Pros:

Makes your skin look glowing
Very light
Easy to apply

Cons:

Made my acne worse and caused large pimples!

I bought this to help cover my acne however it has just made it worse. I tried it a few months ago and it looks fab when you put it on but then I kept on getting more breakouts. My husband suggested it could be the make-up so I stopped using it and went on anti-biotics to clear it up. I thought I would try it again, but the same thing has happened again!!!!! My skin looks terrible again now :( It's a real shame because I really like the look of the product

Pros:

-Good coverage for light acne
-Somewhat controls oil
-Easy to apply

Cons:

-Flakes
-Causes breakouts
-Rubs off easily
-Gives very little coverage for not severe acne

IF I HAD ONLY KNOWN!! I started using bare minerals 2 years ago when I started getting acne. I thought it was a godsend when I first starting using it (seeing as I only had 1-3 pimples at a time) but then as I started breaking out more I would just continuously apply more and more. Then, I found out that a ingredient in bare minerals as well as other mineral makeups is known for its allergic reactions and potential acne breakouts. I have been covering my face in this for years now assuming that it would help when it's only made it worse. Not recommending this!

Pros:

Decent coverage
Luminous effect
Nice consistency

Cons:

Known to cause cystic acne - caused it in me!
Expensive
Not a lot of variety in types of foundation

I used B.E. foundation for years, albeit in my teen years and first year of college I used it sparingly. It wasn't until I had a few bad break outs in spring 2010 that I started using this product everyday to cover up the FEW spots. Throughout the summer developed a pretty serious case of acne (from my own personal experience - 10 to 15 active pustules, a few cystic acnes here and there - not a pretty sight). I didn't correlate me using B.E. with the worsening of my acne since I believed it was healthy for the skin (which it can be for some) and better than liquid foundation. Boy was I wrong. This product contains Bismuth Oxychloride which is in a lot of cosmetic products - including most mineral foundations. It is what gives B.E. its pearly finish and great coverage. Yet this ingredient has shown to cause allergic reactions and CYSTIC ACNE in certain people. I stumbled upon this by mistake when after the "summer of pimples" I went abroad and decided it was the best time to go on a make up strike. Sure enough even with the increased pollution, increased humidity, and all over dustiness of Senegal my face slowly healed with the use of a mild cleanser. When I came home I thought "I can start wearing B.E. again since its not humid or polluted quite as much". Yet sure enough within two weeks I had the same pussy pustules and cystic acne forming on my chin and cheeks that had gone away over the past 3.5 months. Adding in B.E. again was the ONLY factor that I could conclude was causing my acne to flare again. With the advice from online sites and message boards I decided to try Jane Iredale mineral base which does not have Bismuth Oxychloride in it. I have been using it for three weeks and have not had any more issues with cystic acne. I wear it every day along with Este Lauder's Double Wear Stay in place concealer > both have not caused any breakouts with daily use along with Dan's Regimen. more info on Bismuth: [link removed]

Love It!
I used this for a while and absolutely loved it. It doesn't break me out and actually helps reduce my acne. It's brilliant for reducing Hyper Pigmentation, scars and marks without looking flaky! I would definitely recommend watching the DVD first so you know how to apply flawlessly.

not for me
I didn't get a lot of coverage from this foundation. Not sure if i was applying it wrong but i didn't get a chance to really work with it because I started getting cystic acne right away. I have acne prone skin combo/oily.

A must have
Bare minerals products are basically the core of my make up arsenal. When my skin is clear, I can get away with just wearing the mineral veil. If I get a breakout, I bust out my blemish remedy mineral powder. My favorite though is their blemish remedy spot treatment/concealer. I buy that stuff on the regular.

It works...for a short period of time
First of all, in order for me to use this it had to be a good day for my skin (meaning that it was not super dry/flaky). If it was a little bit flakey (as can happen from various products and just acne prone skin in general) it would bring out of the flakiness even more. So on dry days it was a no no. On those days when I did use it, I personally found that my face got oily REALLY FAST underneath it. So my whole face would be so shiny. If I hugged someone taller than me the foundation would end up all over what they were wearing. They have a mattifying version of this product and I found that one a tiny bit better. In a nutshell (for me): -brought out flakiness -made my skin get really oily -not worth the money, IMO.

Pros:

looks good when you put it blends well but not worth what will happen within a few days.

Cons:

DEEP UN-POPABLE PIMPLES. This product will give you the worst acne ever!! it may look nice for a few days, but if you want to try it, go to a store that will take it back- you will regret it

Dont buy!! unless you are old and dont break out at all. if you want to scar up and ruin your face, then go right ahead... My favorite product is Tart's tinted moist. never had a problem and has lighter coverage, but natural and last longer. cost about the same as bare minerals, $26.00

Pros:

Amazing coverage (with their brushes)
Looks natural
Lasts a long time
Skin-friendly

Cons:

Needs to be reapplied
Somewhat expensive

It's definitely worth buying, but buy the MATTE version of it. The matte version gives thicker coverage yet it still looks flawless. Its better to do the swirl-tap-buff method for the most natural look, but you could have great results without doing it as well. The matte formula covers so nicely. It may look cakey and dry at first, but the natural oils in your skin mix in with the makeup and create a beautiful, flawless finish to your skin(it looks natural and great) :) I bought all of my brushes and powders in a starter kit for $50 in November, and I still have most of the powders left; I bought the mineral foundation for $28 though. This stuff is amazing!

Pros:

Covers acne scarring, redness WONDERFULLY

Cons:

Made me break out worse than i have ever broken out in my life.

Will not use any longer. I have been told by 2 different dermatologists that If you have sensitive skin bismuth, a by product of some metals and an ingredient in this product, can make acne worse. In my case it caused severe acne! There is a natural organic mineral makeup called "afterglow" that does not contain bismuth. Afterglow is about the same price as bare escentuals and they have a much larger color selection. Afterglow is available for purchase online. It is hard to find an actual store that carries it, but well worth seeking it out! Since switching to the mineral makeup without bismuth my acne has cleared.
