Not my favourite
So sad they discontinued panoxyl 10% since this happened I've heard Acnecide has the same product so have started this now since my last tube of panoxyl ran out, sad times. I've been using it for around a month or two. Since using it i can't say that it has drastically changed my skin, but it's definitely caused small breakouts of these tiny annoying spots almost covering my forehead so rubbish! It really gets me down, they've appeared on other parts of my skin, also! My skin is super oily like I thought it was oily before but Jeez it's even worse now, anybody else had this problem ? And if so does it go? asking for some reassurance. Also is it best to apply it just at night or also in the morning ? As usually I only put the 10% on at night and I'd have to moisturise before hand using (simple) brand as my skins so sensitive! I feel like as it's a lower dose my skin may need it applied more than once? Maybe even not to moisturise so much? Thanks guys x

Don't like it! DONT USE
Personally I don't like this at all!! I have been trying in out for a few weeks and I have noticed my spots are getting worse the more I use it! They are becoming scars when they disappear and my face was so red the next day! Won't use this again!!

Horrible!
I was prescribed this along with lymecycline (oral antibiotic which I had been taking for two months already). I used this overnight and by the next morning my entire face was red and really itchy (even around my eyes, where the gel went nowhere near!). It took over a week for my skin to return to normal (e.g. for all the swelling / raised bumps / redness to go down). Stupidly, I decided to give it another go a few weeks after this, however I only applied the gel around the areas that were less sensitive (mainly the edges of my face). Again, when I woke up my entire face was inflamed and itchy even on the areas I had not applied it. Definitely NEVER using this again!

STAY AWAY
I've always had acne, when I was around 15 it was at it's worst, but I didn't start any treatments for it till I was 18ish... First I tried Clindamycin Aqueous lotion which was amazing for a while - I applied once in the morning and once in the evening, my skin was crystal clear and my breakouts consisted of maybe 2 spots - loved it -then it just stopped working. I then tried Lymacyclin which just made it so much worse - I got spots in places I never had them - just awful, and later I tried Oxytetracycline (didn't do much) and now i'm on doxycycline which is ok - works on my face but not my back. But before I went onto Oxytetracycline i was given Acneside Cream..... THIS STUFF IS EVIL! I used it for maybe two evenings and then woke up on the third day with severe facial swelling (twice the size). Started taking anti-inflammatories and whatnot, changed all my bedsheets and washed everything so I didn't have any trace of it anywhere but woke on the fourth day and my face had doubled again (I could barely open my eye, they were nearly swollen shut)... Had to go to A&E and was given steroids, stronger anti-inflamattories and was put on watch, etc....and I had a rash that had spread all the way down my back and arms (in places I hadn't even used the cream). The swelling didn't go down for over a week, and basically gave me a chemical peel. My skin was so dry, to the point that if I pulled my face into a frown the skin from under my eyes would stretch (think movie The Mummy style) - and I couldn't put anything on it to help with the peeling as it was way to sensitive, even chamomile lotion, the gentlest thing ever, sent it bright red and burning. (Acneside is so nasty that when I rubbed the excess cream, which wasn't much, onto my chocolate brown towel it bleached it... that and my pillow case). So yeh, I wouldn't recommend this at all - something that bleaches things that severely shouldn't be used on ya face!

Unfortunately a lot of the products mentioned that you have used are antibiotics. It's very common, especially with topical antibiotics, for resistance to the drugs to arise and therefore the effects on the bacteria (P. acnes) are hugely reduced. This will explain why Clindamycin stopped working for you, plus proper prescriptions will state that you can only use it up to around 3 months anyway for this exact reason. It's unfortunate how you reacted to Acnecide but antibiotic treatments can't be used long term. I hope you find something that works for you without giving such a bad reaction.
