 months i was happy with my results. a year on and my skin in perfect.

The only acne treatment cream that works
I have been struggling and suffering from mild acne, white & blackheads since teenage and I still fighting against this problem until now, as an adult although my skin has clear up alot. I got to know this cream during my 1st time visiting a doctor to get a professional advice to cure my acne 5 or 6 years back. Since then, I use this cream on my face twice everyday. It took about 4 to 5 days to cure a bumpy acne on my skin; 1 to 2 days for tiny or small pimple. I don't think it cures white & blackheads much. I still need to go for a professional facial & extraction monthly to clear those stubborn white, blackheads out of my face. Not forget to mention, this cream is inexpensive and it can be easily found in most pharmacy. 5% benzoyl peroxide is more than enough to cure mild acne. However, I will pick 10% if I wish to cure my acne faster. Remember to moisture your skin each time after applied as it tend to dry your skin if without proper moisturization.

Pros:

Works fairly quickly
Isn't greasy
Over the counter
Does its job!

Cons:

Expensive for a small tube
Consistent use is key
Stings for a bit

I've been on and off Benzac AC 5% for the past six months, just sporadically putting it on the trouble areas (in small dabs). But when I fully integrated it in my skincare ritual in the way the regimen does, I saw results. My acne is not severe at all, but the frequency in which I do get breakouts is very often, so I needed something to WORK. Benzac does work, only if you're willing to put the effort in on rubbing it on your whole face (like the regimen says) twice a day. You can't give up even though your face might feel like it's on fire for a few minutes. I think that's a minor trade-off for clearer skin. On the first day after applying Benzac on my face, my reddish pimples that were swollen the day before began to dry up. The smaller whiteheads near my ears/towards the hollows of my cheeks dissipated and I couldn't feel any cysts coming up. My routine goes: Cleanse with 1) Ponds Clear Solutions Anti-Bacterial Facial Scrub Treat with 2) Benzac AC 5% Moisturise with 3) The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion (When my skin is extra dry, I don't use the Tea Tree Lotion. Instead I use 4) Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion) Hope it works for you!

Pros:

dries out acne

Cons:

might be a bit drying for the skin especially if you have dry skin to begin with

i easily get breakouts because of my oily skin. i tend to get pimples like once a week and its annoying because once one is nearly clearing up,another one takes over. so it's a non-stop cycle thing. ive been using benzac, although im not sure which brand cause i get it from my derm. and ive been using it ever since ! although it might be a bit drying, it sure does help dry up the acne faster. especially cystic ones, which i get once in a while. so yes, really just try this stuff, it works i tell you ! good luck ! :D

Pros:

Dries out acne, helps face try to shed damaged skin. Lightens dark acne spots

Cons:

Really dries out face, can burn around nose area.

I use the 5% wash once a day, leaving the wash on for 5 minutes. The wash started working almost immediantly although the major marks took about a week to really smooth out and about a week and a half to start fading. I had some really small marks on my forehead that really disappeared after two days of use. I suffer from PCOS and this has cleared the dark spots on my checks. I do agree that this product dries out the face but that is part of the healing process. I have used a product called cera.... (I can't remeber the full name) and It moister my face without leaving it greasy. As many have said long term use is needed it is a daily regimine, I also use retin a at night which also helped my acne.

Pros:

Really works, reducs acne after a few months of CONSISTENT USE. It's good becase it works, while not being prescription.
Skin should be almost clear in 3 months, and you should have very minor acne by 6. After that, skin should look normal.

Cons:

When incorporating into the whole cleansing routine it can get a little pricey. I need to buy my cleanser (Neutrogena) Mask (Body Shop) Toner (Biole) plus the Benzac. Overall, i'm paying about $50 a month. But it's well worth.
I did experience some minor dry skin problems a few weeks after I started to use Benzac, but it cleared up after a week.
It DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AWAY! Don't fret and stop using it. Be consistent and it will work.

Slightly drying and a little pricey. But well worth the money as it really helps. Soon I am going to move up to the 10% as the rate of improvement is slowing down. I would really recommend this product, as it is a great cream to use after cleansing at night, when the skin rejuvinates itself. (:
