Pros:

- clears some acne

Cons:

- dries face (peeling occurs)
- makes skin more sensitive
- stimulates oil production

The "Gotta hate acne" reviewer summed up my reaction to a T. This product has 10% benzoyl peroxide, which is excellent at fighting acne, but is not safe to use on a daily basis as a *cleanser.* I was really hopeful about this product, and it did give me some results. It cleared my facial acne for a little while, and totally cleared my back. However, it damaged the rest of my skin in the process; making it dry, irritated, peeling, and red. Also, to my horror, it made my face more oily later on! Because my skin was being stripped of all the natural oils, it produced copious amounts to try and heal itself and undo the damage. My skin became much more prone to scarring from even small pimples, and just looked damaged and dry all over. This product is not good as a basic cleanser. It's too strong and doesn't improve the health of the skin, just attacks acne. It could be used on the back though, because that's not as sensitive as the face. Other than that, this product doesn't do your skin any favors.

Great for body acne
Takes longer to work than gel, but this stuff is really effective for body acne, especially considering a gel makes it hard to wear clothing without ruining it. This hasn't bleached my clothes!

Pros:

Ceared Acne
Easy one step
10% Benzoyl Proxide Kills all acne Bacteria

Cons:

Overdrying
(BUY A MOSTOURIZER!)

Geat product! it really clears ane within the first two weeks and is very gentle (doesnt sting, but overdries). To fix the side effect you need to buy a skn lotion to sooth the dried skin anfter you face has cleared

Pros:

None

Cons:

Over drying
A bit pricey

I have moderate to mild breakouts, so this may have been a bit much for my skin. At first it seemed to be working and drying out my existing pimples. After using it for about 2 weeks, I started to get a lot more under the skin pimples and blackheads. My thought is that is stripped my skin of too much natural oil, so my skin had to over compensate and produce more oil, thus making my skin more prone to breaking out. Even if you have severe acne, I don't think this harsh product will work in the long run. I hear the 2.5 BP wash is better on the skin, so I may give that one a try if I can muster up spending $11 on something that may make my skin worse.

didn't work for me...
i used this in the past, this product dried my face out horribly and basically sucked the life out of my skin, my skin was flakey and irrataed. no matter how much moisturizer I slathered all over my face I still had many dry patches. it didn't clear my acne either, I got worse acne then I ever had using this and had very deep large zits and occasional cystic acne. I occasionly was clear but just reverted back to acne the next day.. use this product if you would like to put very harsh chemicals on your face and suck the life out of your skin, because from my experience, that's all this product does

Drying but works great!
This is the only face wash that has worked for me in getting rid of my acne. I get an occasional breakout, but they are mild and usually caused by something else. This will dry you out immensely, but if you have a great moisturizer you will never know. I use hemp seed oil with this, and it is great! If you can't use a moisturizer, you won't like this product. Excessive drying is one of the worst feelings. I have used many different washes, clay, etc., and this is the only one that has worked for me! I urge you to try it! I also make sure to use a moisturizer with a decent SPF after applying the oil; benzoyl peroxide can make your skin sensitive and it is best to protect your skin from the ultraviolet radiation. I use CeraVe AM SPF 30 in addition to the oil. I have been using PanOxyl for more than six months. *Edited to fix a typo and also added more information.

Pros:

Clears Skin, Maximum Strength Acne Medication Kills Bacteria, Flattens Raised Bumps, Easy One Step, Can Be Used on Chest & Back As Well.

Cons:

Dries Your Skin Out as it Dries Out Your Acne.

This stuff works great and very quickly. After a little over a week, my face is mostly clear & all my raised bumps have flattened out. I've tried prescription creams & pills from the dermatologist, MaxClarity, Proactiv and countless other products. Nothing has worked as consistently and as fast as PanOxyl. I saw improvements within the first 2 days and my skin continued to improve more and more each day. This stuff is also very inexpensive. This is the clearest I have seen my skin in the past five years that I have been suffering with acne. Even my mother and sister can see a change in my skin. I experienced dryness around the corners of my nose & the crease between my mouth and chin. Just use a good moisturizer that doesn't clog pores while using this product. The dryness is the only down side but didn't bother me one bit since it actually worked very well. This stuff is definitely worth trying!

Pros:

Kills bacteria, clears up acne, makes skin soft

Cons:

a little overdrying, bleaches hair and clothes

If you have moderate to severe acne, this is for you. It does a great job at clearing up skin, but if you only get occasional, mild breakouts, then probably 2.5 benozyl peroxide would work much better. The results are wonderful if you stick with it, and your skin should improve within a week or two. The only problems are that 1) it can over-dry skin and 2) your skin becomes more vulnerable to sun damage. I just use Oil of Olay (SPF 15) after I wash my face, and it works great. Good luck! :)

...
I've been using this product for 3 weeks now and there have been no visible results and my face is just as bad as it was before I started using PanOxyl. Pretty disappointed but at least it was only $10
