Pros:

feels like your skin can breath
can also be used to set liquid foundation

Cons:

color selection
needs to be retouched

Try the matte formula. It doesn't contain some of the irritating ingredients of the regular formula. It also doesn't make your face shiny. It doesn't offer the same lasting coverage as a liquid foundation but if you ever get tired of slathering goop all over your face it's nice to have an alternative and to give your skin a break. I also really like it for a quick natural looking makeup when I'm just going to the grocery store or doing something outdoorsy. As far as olive skin it's hard to find a match but I use two colors: the light has alot of yellow undertones and then I just warm it up with the golden tan. Yeah it's more expensive but it lasts twice as long. I also use either one to set my liquid foundation. Depending on season.

Pros:

Even, smooth coverage

Cons:

Made me break out!
Absolutely no olive shades

Bare Escentuals is a household name because it has the best ad campaign of all times. While the make up looks good on (as long as you're not olive-skinned, in which case you look like you're wearing stage makeup) it is NOT good for you skin as they claim. Several articles I found on the web over the years have broken Bare Escentuals down, ingredient by ingredient, and noted that none of them are known to have any actual benefits to skin.

Pros:

best make up i have ever used. i will not put ANYTHING on my face except for this. gives me great coverage, whether i'm looking for full coverage or light coverage. i used this when my acne was at its worst and it still covered it up completely. now i just use it to cover up spots, scars, and dark under eye circles. it has never broken me out. it's very soft and natural looking.

Cons:

could get pricey if you go through foundation fast or use it all the time.

i tell everyone about bare minerals and recommend it to everyone with or without acne. i love their powder, blushes, and eye make up.

ended up having few bumps one day after applying it

bought the original powder foundation that is all around internet claiming it is better to acne prone skin than liquid foundation. The first day using it was great, looks natural, although it did not cover up any of the spots.

The day after I using it, I've got two big bumps on my nose bright shi*e, it looked literally like I've just got some surgery but failed. The thing is, the two bumps last 2 freaking month on my face. This makes me go see the dermatologist and go on accutane.

My skin was breaking out so bad after this, so I didn't put on any foundation for a few months. Until I have to go on my graduation shooting, I didn't consider wearing any of my HIGH COVERAGE foundation (like MAC, LANCOME) but the one leaves a NATURAL finishing, the original powder foundation from BareMinerals.

...By the time I realised the tragedies are caused by BareMinerals' natural foundation, it's been my 6th month going on accutane. And freaking yes, going on accutane didn't stop any of the breakouts from BareMinerals. I got ONE huge cystic acne on my forehead, which was impossible to cover it by a mask during COVID.

I was so pissed and hated myself so much for believing in the marketing stuff by BareMinerals. I shouldaf look up the internet and do so research on the ingredients. If I do so I wouldaf know in this freaking world, there was a thing call "BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE".

Broke me out, had a bad reaction.

The compact pressed version gave me horrible cystic acne on both my cheeks, more than I ever had before, I guess I'm allergic to the ingredients or something.  I changed for the loose version which unfortunately also breaks me out and it feels itchy, but I don't get as bad of a reaction as the other one...giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the loose version is slightly less bad.

I know use Jane Iredale pure pressed foundation (which is also a mineral powder) and didn't have any breakout from that one so far ( used it for 6 months)

Never. Again.
When this product hit Sephora around 2010, I was SO excited to try it. My skin was pretty clear overall. Let me tell you the ONLY pro to this product to me... It gives flawless coverage without feeling like you have any makeup on at all. I LOVED it. But after about a week, if that, I noticed bumps all over my face. I stopped using it... they went away. Throughout the next 4-5 years I had kept on repurchasing it thinking it would be a different story... but each time I would develop cystic acne. All over my face. I read into it a bit and I do believe it is a mineral they use called Bismuth Oxychloride. I find this is in many mineral foundations, except Physicians Formula. So while I have to admit, I loved the way it felt on my skin and how it looked... I must be tragically allergic to this Bismuth character and for that reason- I'm out.

Not entirely full coverage but light weight

Pros:

Light weight
Great skin tone match
Can build up medium/lightly full coverage

Cons:

Doesn't last all day
Expensive
Doesn't hide acne very well

I have been using bare minerals/bare essentials for almost a year, and I have noticed that my skin looks less shiny and oily. I also have noticed my pores are less clogged. This foundation powder for me, doesn't entirely cover acne, but it does a good job covering post acne marks and uneven skin tone colors. When applying the mineral veil afterwards, I do see a difference in setting the foundation but at the end of an eight hour day, I can definitely see a difference in the coverage and find myself touching up. I would love to find a makeup that is great for oily skin and keeps coverage all day :)

Pros:

initially good coverage
SPF
variety of shades

Cons:

causes breakouts
looks shiny after short period of time
cakey and intensifies look of dry skin
messy

i can't be positive that this causes breakouts, but it's happened twice in a year now where i've stopped and then restarted and i "coincidentally" start to break out and get these annoying red postules around my lips and chin. at first i didn't make the connection, so i kept putting more on to cover up my increasing amount of acne. i thought it was hormone related (and it could be, i guess) but i stopped using this yesterday and i already feel a difference in my skin today. it seemed that my acne would literally triple just in a few hours with this stuff on. today i don't have any additional breakouts (knock on wood). i've found that concealer and pressed powder does the trick, and less is really more for my oily yet dry skin. bare minerals seemed to really intensify the look of my dry skin and show every little crack and flakiness (NOT attractive!) and then make my skin feel very shiny and oily almost immediately. i will say that upon first application it looks nice and covered naturally, but upon closer examination and a good 30 minutes, it looks and feels gross. save your money and your skin. invest in something organic, natural and bismuth-free. i will be throwing out the rest of my bare minerals.

Pros:

-does not clog pores
-does not aggravate acne
-decent coverage
-exact color match

Cons:

-often looks cakey, not natural at all
-rubs off really easily on hands, clothing, anything. definitely does not stay on all day

I really wanted to try this makeup before i got it about a year ago. I REALLY liked it at first. It has goood color match and doesn't make my acne worse or clog my pores. But, then i started to realize it wipes off so easily and doesn't stay on. Make up that comes off so easily is not something you want if you have acne that you're trying to cover. If you have very light acne, and want a lighter coverage, i suggest this for you.

Pros:

Good color selection
quick application

Cons:

Itchy
Made skin look worse

I used this when my acne was light. Still, it made my skin look worse. I applied it and after a few minutes my skin was itching terribly. I really wanted to use this because I wanted light-medium coverage and quick application. The sales associates where I got this told me that many people return this due to irritation.
