Pros:

stops oily-ness by 99%
great exfolaitor
smooth clean skin

Cons:

slight irritation while on

I use this DIFFERENTLY to the other reviewers, I make a solution with it and use it like a toner wiping it over cleansed skin twice daily and dont rinse it off. By making a mild solution you can leave it on without getting a white powdery face and it keeps my skin oil free all day! I've had greasy pimply skin my whole life and im 28 now this is the first thing that ever helped so much! I put about a tablespoon of soda to a cup of water in a closed container and use it all week applying with a clean cotton pad. I also use the powder mixed in my cleanser as a twice weekly exfoliator.

Pros:

cleared my acne

Cons:

can irritate skin if your not gentle with it

Loved it! It doesn't hurt to give it a try. If your like me you have tried everything else anyways.. Give it time though, you will have to have patience. It took mine about 2 months to see a dramatic difference.

Pros:

works great, acne completely cleared up, best thing i have ever used, skin is super soft and its so cheap, worth a try

Cons:

didnt really clear up acne scars, and that was the reason i started using it

mix 1tbs of baking soda with 2tbs of water and scrub on for 1 min, then wash off, put lotion on right after (baking soda can make dry patches without lotion), makes skin really soft and acne free... i found that i have to use it everyday for it to work.

Pros:

inexpensive, natural, it works

Cons:

can burn/tingle if you have sensitive skin

Im 40 years old (dont look it though!) and have had acne most of my life. As you can imagine I have spent more money than I care to know on soaps, creams, spot treatments, even popular ones such as proactive, i have done chemical peels, chances are, if its sitting on a shelf somewhere, Ive tried it. I came across this board, and others and this is probably the one product that had consistent positive feedback. So I did give it a try, it did tingle/burn the first time I tried it, but not since then. I'm not sure if it's because the skin has so much bacteria and the baking soda is going after it so your skin kinda freaks out? I sometimes mix it with neutrogena skin cleanser (their soap bar), or just alone. I rinse off with really hot water. Now for those who complained that it made it worse, I think its because it brings all that crap under your skin to the surface, making it seem like it made it worse, when really the baking soda is trying to do its job. It may not work for everyone, if you find that it burns, maybe try mixing it with a soap, or use very little and only on the area affected. I havent had any issues with the cystic acne that I would get on occasion, which was painful and ugly and would take weeks if not months to heal. I also learned that baking soda was used in an experiment by some doctor years ago, and it actually can kill tumors! But I guess thats another subject. It works for me and I am pretty happy with the results. Also, I would research asprin and honey masks, that also does well.

Pros:

cheep
easy to find/use

Cons:

may burn a little bit
can be messy

I love using baking soda as a mask, just mix a little water in you hand and then just put it on you face. It's really easy and it works. It can burn/tingle a little but I have sensative skin. Also if the "mask" is on the dryer side it may crumble a bit..I like to do it in the tub so if it does drip or flake it won't be a problem.

Pros:

Makes skin soft, affordable, dries acne out, exfoliates, can clear up skin 75-100% quickly.

Cons:

Slightly messy after it is dry if you leave it on for a while (but SO worth it!)

I started using this on my face because my mom insisted. I had a lot of redness, a few pimples, and a lot of small white heads and blackheads, etc. along my jawline and chin. After using this mask once or twice I saw a noticeable difference in the condition of my skin around the jawline and on the cheeks/chin. I really like baking soda! I also recommend using coconut oil, vitamin c, aztec indian clay mask and rose water. I use all of these things and my face has cleared up DRASTICALLY. The next product I am trying is Seacret's mineral peeling gel. Will be the first to review!

Pros:

Great exfoliator.
I saw an immediate difference in my acne and acne scars.
Cheap.
Leaves skin feeling smooth and soft.

Cons:

Has an unusual consistency.
Burns, especially if you have any open cuts.

A great and cheap way of significantly improving acne. I discovered baking soda on this website and decided to give it a try due to all the positive reviews. I owe it the people who took the time to write how this product works. I can't be happier with how fast and efficiently baking soda has cleared up my acne.

Pros:

Cheap, extremely effective for exfoliation, easy to use

Cons:

can cause irritation if used incorrectly

This is a very abrasive scrub (it's also used for cleaning hard household surfaces!), but when used gently and sparingly, this makes a BIG difference in the texture of the skin. Just mix 1/2 to 1 teaspoon with a bit of water to form a paste (or mix a little into your cleanser), and gently rub it into the skin in circular motions, then rinse. It leaves the skin instantly smoother and cleaner. Will get rid of any flakiness and helps clear away blackheads. Using an exfoliator like this is important for stimulating cell renewal and getting rid of scars. It's also useful for cleansing away the "glue" that holds the dirt and dead cells to the skin (with which most of us with oily skin battle). I would recommend using this only once or twice a week at most, since it is VERY abrasive. Any scrub should only be used twice a week at most.

Love using this 2x a week.
Battling acne can really stink and lower our self esteem. I have literally tried all products, from drug store clean and clear etc, to proactiv and murad - which actually made akin worse than before starting the treatments. This baking soda/mixing with water trick has helped me with clearing up my acne A LOT. So far I've only used it 3 times, but boy, what a difference. For all of those out there suffering from acne I really recommend trying this remedy. Who would of thought vitamins as my cure to ridding this horrific ance. My daily vitamins: 1 Vitamin A pill a day (NO MORE than 1 a day) 1 Vitamin E pill a day 1 Zinc pill a day (NO MORE than 1 a day) 2 Borage seed oil pills a day 1 Vitamin C pill a day!!! That's all, give this 6-8 weeks .....and my acne is under control and literally all gone! Btw -- one reason I realized all the drug store products and such weren't working for my skin was because my skin was allergic to the salicylic acid in almost all the products I was using! Which is why my face would sometimes clear up and then get wayyyy worse....and stay worse. I thought I may have been "purging", but no-no-no...it was all but that. Anyways, I hope this helps a lot of yall as it did for me. I love sharing this with people, cause these vitamins and using the baking soda mixture on my skin 2x a week has left me with the clearest skin I've ever had in umm..my whole life!! :)))
