Pros:

cleared up all acne on my nose and forehead. It didnt irrate my skin at all. It also prevented breakouts.

Cons:

never had any problems! I absolutley love this product.

Great product! I started using Azelex abouta year ago, and i havent seen a zit since! It doesnt bleach your skin like BP. My skin gets very dark in the summer, and this is the first product that hasnt caused any kind of discoloration in my skin. Also it was easy to apply and works anywhere you have acne! Overall great product. :)

Awesome Product for Acne. Fellow Acne Sufferers, please do try it out. I've tried everything under the sun but this is the ONLY thing that works.

Cons:

Prescription-medication.

One word. GREAT.

i have had acne for 15 yr now....i have tried almost every single medicine out there...most are effective but after i stop using them my acne comes back. I don't want to use accutane because of the bad side effects. ive been on azelaic acid for 3 weeks now...so far its working good...lets wait and see what happens after a month or two.

Works extremely well on cystic acne!
Azelaic acid seems to work amazing well on deep cystic acne, lessening the inflammation and clearing it up or bringing it to a whitehead in a matter of 3-4 days! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work on inflammatory acne for me. I highly recommend this product!

Pros:

Works well, definitely reduces breakouts and how long a pimple lasts. Doesn't make my sensitive skin red or irritated.

Cons:

My skin does itch and/or sting sometimes, but usually only for half an hour or so after i apply it. I only use it at night, so this isn't really a problem. My insurance won't pay for it.

My skin is very sensitive, and did not tolerate most other prescription topical acne medications (aside from Differen). Everything else irritated my skin...made it all red and peely, but Azelex, though it can cause itching/stinging, has not made my skin red or caused peeling. It's cleared up acne pretty well.

Pros:

This stuff works much better than all the other topicals products I have tried

Cons:

mild itching and flaking- can be lessened by cutting back a bit and then resuming

I have tried retinoids, salicylic acid, bp, duac, and various home rememdies like tea tree and apple cider vinegar. This is the only product that I can really recommend as something that works fast, effectively, and is well tolerated i really recommend trying this

Pros:

cheap, has worked better than anything else!

Cons:

doesn't completely clear my skin, but makes a noticeable improvement ; first few days of using it it burns a bit, but that eventually stops

definitely recommend! every other topical I've tried dries my skin out to the point that it's so painful i can't touch my face to wash it, and no oral antibiotics have worked.

Pros:

affordable, doesn't require a prescription (I use Melazepam, which is 20% azelaic acid cream and $12 per 2oz tube), doesn't stain or bleach clothes or sheets, more effective than other topicals, no side effects

Cons:

occasional mild tingling feeling for a few minutes after application, not sure it's really helped my persistent dark spots from former zits

The best topical out there. However, for my moderate acne I've found I must apply it 2x a day and it doesn't clear my face, just keeps it more manageable. Melazepam is available over the counter for those of us without dermatologists or health insurance.

Pros:

Reduces redness. Reduces inflamation. Overall smoother skin.

Cons:

Made my skin oily even the next day. Doesn't do much of anything to unclog pores. Itchiness about 5 minutes after application.

This product worked much better for me in the winter. I have rosacea, so my skin cannot tolerate more intense acne products(Ziana effed me up). I work in a hot restaraunt and the air condition doesn't work half the time, so this summer I have not been able to stay clear at all. This product does not exfoliate, and does not unclog pores, but if you suffer from inflammation or rosacea, finacea is not a bad fit. I am going to continue to use this just to prevent big zits, but I also intend on going back to my derm and giving something else a try(if there is anything I haven't tried). I feel like this medication has been clogging my pores, but is simultaneously preventing them from swelling. So I have lots of small whiteheads all the time, as opposed to a few big ones if I weren't on it. I gues its a trade off I'm willing to make for now.
